xjohnx
I just got my CD-IV202AV cable in to connect my iPhone 5 to my AVH-X5500BHS. Cable is installed and ready to go, however I'm getting an "Incompatible USB" error when plugging my iPhone 5 or iPad Mini into the the cable (via the required Apple lightning to VGA adapter). I'm assuming there's a firmware update required to add iPhone 5/CD-IV202AV compatibility but I'm having trouble locating it. Any suggestions?
VBLUE42
It hasn't been released yet.
xjohnx
It hasn't been released yet. Any word on ETA? Seems kind of silly to release a cable that is completely useless without the accompanying firmware.
xjohnx
Just spoke with Pioneer. Firmware update not expected until Mid-April. Glad to see they're selling a $100 cable that serves zero purpose in the meantime.
BigDonVincenzo
I hope Amazon sells it for $50 :\
puckmaggie
I have the iphone 5 but read about the slow firmware progress after I bought the CD-IV202AV cable and AVH-X5500BHS... so I haven't had it installed yet. My question is.. how hard is it to update the firmware after I have it installed? Or, should I just wait until the firmware comes out before installing?.. which could realistically be weeks or months
Crash758
I spoke with a Pioneer Installer via their customer service number a couple of days ago about another issue. I did ask about the update, and he advised me the X5500BHS will be completely customer upgradable, and the update should hopefully be out this week or next. For what it is worth... It is scheduled for Spring. Since we are already in Spring, it should not be much longer.Sincerely,LuanaCustomer Service Representative
drk01dog2001
I got ahold of the shop that installed my AVH-X2500BT last weekend and they stated they called Wednesday and said they were just waiting on Apple approving the update. The guy at my local shop stated they would be hopefully rolling the update out by the 1st of May. We may even see it sooner!

Apple has nothing to do with a firmware update for a Pioneer head unit.
xjohnx
They posted this on Facebook: To our customers awaiting the iPhone 5 related firmware for our 2013 In-dash DVD receiver and Navigation products: We sincerely apologize for the delay. As you all are aware, the iPhone 5 has a native screen resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels. Pioneer AppRadio and AppRadio Mode products have a native screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Therefore, each app must correctly resize when displayed on the Pioneer in-dash unit. Unfortunately, the current version of one of the most commonly used AppRadio compatible apps is not resizing correctly. This app developer has already made the necessary changes and submitted a new version of their app to the iTunes App Store. We have tested this new version and have confirmed that it is resizing correctly. To ensure the best user experience, Pioneer has made the decision to delay the release of the iPhone 5 related firmware until the new version of this app is available in the iTunes App Store. We anticipate and hope for this to be a short delay. Please check back for status updates. Thank you! Are they seriously delaying the release of their firmware because a third party developer hasn't got their crap together? or just a convenient excuse to buy more time? Probably a little of both. But yeah, that does sound bad. No surprise with Pioneer in my experience though.
Jas0n
They better hurry or the new iPhone will be out But I don't plan on upgrading to new iPhone unless its a huge change Seems like all the pioneers this year were just thrown out real fast, just to make a sale I didn't plan on upgrading my avh4300dvd this year but after I got the iPhone 5 I kinda had too The iPhone 5 works with my avh-x8500 but I have to deal with the bulky cords an adaptor. The 2013 line was a fail in my eyes And why do we have one man ( Mike who does great work) to make the radio do what it should have done right out of the box? I am losing my faith in pioneer and I'm a die hard pioneer user. I have had 12 mid to flagship pioneer radios in the last 15 years I used to upgrade every year, now that I'm getting a little older I like the radio to last a few years. I'm worried that this years line up will be out dated next year when pioneer gets this fix right But this whole 2013 line up for iPhone 5 was a epic fail. Even the kit for my radio pioneer sold, i stupidly bought had the wrong cord I could have just used one of my HDMI cords and saved 60 bucks
