mgrier
What universal tv tuner will work with the AVIC Z2. please help.
action
Any universal tuner will work. That's why it's universal. You will not, however, be able to control it from the Z's touch screen.

jace93
Good luck getting 1. Those tv tuners are worth their weight in gold. 2009...............LOL
eaglecomm
They told me that any of the tv tuners from Pioneer will work with the Z2 including the 6400 and the 7000 and will be useable from the HU. Anyone have issue with these or comments? Or are they just hard to find?
whtcrxghst
The 6400TV and 5700TV tuners are a direct plugin. The 7000TV requires slight modification but all three definitely work. They are very hard to find--sold my last three 5700TVs on ebay about three months ago for almost two grand total
eaglecomm
Any notes on the 'slight modification'? Or you can just say search. =)
bobmun
you have to cut a wire inside the cable but you will have to search to find the wire that needs to be cut I don't remember.
skep
the reason as to why pioneer no longer makes this is because the FCC is changing all tv to digital, no longer analog. so from what is said, they will no longer be compatible this is ballpark of 2009 so whtcrxghst is pretty accurate

Why not a digital/analog one. Or should I ask, does anyone know if one is in the works? Is the format/signal for digital pined down? But then again they could also make it upgradeable. hottwhyrd
to anyone interested i have a bunch of avic stuff going on ebay sunday the 19th i forgot to include my 7000 tv tuner (no cables tho)
C6VetteRocks
I'm using a GEX-P5700TV with my Z2. As a unit they work fine. As for reception in the Portland OR area it sucks. Before I mounted the antennas in my rear facia, I tried it just hanging loose in unobstructed mounting setup as well as other configurations. It didn't make any differance. As for FCC, all TV receivers must be digital reception capable and TV stations must brodcast a digital signal by date X. It does not mean on date X or X + anything analog is going to stop. Let's understand reality. TV stations live by advertizing. Dose anyone think any big company is going to allow something to cause them to loose 10s of million sales because most people in the US don't have a digital tuner.
