suburban28
My buddy got his D3 in the mail today from Compuplus. He took it to the install shop where we have gotten plenty of work done before. He was told by the shop that they could not bypass a D3 without running the risk of frying the unit. I have read a hundred post on this site relating to bypassing the D3 and I told him none of the posts I read indicated anything about frying the unit because its bypassed. They told him that their "Master Installer" who is in another one of their shops in a different state said that if they bypassed the radio he would give it two weeks tops before the radio burned out. I told him they sounded like they did not want to do it for liability reasons. Is this Bs??????
trol1374
yup, it is BS. Let them do the install and then do the mod yourself. Or do the mod and label the mute and parking brake wire as ground and put back in the box. Then take it to them.
whtcrxghst
Yep. Master installer doesn't wanna lose his house because his customer is watching a movie and runs over a family in a crosswalk
suburban28
They finally agreed to do it. They made it seem like it was a big deal and advised it was a lot harder than just moving the mute wire and grounding it with the parking brake. it works though whatever they did. adhood
Glad you got it done. The shop where I had mine installed performed the bypass. All I had to do was ground the parking brake wire. Which took all of 5 minutes.
