Screen when D3 is off

What is the screen on the D3 suppose to look like when the unit is off? I see the clock up in the top left corner but the rest of the screen is not black. It is more like dark gray with some horizontal white lines running through it. Is this normal? Is there a contrast or other control to make the screen all black?

Nope, that's how it is supposed to look. No worries.

There's a button you can push to turn off the display completely, until you touch the screen again. Which menu it's in I can't remember. Check the manual.

To turn the screen off completely: Menu->Settings->Screen Off

This is just turn off the screen but you still can hear audio.

Anyway we can power off the unit. Most unit has this function, but not D3???

Go to the source menu and hit OFF. Then turn the screen OFF. It always stays on in order to provide navi guidance even when you don't want to listen to music

The only way would be to add an inline switch on the ACC wire so you could turn it off manually while the ignition is still on. The unit would still function normally, turning on and off with the ignition, but you would also have the option to turn the unit off while driving.

i use the #1 on the built in, some kind of textured look.

 

more better than it looking like the LCD just died. that's annoying
