jroth142
Hey guys, I recently installed a D3 in my 04 Maxima w/bose. When I did the bypass I accidentally broke the little tab off the connector for the mute wire so I basically just shoved it in the new slot and it seemed secure. However, after driving the car for a day or two I got the "improper parking brake lead connection..." I initially thought maybe it was the ground but after moving that the car did the same thing, worked for about a day and then the same message came up. I'm now thinking that the mute wire might be the cause of this problem. Can you purchase those little tabs for the wires to connect to the harness anywhere?? Any other advice?? Thanks
HiFiSi
I guess you could use some super-glue or JB Weld to hold the connector inside the harness, that way it shouldn't pop out very easily. Or you could move a different unused wire to that harness slot, if there are any, being careful to not break the pin off this time. Or you could pick up one of these, which is basically a length of wire with a harness pin on the end. (If you want to spend $22.50 on that) http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-AVIC-D3-VIDEO-NAV-LOCKOUT-BYPASS-WIRE_W0QQitemZ230203479841QQihZ013QQcategoryZ79834QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
VirtuousE
Happen to me....use super glue and relieved the tension off the wire
32valvefox
or you could put the wire into the connector snugly and then electrical tape the mute wire by puting the tape around the wire harness about 3/4 of an inch back from the connector. thats what ive done before and it seems to work out fine, no messy substances to work with

pmp350
I just pulled the blue and white remote wire out and was very careful when I tried installing it the second time. Worked like a charm!
wgm5286
i had the same problem, used a hot glue gun. Just a small drop sealed and insulated the wire. Have had no problems since
jroth142
Used a dab of super glue and some electrical tape...so far so good! Thanks for all the advice guys
squished300ztt
I had the same problem. Shortly afterwards I was messing with my computer and noticed that many of the wires in the computer use the exact same connector. If you have any unused wires in your computer you may be able to use one as a replacement.

Nothing "permanent"
nate_33
It should be a simple molex pin. The pins are very cheap but the crimpers cost a little bit. You can buy them at radio shack. Any local installer should have this, if they wouldn't mind helping you out. But I just realized this post is 3 months old and surely you have it fixed by now.
