Awesome find! Good to know it can be done via software as well. Although I'm sure this one would net even more noobish questions than the hardware bypass already does...
Where do I get the bypass software and how do I use it?

TO THE PROs: worked the very first time, thank you very much.
ATTENTION MAC USERS, do it on a PC with winrar
Is your e-brake grounded?

Yes
Yes
What I would like to point out here is that the "software" only bypass is not indeed a proper "software" only bypass if it requires a hardware modification from a normal install.
Someone else shot me down when I was looking for some legitimate feedback.

Posting to say thanks for the great info! It worked great, instead of 128 I put 256 just to be safe.
Question tho, the warning screens that popup everytime regardless of the mods etc, is there a known method of removal of those screens?
Hey I didnt read thru this entire thread so I dont know if its been said already, but I asked my parents, who both have programming degrees and they told me that the top number possible in an 8 bit system is 255, not 256. I just tried this in the hack and went 60 miles an hour with no messages and all features availiable so I guess that they are right. I hope this is helpful, since I know I didnt want to have a top speed of around 80MPH

Interestingly enough I used 256 and that also worked.
Absolute Noob here... After reading all the posts here and in particular page 10 I was able to complete this mod. Thanks everyone for the info.
Now I Just need to know how to reset back to factory settings? My stereo is all messed up. System start up will not go off. My IPod will play but with no sound. It will not read a SD Card. The time is wrong and it shuts off and restarts every 2 minutes. This is horrible.

Copy back your original files you "should" have made a backup of before changing anything. At the very least, you should have a data-bak.zip on the unit you can use. You can also try oing to Nav Settings and try setting back to factory settings, but I think those only affect your settings made through those 4 interfaces.

It will not do anything. I can't got to my map screen or my settings. And I don't have a backup.

You might try reinstalling the 2.0 update. Not sure. ee first Stickied post.
If you do get it corrected, make sure to not do anything going forward without back ups for every time you change things.

I never did the hardware bypass, so I can't be sure but it sounds like the mute wire is in the wrong position or has a bad ground. If you don't want to take the unit out again you could always do the software bypass.
thanks for the promp answer, I load those 2 folders to my sd card but im not quiet sure how this works I load them in the unit and after that? how do you make changes srry for been waisting your time

No problem, first you need to get to test mode. It's pretty simple and you can find good instructions here. After that you just copy your edited data.zip file to "My Flash Disk\APL2\iGo"
Thanks a lot I did pull out my unit right now and I notice im an idiot, when I changed that mute wire that little metal thing broke and it did not when all the way in so it was not touching, I cut the cable put it in and now that thing is working, Thanks for your help ![]()
worked like a charm...preciate it guys
*THESE DIRECTIONS ARE COMPLETE YOU WON'T GET LOST UNLESS YOU'RE A LOST CAUSE
*Your parking brake wire (light green) has to be grounded. You can ground it to the black wire coming off the black power harness that connects to your stock radio ground connection, the cigarette lighter black ground, the vehicle chassis, etc.
*I updated my Avic to 2.0 firmware, its up to you if you want to do this because all you're trying to do is replace the "data.zip" file. Or if you don't want to upgrade you can follow steps 1-4,6 to access your Avic and copy/paste the original file from your Avic to SD card, open it up on your computer, edit it as mentioned below, put it back on your SD card, then follow steps 7-15. On how to Upgrade your firmware search avic411 or go to:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... e+Download
1. Make sure you are a registered member of avic411 or else you won't be able to see the files you need to download.
2. Download the Testmode.zip file folder from:
http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0
3. Use Winrar (people have reported problems with Winzip) and open up Testmode.zip
4. Extract BOTH Testmode and MiTACAP files to your desktop by highlighting the folders and clicking the "Extract To" tab on Winrar and selecting "Desktop".
5. Get a hold of the data.zip file, you will need to edit it THROUGH Winrar. If you upgrade to the 2.0 Avic Firmware you can find the data.zip file in the firmware folder you download. You can download the firmware off Avic 411 or go to pioneerelectronics.com. Once you have the firmware downloaded open it up with Winrar. Click on F-Series Firmware Update -> LPUE080 -> APL2 -> iGo -> RIGHT CLICK data.zip and select "View File" -> Click project_config -> Click pioneer.ini (opens up in notepad)
Next, scroll down till you see:
[pioneer]
parking_break_speed=16.0
hide_logos=1
Change the "16.0" -> 128.0 , then click "file" "save". You will be prompted File "pioneer.ini" was modified click YES. Also click YES to "data.zip" being modified. Now extract "data.zip" in Winrar to your Desktop by highlighting the folder and clicking the "Extract To" tab on Winrar and selecting "Desktop". You should find it inside the "F-Series Firmware Update" folder by clicking through it.
6. Copy and paste the three files that should now be on your desktop (Testmode/MiTACAP/data.zip) to your SD card.
7. Insert the SD card into your unit with your vehicle powered off.
8. Turn your key to the vehicle ACC on position and your Avic should boot up in WinCE mode.
9. X out of whatever screen pops up till you get to the desktop.
10. Triple click to get into "My Device" is what i believe its called the first icon at the top of the desktop on the Avic.
11. Go into your SD card, highlight the "data.zip" file, click "edit" "copy".
12. Click back, now go into the main Avic drive in "My Device", i think its called flash something...i'm not sure the exact name but you can't miss it.
13. Similar to how you navigated through the firmware to find "data.zip" to change it, click to get to it, LPUE080 -> APL2 -> iGo
14. You should find the original "data.zip" that's on your Avic right now in there.
15. Now click "edit" "paste" and click "Yes to all" to replace the original data.zip with the one that you put on your SD card.
16. Reboot your Avic and you should be good to go.
* I tried describing all the steps by memory to the best of my ability, in the sequence i performed them, and to their fullest detail. i should be charging ppl for this post...lol...hope it helps...
Works like a charm. thanks man!
Hey, no problem guys! im glad i could help.
i just like to spread the love around like a butter knife
Noob question.
To do software bypass, do i still have to ground the wire so the unit will operate properly ?

Yes, your parking brake must be grounded.

I already updated my Firmware to Ver. 2.0 Is there any way without backups (came accross this hack too late) to do the software mod? I looked through this thread and saw the question asked, but no answers to it.
Nevermind, I realised after reading about the Testmode that once in WinCE I could copy the Data.zip off of a USB thumb drive into the appropriate folder on my F700BT. Everything is absolute gravy now, just did a quick test run after I was done and no messages up to 40mph, I assume it should be good at Highway speeds too based on what I've read and that I used 256 assuming it is Kmh not Mph. Thanks a ton to everyone who actually figured all this out, it would have taken me much longer all on my own. I work in Hardware, software is only a hobby ![]()
no problem man! glad i could help
Finally decided to try this mod. I'm a professional Car Audio installer but I'm not real savvy with computers. It took me a while to figure it all out but I got it without any failures. Works great. Oh and by the way you guys were doing 128, I did 256...just for the hell of it to see if it'd work. It does. Of course I'll never get my car that fast but so far I can go all the way up to 90 with the video playing so all is good. I honestly don't use the video a lot. Main reason I did it was for NAV functions. Anyways thanks for all the info you guys posted up here.
