I have been working all day trying to get these stupid RAR files to open. I show the files quantity is there but I try to open it and it tells me "the archive is ether in unknown format or damaged". everything seems to be in order. I just dont know what else to do.

 

One thing I did extract the torrent and and got the four separate RAR files from my MAC and put them on a flash drive and have been trying to open them on a windows computer. They are Host OS windows if that matters

When you get the four RAR files, open the first one with WINRAR (Windows). the four RAR files are part of a whole. They are not inividual extractions. WINRAR will know what to do with them. You should then extract two directories and a file using WINRAR. Read earlier posts for further instructions

Then the files are bad. or you never completed the download.

Ok, Im confirming this is amazing and worked well.

A couple of tips that I learned and didnt read far enough to realize before I chased circles.

"bittorrent.com" was a great program that was free and only took 45 min with hi-speed cable modem to download the torrent for the firmware.

The files come in 4 parts and unzipping the first grabbed all the info from the other parts AUTOMATICALLY!

When I update my deck it read 1.0 firmware "NOT" 1.01 or anything different (not sure if this is ok)

The update finished in 25 min and was spot on and now the firmware reads 2.0!!!

Cheers to the posters and firmware. I love the Pandora module, and the scrolling throught the sources and tuner stations!!

Thanks to everyone here, update from z110 to Z120 went off without a hitch. Version still showed as 1.000 after successful hacked update (1.001), but the unit updated to 2.000 fine with random password.

To echo nguyen50's question: is it safe to go from firmware 2.0 to 2.003?

 

Looking at the update there looks to be new RenewalIFLib.dll and EU090APL.VER files.

2.0 to 2.003 upgrade does not require a password.

Just trying to get some clarification if it is safe to upgrade to 2.003 or if we should wait for another update from ShortFUSE if we are running a hacked version. Thanks for the info.

Hey, I'm new here and would like to know what does this first phase mean? Does it mean we're closer to hack this device? The point is, I'm from Brazil and am thinking in buy this navigator, but I'll need to install brazilian maps on it, so should I wait or forget about this navigator and try to find another one (maybe X910BT)?

Would it not update all of North America Maps? what if you drove to Canada using your gps, it would only use the updated US Maps, and not the Canadian? if it updates Canada Maps I will Definitly do the change, if not im gonna have to buy it

2.003 is safe. I wouldn't worry about it.

To be precise, this update is for the North American version, so it has the latest maps that are included in the Z120. So yes, it includes Canada. I wouldn't bet on adding any other areas/map beyond what this release covers. Maybe in the future - when the actual software hacks start coming in, this will be possible. Remember - this "hack" doesn't modify the new release, just bypasses the password check. It does not - at this time - allow modification to the new release per se.

I took a deep breath, and tried the hack on my F10BT (EU). And it worked I was able to install the hacked US 1.001 , then the EU 2.0 update with a random password.

The only strange thing is that after I tried to install the 2.003 update, it still says 2.0000 although it copied the files, and it seemed that it finished correctly (reseted / restarted itself as it should). If I try to reinstall the update, nothing happens.

The unit seems to be fully functional, so it's fine for now.

No, the latest BT FW is 3.11 I believe.

If you look at the info on the pioneer website it states that it is a bluetooth and hands free update. It is already in the update you do with the CNSD110FM update.

That's big news - seems to also mean you could buy a US Z110/120, and now use it in the EU (with correct updates).

From memory, the US version is like 1/2 the price of the EU version (discounted).
