Speed Sense blue/yellow pin 9 @ instrument cluster
If vehicle has the midline audio system or BOSE, the vehicle speed sense is also found at the radio, it is pink.

Speed Sense dk.green/white ECM
The ECM (Engine Control Module) is located near the battery, down low, between the fender and the fan under the black plastic cover. On the 4.3L, the VSS wire is at pin 3 in the connector labeled black. On the 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L, the VSS wire is located in pin 50 of the red connector.

Hey guys,
I've search for a long while trying to get the info on the location of the Vss wire and rev wire for my 2008 4runner SR5. Tried the rostra site and no luck there either. Putting in the D3 today and hopefully you guys can help. Also, do I really need to worry about these wires? I know it will make the navi more exact but is it worth the trouble? Thanks!!!

I found it. I searched and found a how to on a 04 4runner and it was in the same place in the 08. The vss wire will make the gps more accurate basically.

OK, I put the D3 in my 4runner and my wife changed her mind on keeping her 08 Sequioa stock. Of course with hers she wants the new back up cam, bluetooth, and the D3 hooked up correctly. So I pose the question again, this time for a 08 Toyota Sequioa. Where can I find the Reverse wire and VSS wire for the 08 Sequioa? Thanks all!

Speed Sense green ac gray 16 pin plug @ BCM
The BCM (Body Control Module) is located above the brake pedal. It is a plastic box with three plugs that face the firewall.

thanks Mis Fit.

I will look there. Someone said it was also int he radio harness and i was hoping to catch it there so i didnt have to splice a wire. I could just do it in the plug and see if i can do it around the adaptor plugs for the new stereo

Mickey, MisFit is right you have to get your VSS from the BCM. It is the dark green wire. There is no VSS at your radio, it used a class 2 signal for the speed sensitive radio.

Hi, how about for ML320 '02. I just got mine installed yesterday without VSS connected. I would highly appreciate your input/suggestions on this.

Thanks, DR

I have a Dodge Avenger 2008 and installed the AVIC-D3 but still need to hook up the speed pulse wire.

Anyone know where the wire is located? I have heard it is somewhere under the hood. but that was about it.

I have been looking for some time now.

Any help would be great.

Thank you.
