  1. I have the same concern because I live in Toronto Canada where the temp at times reaches -30. I bought the unit in the summer so have not yet had it in the winter. But when I had it installed I asked my installer about weather conditions and he told me that he has not heard any complaints about any of the Nav systems that he installs due to weather. I guess you have to also consider a few things, although it may be -30 outside, chances are that it will not be that cold inside your car unless it is parked for weeks outside with-out be started. Also, to be on the safe side, when your car is real
  2. I see, I have often wondered how factory Navi's measure up against the after market ones like the Pioneer Avic's.
  3. Doesn't the C class already come with Navi, or is it only E class and up?
  4. OK thanks for the info. I'll read over that stuff and give it a try.
  5. I have collected allot of music video's most of which are in mpg and AVI format which I have downloaded off the internet. I would like to be able to play these video's on my D3. But since the unit doesn't support AVI or MPG video, I assume I will have to convert them into DVD or DIVX format. Does anyone here know the best way to do this?
  6. Are you talking about making a video dvd that you can watch on the D3 from video files such as AVI, mpeg, etc.. that you downloaded? If so, you need a dvd authoring program that will allow you to convert the files to dvd and create chapters.
  7. OK I never took that into consideration. I am going to watch for that. Thanks.
  8. I have the Kenwood back-up camera and I am really happy with it. Great wide angle view, and has night view.
  9. When I am playing a song from a playlist off my Ipod in the D3 and I want to be able see a list of the songs on that playlist while still listening to the current song, the menu button doesn't always work. There are times when I am pushing it and nothing happens. And other times it will bring up a list of the tracks on the playlist. Is there something that I am doing wrong?
  10. No I have never used ITunes or an IPod before. Being a Windows person I have always used Windows Media Player or Music Match to rip music, and Nero to burn MP3's onto CD's or DVD's. So I am still getting used to using ITunes. I guess in a sense a play list is almost like having a folder in that you can create different play list with different types of music.
  11. Well I just recently bought a 2nd generation Ipod Nano for the sole purpose of using it with Avic D3. I'll be connecting the adapter soon. In the mean time I have been trying to figure out how to put the music on the Ipod from ITunes the way I want it, and it's driving me nuts! Here's the problem that I am having: I want to put specific folders containing mp3's on the ipod which are stored on my PC's hard drive. For example, I have a folder called rock music, a folder called HipHop and a folder called R&B stored on my computer hard drive. How do I get these folders and their contents
  12. Thats too bad. It would be nice to be able to browse the songs in other folders when listening to a song in another. I used to be able to do this with my Alpine CD/MP3/WMA player. I guess it's the same with listening to music from an Ipod?
  13. I have noticed that when I put mp3's or WMA's in different folders on a CD or DVD every time I browse into a different folder to see the tracks, the system automatically starts to play the songs in that folder. For example, say I am listing to a certain song in a folder called rock music, then I want to browse the songs in a folder called Hip Hop, the system automatically jumps to the 1st song in that folder that I just went to. Is there a way to browse through different folders while still playing the songs in another folder?
  14. Not exactly true. Sure, the new ipods will work with the D3, but the track info display doesn't update when it goes to the next song. Doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but after a day or so of that, you're gonna be hating it. A LOT. Basically, until somebody works out some kind of fix for all those issues, you're better off getting one og the 5th gen ipods. And KNIGHT20: Mine was $200 because it's brand new in the box with all the included... stuff. I don't trust buying used electronics from strangers sight unseen. Hell, the only reason I bought the new ipod off ebay was because e
  15. I am a little confused by different Ipods and now the newer versions which are coming out. For the Avic D3 I want to make sure that I have an Ipod that will be compatible with the interface. So maybe you guys can help me out here. First, which version of Ipod, shuffle, Nano or Ipod will work with the D3 interface? Secondly, will the new Ipods that are coming out be compatible with the D3?
  16. Exactly. Stay away from off brands. If you really want something than pay the extra $$ for quality. I had a Denon car CD changer which lasted 10 years, with no problems. At the time Denon was one of the best makers of Car CD players and changers. Rosen is not well know, but they are a U.S. based company which was started by German and Swiss engineers to design O.E.M Audio/Video equipment for cars like Mercedes, Cadillac and Land Rover. They make some of the best head rest video units available.
  17. Adding a DVD changer is something that I have considered as well. The ones which I have looked at, the pioneer XDV-P6 and the Rosen R-5006 6 disk DVD changer seem nice but are expensive. This one the Velor is allot cheaper. However I would be hesitant to buy it because it is Chinese company of lower end products. Hence the price. I would do allot of review searching before I bought it to make sure it is reliable.
  18. When you have the Ipod connected to the D3 via the CD-1200 IBUS Interface cable can you actually power the Ipod on and off from the D3 or do you have to manually turn the Ipod on itself and then control it form the D3? Also when you have the Ipod connected to this cable it supposedly re-charges the IPod. Can you leave the IPod connected for days even when the car is off or will it drain the battery? The reason for my concerns are because when I get it installed I want to have it as clean and factory looking as possible. So I was thinking about mounting it in the glove compartment whe
  19. Well it would be more convenient than using CD’s in that you wouldn't have to take out the Navi DVD and put it in every time you want to use it. You can just leave the Navi disk in and use the Ipod. This is why I am considering getting an Ipod and a DVD changer.
  20. I see, same thing goes with burning a CD. So basically it will play the same quality as a CD if loaded with CD music.
  21. Thanks. How is the sound quality with the adapter? Is it CD quality sound?
  22. I am thinking about getting an Ipod connected to my D3. Does anyone have any pics of what the ipod interface on the D3 looks like when playing music from an Ipod? Does it display the song title, artist title ect... And can you control all the Ipod features from the D3?
  23. I used a dual layer +R DVD and copied it with Nero. It worked great.
  24. I do plan on getting an Ipod, however I would also like a CD or DVD changer as well. With the Ipod you can hold allot of music but then when you want to play something that isn't on there you have to download from your P.C. With the CD changer I can change various CD's when I want to hear different music. I carry my entire CD collection (100's) in my car so I would like to have something where I could play them with-out always having to remove the Navi DVD. But I do plan on getting an Ipod as well.
