So, everybody talks about Z1 remotes. What about N1,N2,N3 remotes? From what i understand, the D1, D2, N1, N2, and N3 can all use the same software. I have a modded N2 with the CNDV-60MT v1.0 software, and it is the newest software/maps fot the above mentioned units. It seems that every year a new map disc is released, and minor software upgrades are released during the year. If i'm correct, the next software would be CNDV60-1.1 (or CNDV70-1.0). I live in PA only about 30 miles from the OH border, and have no problems using only the east coast disc. I didnt even bother to open my copy of the west cost disc. The two discs should overlap in the middle, so you should be able to just use the east disc for all of PA and OH.

Yes. I use a Verbatium DVD+R DL disc for my maps. Works fine. Some people have said that the -R discs load faster. I personally have never tried one.

Thats why you only use the RW discs for uploading the boot images. Once that is done you can go back to using your regular nav disc and keep your custom boot screen. Worked for me perfectly.

I've played store-bought dvd's, dvd+r's, and dvd+rw's with no problems. Just make sure that you are burning a DVD with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders correctly.

Yes, you can control the level of the subwoofer preamp from -6 to +6. You can also adjust the low-pass frequency, set the gain of a specific frequency, and adjust the overall bass. One of the best subwoofer output controls i've ever seen in a hu.

If you want to just burn a single layer disc for uploading images, you can delete every POI* file in that same directory, and it should become small enough to fit on a single layer RW disc. I did this with the 60MT software for my N2 and had no problems, even though the POI* files were different from the ones listed in the original how-to.

This sounds like there is an issue with the disc you burnt. I've made plenty of MP3 CD's with no skipping at all (even with the bass up loud while driving). Try burning to a different brand of CD-R or using a different program. I always use Nero, burn the disc as an ISO, and have used Memorex and Verbatum discs with no problems.

Can you give some more information? Can you get the disc menu? Can you select the DVD from the a/v menu? Are you trying to play a retail DVD or one you burned yourself? Is this an actual DVD movie or something else on DVD? Have you tried while the car is parked? Have you upgraded your software?

A dvd+r will work. I've used dvd+r, dvd+rw, and dvd+r dl without any problems. Many have said that dvd-r's read faster, but in my experience the dvd+r's have been just fine. CD's will NOT work for software upgrades. DVD burners are only $40 online.

cndv-60 offers a completely re-vamped GUI, which in my opinion runs faster when selecting menus, entering addresses, etc. It also has updated maps, and changes a few other things (ipod/xm maybe? I dont have either). I like it much more than my cndv-50 1.1 software. There was a torrent for them on thepiratebay.com.

From what I understand, the CNDV-50MT v1.2 does not offer any upgraded maps. It is just a firmware/software update. It fixes the clock format (being stuck in 24hr mode in certain places) and a few other things. CNDV-60 offers new maps, along with new software.

Try hard-wiring your power supply directly to the battery positive and a good ground. This should solve the problem.

He is probably talking about looping the DVD output to the rear camera input. This will only let you watch a dvd, and it wont be full screen. This wont let you do any extra nav functions either.

I didn't do my install (it was 'free' through where I bought my N2), but I did have to buy an extra add-on for the on-star and for the door chime (something around $75/each if I remember correctly). As far as lights dimming or fuel readouts, I didn't hear anything about that. Try asking a stereo shop, tell them that you are interested in doing the install yourself but you need the extra parts from them, and ask them what the extra parts are, price, etc. Oh, I have a 2005 GMC Envoy.

Check that it does have the roads you are trying to take. My city recently added a new half mile connector that isn't on the maps, and it always tells me to take another route when that one would be some much easier. Also, you can try programming in the 'wrong' route, then driving your normal route and watching it re-route to see if it fixes itself.

I'm thinking of hooking a carputer up to my avic down the road. Unfortunately there wont be touch screen support with the Avic & carputer, but i'll be able to park in the right spot and surf the web. :P

Nero will do that. You can download the trial version from their website. There are cracks for it all over the place.

I'm curious to see if anyone has tried the headlight flashing trick on any units besides the z1. If people on ebay are selling kits that work for all avic units, my thoughts are that it would be accomplished by using the headlight flashing trick, since that is the only way to get video in motion on the z1. I would try this myself, but my avic-n2 is already modded...
