  1. I bought a drive from Garret after reading all the great reviews in this thread. The drive arrived quickly and was a snap to install. Everything works great just as it should. Thanks Garret!
  2. I've had mixed success with the navigation on the Z2 with 2007 maps. For example it tells you theres a Burger King right in front of you and your in the middle of a strech of road that has nothing on it. It's also hit and miss with direct addresses as well, sometimes it routes to the wrong side of the road and sometimes the address is a mile or two off. My Garmin is much much better. Do some searching if you can because there was a thread about this a few months ago. Just my two cents. Others have had grest success with their Z2's.
  3. I talked to the Pioneer rep via e-mail.

  6. I forgot to mention that my GMAHLANB has the diode mod installed to the switch Relay. I e-mailed Peripherial about this problem and they told me to install the diode. My unit had the diode on the relay when I bought it.
  7. I have my Z2 installed in a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup with Bose and Onstar, using GMAHLANB interface. Everything works great except when a passenger opens their door before I do. When I stop the truck and turn off the ignition, if the passenger opens any door (its a 4 door) before I do, the Z2 stays on for a short time usually a second or two, when it would usually shut right off. During that one or two seconds the volume starts going up to max and I'm pretty sure its because of the PESWIPS I also have installed. I had a problem with PESWIPS power that caused the volume to go high during i
  8. Factory passcode is 1111 and you can change it to what you want in the phone menu.
  9. Hmmm, I assume the unit powers up ok, in which case I'm not sure whats up. If RAP works and power turns on and off ok then GMLAN data is getting to the GMAHLANB otherwise it wouldn't turn the radio on. Make sure you have the amp turn on wire connected to the amp wire of the GMAHLANB. From what I've read without it the BOSE amp won't turn on and thus no output to the speakers. I seem to recall it being Blue/White wire from the Z2?? Also, double check your speaker wires and make sure you don't have any crossed. Hope this helps. Chris
  10. Hi, Does the FM/AM still work in the FM/AM source or does the HD module take over for everything? From the sound of things it take all three sources and puts them in control of the EXT source.
  11. I have a Garmin C550 and recently installed Z2. Garmin is better for all reasons listed above except the u-turn thing, I haven't been asked to make a U-turn yet. I have found that I can fool the Z2 to route me the same way the Garmin does by adding waypoints. Although usually longer, it will still get you there. I have had some addresses that were off by a few miles, but for the most part its bareable. And yes I've tried fastest time, shortest distance routing and its still about the same. Multiple routes works sometimes, as there is a choice if multiple routes to the destinati

I know you can choose alternate routes, if they are availble, when chooseing to accept a new route. You know that page that asks you is the route OK, by picking mulitple you can pick an alterate. Otherwise I don't know if it has a option to manually pick another route around traffic. I'm just getting to know mine so there may be other ways.
  13. Pioneer said that they do not forsee a firmware update regarding HD radio in the Z2 in the near future.
  14. No resistors requried for mine.
  15. Too bad. I've ordered the HD tuner but I do like the FM interface on the Z2. I hope Pioneer comes out with an update to make full use of the HD tuner.
  16. My factory GM XM receiver would only display about 15 characters as well. Is that a limitation of XM?
  17. I ment would Z2 support it other than an external device. Its currently only supported by the Z2 as an EXT device. At least thats what I'm told. How's the interface of the HD device? Is analog FM still available as a source, even though the antenna is not connected to the Z2? Will it only tune digital stations when the source is EXT?
  18. I e-mailed Pioneer to find out if they were going to do a firmware update that would support the HD tuner on the Z2. No responce yet but I'll post when they do.
  19. I e-mailed Pioneer about this, asking if they are going to do a firmware update for the HD tuner on the Z2. No responce yet but if I get one I'll post it.
  20. I used the GMLNAV for its VSS and Backup signal here's the link for the device: http://www.peripheralelectronics.com/pr ... ductID=327 Its just easier to get this signals from it than finding and tapping the factory VSS and backup sigs. I tapped the GM-LANBUS upstream of the GMAHLANB. I used the connector that has the battery and ground wires. The other GM-LANBUS wire on the second connector will not work (I think its connected to the factory XM receiver) I also used the LNAV's switched 12V wire to power the PESWIPS and the backup camera because they required a switched 12.
  21. I love the truck. The Denali looks best in black, but black shows everything. Minor scraches show up more on it then any other vehicle I have owned. Its also the best looking truck I've ever had. A coat of wax will make it shine for weeks and takes any noticable scraches out. It also comes in white and gray. Thanks for the complements, the install was tough, but its working great.
  22. Check out http://www.peripheralelectronics.com/ for the interfaces. I have no experence with mercedes, but the steering wheel and other interfaces from peripheral worked flawlessly with my 2007 GMC truck.
  23. Here's one on ebay similar to what I have. I took mine out of the license plate mount. http://cgi.ebay.com/Night-Vision-Licens ... dZViewItem
  24. The camera I used was very low power so that was not an issue.
