  1. You have to get the double DIN cage from Pioneer. LINK: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/Navigation/Accessories/ADT-VA133
  2. Your unit needs to be bypassed. Go to the hacks/mods: D-series board and read the three or four topics about the bypass at the top of the page.
  3. Change the genre of the tracks to the letter that it's artist starts with. Like select all your songs who's artist names start with S, and change their genre to "S". That way when you hit the genre button, a list of letters will come up and when you select one, it will only show artists who's name starts with that letter.
  4. Shouldn't be very hard to do. Just take your time and be careful when disassembling the unit.
  5. Yeah, they make a few remote controls for it.
  6. Yes, go to the f series hacks/mods board. Pretty big topic about it.
  7. Shouldn't this be something that YOU decide on? We're never going to see it, so what does it matter which one we think you should use? Just go with the one you like most, because it's your car. Screw what everyone else thinks!!!
  8. 9 topics down from this one... http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17910
  9. Not true. A few of us have figured it out. Ground p-brake wire and upload mod'd data.zip See hacks section! I though I read in that topic that the software bypass did not work on the F500 unit... maybe I'm wrong.
  10. With much less chance if screwing up your unit if you do it wrong.
  11. Have you look on Pioneer's website and read over the features that each unit has? It's pretty clear to see that they have pretty much all the same features besides the difference in hardware functions (disk drive, amplifier, radio tuner) They appear to both have all the same features. Flash based nav, voice recognition/command, bluetooth, msn direct, 3d landmarks, usb & sd card ports, high def 800x480 screen, rear view camera capability, ipod compatibility. Again, you can find all this on their website. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/Navigation/Portable/AVIC-F500BT
  12. Sorry... but that's an internal problem. Those should be on at all times the unit is on. There is no fuse for them. Unfortunately, the unit isn't under warranty any more. I think you can send it to Pioneer to have them fix it, but it's gonna cost you $200. Or at least I think that's what the flat repair rate was.
  13. If there is no blue sticker, it has not been updated. Go to Pioneer's website, download the update and follow their instructions to update your unit. THEN test out all the other things you mentioned that weren't working correctly to see if that fixed it. If the unit has already been updated, trying to update it again basically won't do anything. And your bypass is not done correctly. Check to see that both the mute wire and parking brake wires are grounded properly and that the relocated mute wire pin is firmly seated in the wiring harness. If all three of these things are done, the by
  14. If there were actually mods to delete or lock a topic, it would have been done when this topic was first posted.
  15. You can control the music 100% from the D3. Only when you want to play videos, you will have to hit a button or two on the ipod. No way around it. Just be thankful it works unlike with the newer ones.
  16. You could have asked this question IN THE TOPIC ABOUT IT.
  17. Only if you've got but got sausage fingers!
  18. How the hell is the knob slippery? Are you eating fried chicken while you are driving or something? Seems perfectly grippable to me...
  19. One is a head unit with built in GPS. The other is just a standalone GPS unit that interfaces with your car's current head unit.
  20. HiFiSi

    Called Pioneer.

It's been suggested numerous times already. Nobody's done it yet, at least as far as anyone here knows.
  21. Yes, there is nothing you can do (or should I say nothing anyone has discovered yet) that can get rid of that message.
  22. Do you mean an AVIC-D3 or a European AVIC-HD3BT ? Because the HD3BT is not a "D-series" unit here in the US, it's a "Z series" unit. It's basically the European version of the AVIC-Z3
