  1. I have tried about everything with the HDMI. 1. Apple digital A/V adapter 2. Apple TV(requires internet for apps, network for airplay) 3. Chromecast(requires network for casting) 4. Mac Mini(requires keyboard and mouse, hotspot for internet) 5. Android mini computer/tv stick(requires wireless keyboard and mouse) 6. Sony mini camcorder(for dashcam) What i have figured out, is for most of this to work, you have to have to have either internet access and/or a network(via router or hotspot) in your vehicle. The other issue, is hdmi will only play on the head unit, and can't be mirrored to
  2. Glad to see you back in business, I am pretty sure the antenna on the head unit was problematic. the antenna should not be mounted on any sensor or anything that will interfere with the radio waves from the satellites to the antenna. Best place is on roof of auto, second best is on dash or rear shelf, least is in a position that blocks or interferes with radio waves. That being said, If it works, then that is the best place for your install. I have a Silverado 3/4 ton truck, and ran the thing where it sits on dash and wire runs between windshield and dash and just the little black box is see
  3. I purchased one off amazon, PNY high performance, for 109.00. I reformatted the samsung 64 sdxc, and put it in a sony mini camcorder.
  4. I am posting the results of 256 gb sdcard formatted to fat32, and filled with ripped movies from dvds, and converted iTunes movies purchased and protection removed. The sdcard was formatted by my macbook pro using the native disc utility, the head unit took a few minutes to read format, and voila, everything works as it should. I can shut it down, go into corner store, come back out and movie starts right where it left off. I like this setup, because the rear will play the movies from sdcard, using dual zone, and i can have carplay, app radio, or whatever on the head unit. Whereas before i
  5. see page 27 in the installation manual: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/AVIC-7000NEX_InstallationManual011014.pdf
  6. I would be very upset with my installer, if it was professionally installed. the gps antenna has a very long cord for installing in a close to line of site position.
  7. Are you saying the gps antenna was in you dash, on the head unit? If so, It cannot get a gps signal, the antenna should be routed and sitting on top of your dash, to get a clear signal from the satellites. I cannot see it ever getting a constant signal if it is in your dash and not on it. I would run it as close to the center front part of your windshield.
  8. LOL, if all else fails, read the manual.
  9. My MacBook pro is a little older, so I had to upgrade the ram myself. I also upgraded the hard drive to 480gb solid state drive and removed the dvd drive and installed the 1 tb spinning drive in its place. I took the Mac mini apart and moved the 1 th drive to slot 2, and installed SSD to slot 1. If I need DVD drive, I just plug in superdrive to USB port on either machine.
  10. Should have SD card in hand tomorrow from Amazon. Will format after work, and put on the ripped dvds and converted m4v(converted to remove Apple's Protection) purchased in iTunes. I will post results.
  11. I do have bypass installed, and it was greyed out once, but if I recall, I had to turn off all inputs. After updating to 1.08 firmware, I reset head unit, and have yet to get out mic and set the eq again.
  12. I too am using VMWare Fusion with windows 7, and Windows 8.1(have both and use 7 for things like this) I installed 16 GB of ram in my MacBook and my Mac mini(really helps, I can dedicate 8 GB to Windows when running VMWare.)
  13. The only workaround, is using HDMI to composite adapter. Hooking up to a/v input, and mirroring a/v.
  14. I purchased a Samsung pro 64 GB sdxc card and formatted to fat32, filled with flac about 2 months ago, and have had no issues whatsoever. I am going to purchase 256 GB sdxc card and put movies and try it out next.
  15. Navi tool will backup to your computer, before anything changes are made. I did this on my avic-u260 add on for my 4000Nex( mine uses SD card , not USB, because it is addon not built-in)
  16. You get an 8 GB thumbnail drive formatted to fat32. And install on Nex usb, then sync, then remove and install on pc running the Navi tool, install updates, then return to nex and sync to update. This is short version. Directions will be more detailed.
  17. Directions are here https://pioneer.naviextras.com/shop/portal/p2howto-guide?guide=Toolbox&topic=FirstSteps
  18. Fyi, you can use USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure. I use one with my 480 GB Intel SSD.
  19. E-brake issue normally only is for video, but since this is only done with engine off, and key on. It could be keeping it from working.
  20. Have you tried turning off all inputs. Home button, then arrow up to show inputs, hit off on bottom right. Then see if it is greyed out.
  21. AppRadio does not need to be hooked up to usb1, it can be hooked up to any usb port including car charger. I use AppRadio and the lightning cable is hooked up to car charger and have solid state drives on both usb ports on nex. It works great and doesn't use up usb1 just to charge, and it will continue to charge even when vehicle is off.
  22. I am assuming you are talking about the apple digital a/v adapter, with lightning connector. I found the nex did not charge my phone very well, so i hooked up the lightning to usb cable that goes into the adapter to car charger instead of the head unit. This also leaves the usb ports on the nex open for other input devices like usb thumbnail drives or solid state drives.
  23. If audio and Apple maps is all you want, CarPlay is adequate. But I want total control of my iPhone's apps(all of them), and use of all the inputs on my NEX, without changing cords, changing smartphone setup, every time i want to use an app made for our head units. This whole NEX-CarPlay-AppRadio experience has been a continuing disappointment for me. It could be years before we see what a lot of us have envisioned since the arrival of the NEX head units and the hype that both companies have been dishing out. They should have put a disclaimer on every feature that reads,"may or may not work a
  24. absolutely correct, With the NEX, you have to change connections, and settings, to go from CarPlay to AppRadio. CarPlay has to have USB connection and CarPlay enabled in smartphone settings, and AppRadio has to have digital adapter connection in smartphone settings. As posted before, some of the apps like Waze have to be set in their app settings to enable AppRadio mode.
