  1. Please do take a picture if you can. I'm very interested to see if there's an improvement.

Typical Pioneer BS. And, if Apple is holding up approval, it's probably because Pioneer's half-baked software just doesn't work.
  3. On the Pioneer head unit itself.
  4. While in CarPlay mode, press the home button and go to settings. From there, adjust the brightness and contrast and your changes will show up in CarPlay. Non-CarPlay settings will not be affected. Also, you can adjust it with the headlights off for daytime settings and then again with headlights on for nighttime settings.
  5. I'm sure it'll be out by early summer.
  6. Thanks for making this! Looks like it might be worth giving this a try. It's just enough of an improvement to make a noticeable difference.
  7. Would be very interested to see this video if you make it.
  8. Sorry, my bad. I'm on an iPhone forum where it seems like every other thread gets derailed by Android-vs-Apple stuff and nothing ever gets accomplished, so I assumed that was what was happening here. I'll think twice next time.
  9. So I guess you like Android. Good for you, but let's try to focus on the topic at hand and help the guy with his problem, not go off on our own personal biases. Lots of people think Android sucks too, but I'm not sure how that helps the OP at all.
  10. None of those apps you mention are CarPlay compatible. Hit the NEX icon and go back to the Pioneer interface and you should be able to access them from there (assuming you have all the cables installed for Appradio).
  11. CBS News shows up in my CarPlay and works pretty well. Still waiting for MLB At Bat.
  12. Absolutely; as I said, I'm waiting for the reviews. But if it can rival the sound quality of the Pioneer units AND have all these other features, it's a no-brainer. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
  13. Yeah, it really looks great. Hopefully it'll be released soon and then, if the initial reviews are good, this will be my next head unit. It has everything my 4000NEX has audio-wise, like time alignment and a good EQ, with a MUCH better screen and much nicer interface than the horrible Pioneer one (which looks like it was created in 1998).
  14. I actually ended up going with a SanDisk Extreme 128GB flash drive, and so far it's working great. When I need more storage, I'll probably step up to SSD.
  15. They give him one troubleshooting suggestion for a minor keyboard issue and when that doesn't work, they want him to send the whole unit back to them for three weeks? That sounds like pretty bad customer service to me, actually. If you had read the original post in between all of your "lol"-ing, you might realize that it's not so unreasonable to want a few more options in between doing a reset and ripping the entire stereo out of your car and being without it for almost a month.
  16. The moment I can reasonably afford to buy a new head unit, I'm going to buy a different brand than Pioneer and never look back. The way this company treats its customers is a joke. Customer satisfaction is an afterthought at best.
  17. This looks like a beautiful machine. Might just be my next unit: http://www.cnet.com/news/parrot-rnb-6-head-unit-ces-2015/
  18. For the 5000, wouldn't you use the RGB port with the adapter for USB/VGA?
  19. Pretty sure the press release said that the current NEX models would NOT be getting this update, unfortunately.
  20. The only thing I can think of (because I had a similar problem at first) is to check the "Alerts" volume. This setting comes up when you press the regular volume buttons up or down (look on the far right-hand side of the volume bar that pops up). When my 4000NEX was first installed, this setting was at maximum, resulting in anything like Siri or phone calls being EXTREMELY loud, and a constant static even when there were no alerts. As soon as I turned it down (I think I have it at 3 now), everything instantly got better. Hope that helps.
  21. I've looked, and I can't seem to find this info anywhere. Does anyone know if the 4000NEX has USB 3.0 or 2.0 inputs? Thanks.
  22. I had the capacitive screen with my Appradio 3, and gave it up to get the 4000NEX so I could have CarPlay (and the better EQ/tuning capabilities). I have to say, I do miss the smoothness of the capacitive screen. It scrolled so nicely, while I feel like the screen in the 4000 is a bit more difficult to manage.
  23. What do you mean by gimped CarPlay? Isn't CarPlay the same on all units?
  24. Does anyone know exactly what DAC is used in the NEX units? Not sure if that would be published anywhere.
