  1. I just replaced my 5000 with a 6100. Mitrax has to be installed on your iPhone.
  2. I updated unit and BT firmware, will update map after the fight.
  3. This post is one reason I didn't hesitate to replace my AVIC-5000NEX with a new AVIC-6100NEX. No compelling reason to wait for the AVIC-6200NEX. And always a good reason to save a few hundred dollars. Thanks for the info! Firmware update completed, very, very pleased. Don
  4. Well I visited a shop and told the owner the 6200 is out soon. He gave me the 6100 for $700. I don't mind being one version behind, but being on the first version was annoying. It was a clean swap from the 5000 > 6100, except I need another face plate since the unit is about 1/4 sunk. Screen is superb, didn't expect it to be so responsive. HD Radio is awesome! Traffic, at last! You guys are right, I probably won't use HDMI. I already got an offer for $350 for the 5000. I'm downloading the firmware update (is at 1.01). Brandy spanky new, never powered on - so I'll hav
  5. Firmware update 1.11 for the AVIC-5000NEX fixed the screen responsiveness (or lack thereof) issue.
  6. Oops...yes, 6200...corrected. LA area.
  7. I actually moved to Southern California in mid 2015 (donmontalvo.wordpress.com). I corrected my profile. I'm contemplating getting a Pioneer AVIC-6200NEX, for the HDMI, HD Radio, and Traffic Tuner. I figure I'll sell the Pioneer AVIC-5000NEX for $300, and I'll save $129.99 on the map upgrade...so I'll only be shelling out $200-300 (assuming PAC RP4-HD11 will work). Decided after seeing how the other brands don't really offer any compelling reason to switch. I still think Pioneer has a sucky business model, lazy development, and unfair map update policy. Don
  8. Yea, I like the ability to do online searches, but to be honest, not better than Siri. I just want to select a contact and have AVIC navigation take me there. But no go. Just more vaporware being released to pacify disgruntled customers While they slipstream in updated models that don't bring Wireless CarPlay or anything else significant. The AVIC-5000NEX is the last Pioneer car unit I will ever buy.
  9. Yea, I'm looking to replace my AVIC-5000NEX with some other brand. Not happy with Pioneer's laziness/aloofness, they don't get any more of my money.
  10. Wow, AVICSYNC does not support iOS 9?! Pioneer should fire the AVICSYNC team.
  11. Report it using the Feedback app what is installed.
  12. Unfortunately not much to gain by accepting. LOL Can't get NEX to recognize my iOS contacts.
  13. I wish it did sync automagically, well, I wish it would sync my contacts, so I can pick one and have NEX take me to the address. But AVICSYNC completely #fails, saying "No valid address found". Complete garbage.
  14. If you want to help Apple flag/fix issues, jumping on the Public Beta is a good way to make things happen.
  15. I've been jumping on the iOS public betas for the past year or more. Very happy to get incremental updates before they are released to the public. The non-public beta gets the newest fixes, so public beta is better.
  16. Did the Apple Store shirt-ified "genius" advise replacing the cable? Also jump on the iOS public beta, to get the latest incremental fixes, and to help Apple by giving feedback.
  17. I didn't read all the posts on this thread but this last one caught my eye. When things get that bad, restore your iPhone to factory state and go from there. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201252
  18. I just want my iOS contacts to sync to AVICSYNC. I can live without the other stuff.
  19. Yea, I'm not giving Pioneer any more of my money. Meh, they just released the Q1 2015 update, and it is Q1 2016 in a few days!
  20. Took a closer look, hoping maybe the initial Contacts sync needs to happen over Bluetooth. No luck. Nada. Zilch. Even a fresh new contact, isn't seen by AVICSYNC. Internet searches work, I guess that's useful, since Apple Maps sucks on the open road. I can't believe Pioneer management is so out of touch with their internal development group. A feature is promised, and it only gains traction when a bunch of people complain. Then the traction amounts to shipping a half baked product that doesn't do what it is advertised to do. I guess incompetence is indeed marketable, thanks
  21. Apple Maps is awesome. But its A-GPS that is the problem. Great for cities. Stinks on the open road. Plus Apple Maps lacks some core features for navigating on the open road. I love iOS and CarPlay, after all I help manage 10,000 Macs at a major multimedia company. But, Apple Maps is pretty worthless outside of the city. Just my opinion. Apple Maps is a LOT better if you pair it to a GPS unit such as: http://gps.dualav.com/explore-by-product/xgps150a/
  22. I'm going to go out on a limb and say, maybe Pioneer went cheap and hired cheap/incompetent developers? How else can you explain the #1 core reason for needing AVICSYNC (tapping into iOS contacts) does not work? Someone at Pioneer should be fired. And someone's manager.
  23. Wow, very nice. But AVICSYNC on iOS is clearly half baked. Feature to use iOS contacts is greyed out. What good is AVICSYNC if we can't use our iOS contacts?
