  1. I had ordered a Fujitsu with better specs than the toshiba, and it rebooted a few times. Got the Toshiba 60GB auto drive and have not had a problem. So I guess it pays to have toshiba.
  2. 30, 40, and 60 have been widely used with success Not to butt in...but would it be safe to use a 60GB as is, without expanding any of the partitions? Thanks, got a 60 on order, should be here next week. FYI, took the car for a drive, played music from my library, looked up a POI and was talking to a friend via B/T, and it seemed all fine. Got back, parked, transferred a couple of Contacts from my phone and got a reboot. So there you have it. Thanks for your help and advise Hyperite. Michael
  3. Hyperite Thanks for the info. Thats what I figured. Is there a particular size Toshiba GAX drive you recommend. Since I don't give two hoots about expanding the music partition, I assume the 40GB would be fine. Michael.
  4. Hi all Firstly, Thanks must go out to Hyperite and the gang for putting this together for us. It is important to respect the contributors of this community if we are to continue to received the fruits of their labor. To my question. I performed the update onto a new Fujitsu MHV2080AH 80 GB drive. Drive is rated at 300G/900G for Shock.(Could not get my hands on a Toshiba yesterday). My unit is a vanilla Z2, with B/T and XM/NavTraffic (Sept 07), so I pulled my original drive and set it aside. My initial attempt at the image on Fuji failed with reboots on the Z2. I tried to extend t
  5. I have been getting complete XM Sound Blackout. Radio is still recognised by Z2, still get song name/artist, but no sound. Restart the car and sound returns. This is on the P10XMT NavTraffic Tuner. Also loose Traffic feed. M
  6. This has occured to me several times. I will be driving along, on route, with NavTraffic. After a while, the triffic just stops. Not speed lines ont he frreway, no Traffic Events, no Traffic Flow. If I want it back, I have to turn off the car, wait, and then start eveything up again. Aling with this, I have experienced no sound on XM. So I think it has to do with the quality of XM Tuner. M
  7. I have had pretty good success with the PIO Vicinity Search. I have found Macy's, Fedex and UPS locations. I have also been able to find very obscure locations, like my Wheel Alignment Shop (no a chain), several of my customers (which are manufacturers in warehouse environments) and businesses in malls and other large buildings. I am located int he greater LA area, so location may have something to do with it. There have been a few places that the name registered in the PIO DB is difference from the general name. Michael.
  8. Sending Contacts to the AVIC requires support by your phone. In most cases, contacts are transferred one by one. Again this is a phone firmware thing. To transfer contacts Go to the Phone Menu and press the Receive Bus. Cards (I am doing this from memory, so bare with me). The AVIC will disconnect from your phone and go into a waiting mode. On your phone you start the Send Contact process. AFAIK the AVIC will receive as many contacts your phone will send on one shot. When all is said and done, the AVIC will reconnect to your phone. I have a Motoroal V3c from Verizon. The
  9. I assume you have a P10 XM Radio unit. You shoulg have the Power (Yellow) and Ground (Black) hooked up (ACC (red) is not required), the IP Bus and Data Cable to the Z2 and your antenna plugged in and exposed to the sky, IP Bus cable controls the XM Radio unit and transmits audio to the Z2. The Data Cable sends the Traffic Info to the Z2. If you are getting no signal, then either the radio is not on or the antenna cannot pick up a signal. M

    VSS Wire

THe White/grren wire will either be part of the harness that goes to the G35 H/U or a seperate wire. Looking at the wiring diagram, it is the only White/Green to the H/U. Don'y get this confused with Green/White. Based on the diagram it should be bunched with the Green, Red and Yellow for steering controls. If I still had ny G35 I would take a look. If the harnesses are labeled, look for M39. Michael.

    VSS Wire

This is what another G35 owner posted a while back. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10573 2/3 way down, there is an attachement of the wiring diagram.
