  1. Check out the rr-usb2-splitter that's sold by usbfirewire.com.
  2. Speed zone alerts - sorta works. Most of my local roads in FL are accurate. Some are so accurate the alert sound at the sign. I can't say the same for the roads I travel on in WA though. The main road to my home there is 45mph and I have to be doing 55mph before I'm alerted. RR crossings alerts - sorta works. There's a nasty RR I have to go over where I live but I don't get an alert. A second RR I cross occasionally in town had a bridge built over it several years ago but I'm alerted there. I was alerted of several RR crossings in the Finger Lakes region of NY. The RR crossing in
  3. I have purchased several Pioneer head units in the past year and was wondering how you faired. You get major kudos from me for your perseverance. FWIW, I took my 7000nex out of my car over the weekend and discovered that there was no sticker on the units body indicating a SN. There is no evidence of a sticker being there either. The only places I have a SN is on the box it came in and on the yellow paper requesting that the product be registered. After thinking about for a while, I remembered Dana from IdataLink hd sent me an email when I was trying to install an RR. Here's
  4. Yes, it's mentioned on page 69 & then page 71-73 it goes into more detail about AvicSync.
  5. ARU and ARUR work on the 7100 and 8100 units.
  6. I concur, solder/heat shrink is best. This is one version. I use them for testing only, final installs are solder/heat shrink. 22-18 GA RED INSTANT TAP CONNECTOR IDC WITH STOP
  7. If your Nissan already has a USB port, PAC makes a retention cable so you can continue to use your OEM USB port. Google PAC USB-NI2
  8. Check that Private Mode is set to OFF while on a call.
  9. NEX BYPASS worked fine with my 7000 & 1.03. I didn't have to reset it either.
  10. In regards to the X000 map issue, since the 1.03 firmware changes both the device and navigation numbers, I suspect we'll need to update to the X100 maps. Unfortunately, Naviextras doesn't have the X100 units listed yet so we can see what happens when trying to update.
  11. Download the firmware on page 1 of this thread for the 8000 (1.08) to 8100 (1.03) firmware onto a USB flash drive. USB drive formatted to FAT 32 and make sure it's empty. Turn off BT on your phone. Disconnect any USB/AUX/HDMI connections. Turn your 8000 on. Turn off the display. Press the gears in upper right corner. Press the BT icon on bottom left. Scroll down to BT Software Update. Insert USB flash drive into USB 1. Press start and wait.
  12. I kept the 1.03 BT firmware update after reverting back to 1.08 firmware. I have new hearing aids so I can't comment whether there's a difference in sound between the 1.08 BT and 1.03 BT firmware. I can say for sure that the 1.03 BT firmware allows my phone (Note 4) to connect quicker from a cold start. With the 1.08 BT firmware the BT icon would flash 15-18 times before connection. With the 1.03 BT the BT icon flashes only 3-5 times before connection. BT range is worse, much worse! With 1.08 BT firmware I was able to walk to my mailbox and master bath on the other side of my
  13. Sorry, I should have stated the navigation does come back when I reinstall 1.08.
  14. Haven't seen this mentioned yet. On my 7000, installing 1.03 changes the navigation firmware from 9.18.13411863 to 9.18.23.497282 and this was the result.
  15. The x100's 1.03 firmware is only 1 part of what's needed. We need the BT firmware from the x100nex so the radio and BT communicate. This is of course, assuming that the x000nex will accept it. X100 BT firmware: x000 BT firmware:
  16. The 2014 NEX bluetooth firmware is: HW01-SW03.21.30 The 2015 NEX bluetooth firmware is: HW01-SW03.41.10 DOes anyone have access to the actual BT firmware for the 2015 NEX's?
  17. Root isn't the problem, it's the locked bootloader. There is a developer edition of the Note 4 for Verizon that has an unlocked bootloader and is rootable right out if the box.
  18. The blank cover next to the push button start is my solution to driving during daylight hours with my parking and or headlamps on while keeping my 7000's screen from dimming. I used an OEM foglight switch and epoxied the top of an OEM blank to it.
  19. You don't need root to mirror using the HDMI input. You only need root to control the phone via the head unit. Sucks that the bootloaders are locked on the ATT and consumer version Verizon Note 4's. You can use all of the launchers I listed above without root so that the phones display is potrade properly in landscape.
  20. Correct, you still need root to utilize ARUR.
  21. This is how Touchwiz displays in landscape. This is how an alternative launcher displays in landscape. I use Nova Prime but Apex, Google Now and others will work just as well.
  22. You need to use a different launcher with Samsung phones. Apex, Nova, Google Now, etc.
  23. Check Metra/Axxess for an adapter. These adapters don't plug into the back of the USB port but plug into the wire harness in the dash. I don't see one specifically for a 2014 4runner but that doesn't mean the ones they make for other model years won't work. eBay has several USB ports that can easily replace your existing USB port. This might be your best bet.
  24. I'd check USB 1 to see if it's used to update the radios firmware on the 4000. I have a USB cable inatalled on USB 1 for firmware updates and to add personal background images. I do use it for a music via flashdrive when I loose cell phone signal driving x country. I can't say connecting the radios USB cable to your vehicles USB port is possible because I don't know what your driving. If you have a Honda, the answer is a definite yes.
