  1. I thought this was just for the nex100 - you updated your 8000? (nex000)? what is new in the update? so we can update our maps from the nex100 series update?
  2. no it does not. I can still use my iPhone while plugged in and using carplay. But if you are using maps and you pick up your phone go to say messages, your screen will change to the messaging screen. If you go to the home screen or any other app thats not carplay on your phone, your screen on your NEX will go to the carplay home screen.
  3. ok I found this on apple support communities: "I did some more testing based on your information, and yes, it does show up in Settings once you plug the iPhone into the Carplay stereo via the lightning cable. Some nice improvements to Carplay from 8.3. Thanks for the info" I will check when I leave from work today. My guess is that its not showing up cause it does not detect a Carplay stereo capable of wireless. I just sent a message to someone from a Subaru Crosstrek forum that I know has the alpine carplay stereo to see if its working for him and how it works etc.... You k
  4. Yes it is a lack of limitation of the HU. But I would figure the option would be listed in the settings to pair. I have held the voice button down on my steering wheel and I get siri.
  5. I am starting to think that Apple pulled it. OR it doesn't show up unless your car has the ability to do wireless. On the Beta for 8.3 people said it showed up under carplay in general settings, and now its not. But the release notes say wireless car play. Apple has pulled features before on the public releases, but usually they will change the release notes. maybe it slipped by them. honestly, its not that big of a deal to me, but still be nice.
  6. you won't get wifi connect, the NEX does not have a wifi chip
  7. True! But, for a quick run to the store etc, it would be nice not to have to plug in the phone and have it connect immediately when HU starts up.
  8. found this on techcrunch talking about 8.3 beta. http://techcrunch.com/2015/02/09/ios-8-3-beta-arrives-with-wireless-carplay-support/ I wonder why that option isn't showing up to pair. I would figure that, even if it needed adhoc wifi that the NEX doesn't have, the option would be their to pair. Even though it will fail. So the question is, why isn't there an option for wireless under carplay.
  9. so, the x100 won't have it either then? cause other than the screen, they are the same fraking unit.
  10. I had the same problem forever. I finally bit the bullet and did a full restore without using a back up, which was what apple told me to do months ago. No bluetooth issues anymore with the car, with my garmin devices, or anything. So I suggest that.
  11. I am guessing that there needs to be a firmware upgrade to use wireless. I bet the x100 will get it but not the U.S. First gen. Boo!
  12. Up it showed up then. There is no wireless option. Only option is to use CarPlay when iPhone is locked.
  13. where is the carplay settings on the phone?
  14. updating now. I will be testing in about 40 minutes when I leave the office.
  15. thats gotta be kinda hard going from the 8000 to the 41000. there a lot of features that you lost.
