  1. All of the signals for the front panel of the unit flow through the flex cable.
  2. What version of the software are you running? Perhaps upgrading the N3 software will solve your issue...
  3. All of the signals for the faceplate travel through the ribbon cable. I had a problem with my + and - buttons not working. Replacing the ribbon cable solved this!
  4. It's your ribbon cable. I bet you'll loose your screen next!
  5. Sounds like somebody fudged the install. Your blue buttons should shut off after removing the key from your ignition, then shortly thereafter, the screen should flip down into the deck. As for your VSS wire, I'd imagine that someone hooked it up to your tachometer. It should not move as your vehicle is standing still. Go to the connections screen and listen to your pulses. They should not pulse until you begin to move, and they will start out slowly and with a slow tone. As you increase in speed, the tone will increase in pitch and will also increase in repetition. If you are not
  6. Ya, I'd use a front end software to run DiVx files, etc..., and of course MP3's. It'd be great to have this storage medium available on the AVIC's.
  7. Hehe, working with a local here on hooking up a HDD to the N2/N3 unit's. Trying to get ahold of the Z1 schematics to compare to the N2/N3's schematics and find out where the differences are. He's the person who has been modding N2's to N3's for quite some time. We've discovered that there are in fact USB ports on the N2/N3 as well as IDE ports!
  8. Ya, the guy who does these on eBay lives in my town. I just recently took my unit to his shop to do the N3 upgrade and fix my screen issues. He seems pretty knowledgeable, so you could call his shop and talk to him about the process. He said he's done over 900 of them!
  9. I took my unit in today to be modded to an N3. The guy who does the mod's told me to watch out for downloaded ISO's because there's one out that will fry the GPS capabilities of the unit when loaded. He also told me how to tell the difference. He said that when you first load the software, if the screen says 1/1 instead of 1/2 when the loading first begins, you should cut off the unit immediately or it will corrupt the unit. However, I have been running N3 software on my N2 for quite some time and I also acquired it off of a .torrent. However, it worked perfectly fine. I hoste
  10. This is a good idea. I've been pondering the setup myself. However, I knew that there was no way of using the existing touch screen to be able to interface with the PC. This, I believed, would negate using front end programs.. However, I feel that the Gyration mouse setup might be possible and not be too tacky. Also, a good alternative could be the Microsoft Media Center keyboard or similar small keyboard with mouse controls. Being an electronics technician, I also wondered if it would be possible to tap into the screens touch-screen data and convert it to use by PC Serial port or simila
  11. There are new torrents that are 2.35BG in size. Please follow the old links and scroll to the bottom of the page to follow the link for the new torrents. Thanks!
  12. So far I am the only uploader and my max upload is ~250kB/s. I only have 1 peer connected on the East Coast DVD and 2 on the West Coast so it's utilizing my entire upload bandwidth at the moment. I'm sorry if it takes long but it's around 6.3GB. If those who get the entire files keep seeding then other people who wish to D/L the DVD's will get them faster. You should burn the disk in Alcohol onto a dual layer DVD.

  15. I like the positioning of the antennas. Most people probably won't even notice them!
  16. You'd be best of running the D1 seperately from the factor radio and building a fiberglass and/or custom enclosure for it if you want to retain the factory XM. The XM is built into the factory radio so removing it will remove the XM capability. Now if you're talking about utilizing the factor XM antenna, that's a different story. Splicing into it shouldn't be a problem. Look at Crutchfield.com and add that stereo to your cart. The site will ask about your model vehicle and put the appropriate items needed for the install into your cart, such as the wiring harness and bracketry. I believe
  17. That's how the system operates if you don't have the bypass or your emergency brake is not tapped properly. I would check these first.
  18. I had the iPod adapter for my N2 and it really really sucked. Supposedly the new line will have a better interface. But as it is right now I am running the Belkin car charger that has the line out on the plug for your cig. lighter. What I did was get behind my dash and tap in another 12v accessory socket and plug it in there, then run the 1/8" mini jack to RCA wire to the hide-away unit. The cable to my iPod comes from within my dash and is the only exposed wire. The good thing about this unit is that if your car cus off the 12v accessory jack's power when you turn off the car, it will p
