  1. Is there a need to keep seeding? I'll fire mine back up if so. Garrettoomey I appreciate you letting me in on this when you first beta tested. Shoot me a pm or email me at nysvt4jt@msn.com because I don't get a chance to log on here as often as others. Let me know boss B-F
  2. You have the right idea, but no...first off, that blue/white wire is the amp turn on, which is also called the remote wire. You're probably thinking that those are two separate wires, but they are one in the same, just have different names. That blue/white wire (let's call it the remote wire for simplicity) on the head unit harness is used to carry a "turn on" signal from the head unit, to whatever it's connected to. In your case, the head unit tells your amp to turn on. All you need to do is send that same "on" signal to the relay, via that wire. All you really need to do is splice/crimp
  3. Call again and say this; "I was just doing some online research and I saw that XM is offering a one time only, one year subscription for $77 by using the ZWINBACK (spell it out) code and I would like to take advantage of this." Did you call the 800 number I posted above, during business hours? If so, then keep trying. FYI all of my radio's are Pioneer GEX-P920's. My truck and my wife's truck are refurbed units from Ebay and the third one that I just activated today was used from ebay. None were new, none are OEM. Stick to your guns, it will work.
  4. Okay, so after a few calls and getting nowhere over the weekend, I finally cracked the code You can renew at the $77/yr rate, but you cannot do it through the regular call center because they will tell you till they are blue in the face, that it is only available as a one time promotion. What you have to do is when you call about the renewal and they tell you the new regular rate $142.??, you make mention of cancelling your subscription because you can't afford it, or it's too expensive or something to that nature. IMPORTANT - When the CSR asks you if you are thinking of cancelling, sa
  5. You can use a toggle switch, but it's cleaner in my opinion to use a relay, that way there's no stinkin switches to worry about. You crank up the car and hit the OK on the disclaimer screen and off you go. Go back to page one of this thread and read the posts. Relay part# and instructions (to include a very large diagram) are all there.
  6. ...or just dish out the $20 and buy a new one...just my $.02
  7. I'm no pro at it, but I would guess that all you need from the remote wire is the initial "command" to turn on. I would make a Y cable and send one end to the amp and the other end to the relay. That way the HU sends that command to both...make sense?
  8. Further explanation from Garrettoomey's post above; instances you'd connect it to a PC would be to do more advanced stuff like doing the XM logo update, upating the nav with the most up to date maps (you have a Z3 so you're good), changing the start up screen image and a few other fun things. Pull up a chair, read a little and make yourself at home. Welcome to the forums
  9. ...should've been around while the gettin' was good
  10. Nice Which number did you call and about what time of the day was it? I ask because after a certain time of the day, the calls get routed to other countries and I have a feeling that the reason some folks are getting rejected is because they aren't hitting the right call centers... The receiver in my truck ($77/yr) I got that deal when I called at night and hit a call center in the Phillippines. It took a couple of calls, but I finally got it. My wife's receiver (3 yrs free) I hit a US call center and got it. All the calls before the US call were overseas and no one knew about the prom

  12. I'm curious to see how your renewal goes. My radio which is the $77/yr account is up at the end of March and I'll be damned if I'm paying $145/yr...
  13. So is the Mic assembly built in?? Like I said I have nothing except the unit itself.. Would I need this also to utilize bluetooth hand free calling? As for the antenna, is it safe to say aftermarket works just as well? No the mic isn't built in per se`, it's separate from the Z. One end plugs in the back of the Z and you run the actual mic to where you want to mount it in the vehicle. Yes you need the mic to utilize handsfree calling (still need to get the ND-BT1 adaptor as well) and you also need the mic if you want to take advantage of the voice command feature on the Z. I can't
  14. I just put the ND-BT1 in my truck last week and sent my contact list all at once. Once the BB has been registered and connected you need to go to the contacts option on the Z (I think it's called business card?) and select it. The Z will tell you to send the contacts from your BB. In the BB menu there is an option to send contacts and you choose it. Worked like a charm with both of my BB's...Curve 8330 and Curve 8350i.

Mic assembly comes with the Z1 itself, not with the bluetooth module (ND-BT1) Aftermarket GPS receiver? You have a GPS receiver in the Z1,
  16. My guess is that the pin that you are re-connecting it to needs to be grounded. It was the same with my Avic Z1. Welcome to the forums
  17. Carrier: Nextel Phone name/model: Blackberry Curve 8350i Transfer Contacts: All at once Calling: Fully functional Running an Avic Z1 w/Z3 update and ND-BT1
  18. +1 If they don't have the attention span to read through the whole thread to get the info that's been given repeatedly, they definitely shouldn't attempt driving with motion video in their car
  19. Sounds fishy to me...I'd take the Z1 back and find yourself another seller. Wiring harnesses can be found on ebay, just use the link to the Pioneer parts page and figure out the part numbers. To get the Z! up and running by itself, you'll need both harnesses and the GPS antenna. Bluetooth module (ND-BT1) is about $100+/- on ebay. If your seller doesn't come through, I have one BNIB that I'll sell you. I just pulled the XM module out of the wife's car, so I may have a GEX-P920 to sell as well...it's got the power harness and Bus cable, but you'll need to get an antenna. I hope y
  20. +1. I've had mine in for over a year and no problems. I manage a service department for an electronics/AV integrator and I'll tell you from experience that refurbs are just as good, if not better than A-Stock items. Refurbs (B-Stock) are items that came back in on manufacturers warranty fixes and other types of cases as well. What the manufacturer does is fix the issue, fully test the unit as they would a new one and then box it back up for re-sale. Technically they cannot call it brand new and sell at full retail, hence the refurbished name and drastically lower price. Refurbs are the
  21. Its worth another try!! p.s. I have a 910 that isn't in use in very good condition just put a new antenna on it last year. Doesn't work with my F90 though. Pm me if you would like to purchase. Sounds tempting, but I'm looking for the P10, the one that's Nav Traffic capable. Good luck with your call and post your results
  22. I bought the wife an AVH-P4000 and GEX-P920 last week for Christmas for her Chevy Equinox. I installed them both and then started looking online for XM codes/deals like I did with my first setup. I found out that Infinity was offering a 36 month trial with all new 2008 Infinity QX56 SUV's. According to the person that posted the tip, all you had to do was call XM, tell them you just bought the '08 QX56 and would like to enroll for the free 36 month trial. It took 4 tries, but on that 4th call I spoke with a young lady named Trinea and within a couple minutes of me telling her my radio
  23. Just bringing this one back to the top... I've got an AVH-P4000 on the bench right now, I wired up a relay like pictured above and all is good. A solution like this is much less conspicuous and automated than the toggle switch method. Try it, you'll like it
