  1. Sounds scary to me. It was so easy to remove the unit from my truck, remove the face plate from the unit, drill the hole. It took less than an hour to do it all, probably closer to half an hour and had no idea what I was doing. My advice would be to reconsider.
  2. For what it is worth. I have a 4200, but is currently not installed. Searching thru the manual and the website describing this unit I see nothing that refers to “network mode”
  3. It was just luck. I happened to be looking when you posted. Did you use Windows to burn the image to the sd card ? I found that to be an issue for me.
  4. You can’t read the old card because the head unit password protects it making it unreadable unless you know the code. There are a bunch of different partitions on the software, 7 could be right. Which unit do you have, the 4400 ?
  5. I used the 4400 software that I got from here, then I got the 4500 conf.sysd file from here also, I added it to the original 4400 conf.sysd file then I deleted all the other stereo’s config info so no matter what it would take the 4500 info since it was the only one there. Then I used Linux Mint on an old laptop using the “dd” command to burn the image to a Sandisk 16gb card. Honestly I think the Disk Imager from Windows was the big problem.
  6. I had some similar issues on a 4500, I had burnt an image using Disc Imager on a Windows 8.1 laptop. After about a hour of working fine it started rebooting very frequently. I then burnt another sd using a Linux computer using the dd command and have not had any problems at all. I did also use a 16 gb, San Disk sd card this time.
  7. I wish I could do more to help.
  8. I think it is number 8 in the photo.
  9. I added the 4500 info to the sysd.conf file and removed all the others. Now it has no choice but to pick the w4500 system info. Boots quickly now and so far it seems to work fine with the limited testing that I have done.
  10. Update #2 - Final Update Follow up, the sd card worked but defaulted to a 8400, it worked but it loaded real slow, couldn’t adjust the clock, etc. Few things not quite right. So, it started over. I purchased a couple of SD HC1 (16 GB) cards from amazon (Micro Center brand). Installed win32imager https://win32diskimager.org/. Extracted AVIC.img file from zip and used win32disk imager to write to SD Card. Moved to my Linux Mint machine, used VIM to add the w4500 config info to the sysd.conf file, removed all the other info so it had to pick that info. So fa
  11. Update: I forgot that I had an old Acer laptop that I had Linux Mint 17.3 installed on it. I broke it out, did the updates, installed VIM on it. Fortunately I had an old Kingston usb sd card reader that I had to find. Plugged it into the Acer, put the sd card in it. BAM, all the sections showed up on the desktop. I found the sysd.conf file, opened it with VIM, edited the file and :w, and on the screen it said something to effect of “file written”. I about crapped myself, after at least a dozen attempts using Kali on a virtual machine and getting no where, trying anything could think of or
  12. I appreciate Potterg’s detailed information on how to get this thing taken care of but I cannot seem to get the file sysd.conf to edit and save because it is read only. I’m not an expert in Linux but I can follow directions and no matter what I do, force a save, change the file to not read only, etc. I just cannot edit the file and save it. I can edit it, just not save it. I am just at a loss.
  13. I would like to know if you get this card or not. I ordered it on October 5th and have yet to receive it.
  14. I tried, I thought I had a good case. Never got the item, paid for it but never got it. This is what eBay said. The seller provided tracking information that shows the shipping carrier tried to deliver the item to your address. You can pick it up from the shipping carrier. After reviewing all the details of this case, we determined that you won't receive a refund. I even went to my loca
  15. I think you did a fine job, especially not taking that plastic plate off the unit. I noticed when I did take that front plate off that there was a ridge/markings that help me make the slot in the correct spot. The entire time spend was maybe half an hour, and I did not disconnect the battery cables since I pulled the unit out of the dash. FYI, still haven’t gonna the new sd card from Russia. Seems to have been “lost in the mail”. Seller won’t send me another. Live and learn I guess. $65 lesson.
  16. I have the W4500 that started going wacky in September, first it started in the boot loop, then it started working again, well somewhat working. Anyhow I ended up here looking for an answer, watched a few videos and ended up ordering the car from Russia on October 3rd. I took the front off the unit and cut out the slot with a 3/8 drill and a file for when the sd card shows up I am ready to switch it out. Haven’t seen it yet. Maybe I should have ordered the card from Pioneer but I called them and asked if the software came with the sd card for $100, they told me no. So I called a supplier of th
