  1. On page 112 of the owner's manual: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/AVIC-7000NEX_OperationManual030714.pdf it shows you how to adjust the screen size for use with Android devices Press the Home button (the phyiscal button with four squares on it) twice- it'll hide the vertical menu.
  2. AMP error on other Pioneer models means that the speaker outputs on the radio are touching metal or eachother. I had a customer with a CD player that had the same message- he soldered/taped his wires up and then zip tied them together and there was a errant wire strand that was in contact with a metal dash support. Pull the AppRadio out and make sure the speaker connections are solid.
  3. I assume you've already done the v8.15 and/or the latest v8.17 firmware update? http://pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/AppRadio/AppRadio+2+%28SPH-DA100%29 This firmware update (v8.17) contains the following improvements: Increased accuracy during touch panel use. Improved recognition of devices connected with an MHL adapter. Faster response when utilizing REAR VIEW mode.
  4. The iPhone 3GS is not compatible with the AppRadio. Apple changed thei spec between the 3GS and the iPhone 4 that allowed the iPhone 4 and 4S to output app-based video via the dock connector, which is why the iPhone 4 and 4S work but the 3GS does not.
  5. The JVC headunits don't allow you to fully control the apps. The Cobra and INRIX apps, and all of the Drive Mate apps can only be viewed from the headunit, but have to be controlled from the iPhone. MOG appears to be the only app that Pioneer doesn't have that the JVC headunit has touch control over.
  6. That's awesome! I know I tried the iPhone's voice recognition functions before but I thought they were pretty bad- I may have to give it another shot. Are you bringing the iPhone up to your face when you do the voice commands- or is the phone mounted on the dash?
  7. The shop did the installation wrong. The C2R-CHYR4 has RCA inputs that connect to the AVIC-U310BT- the Bluetooth audio is only present on the Front RCA outputs from the U310BT - and if these front RCA outputs from the AVIC-U310BT aren't connected- you won't hear the Bluetooth audio.
  8. Yes. Press the Gear icon on the bottom of the iPod screen, and then select Link artist and you'll be linked to all songs by that artist. Or you can press link album and play all songs from the same album.
  9. It sounds like you have two subwoofers wired up to the sub amp? It appears that the speaker polarity at the amplifier, at the enclosure, or at the speaker may be backwards- which would mean that your subwoofers are out of phase with eachother. Just switch the (+) and (-) wires on one of the subwoofers at the amplifier/enclosure/speaker and you'll have your bass back.
  10. The pricing isn't too crazy considering there are additional features beyond just the maps (however minor they may be). Just to compare I went to the NAVTEQ website and looked up pricing for Map (only) updates, and they're more like $200: http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/Navteq-NavteqNorthAmerica-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewStandardCatalog-Browse?CatalogCategoryID=83UKCghBDysAAAEpcBgY6q8c&ShowAllProducts=YES&PersistNavigationMenu=YES
  11. Mine gets warm, but not hot to the touch- but I've got it in a Griffin case, so that's probably isolating me from the real temperature. I think anytime you're navigating (the internal GPS antenna is on) and you're streaming music (data connection) while charging the battery the iPhone will get warm. I know my phone gets warm when I'm doing 2-3 things at once while it's charging at my desk- and it doesn't seem to get any hotter when I connect it to the AppRadio. It seems pretty common online for all iPhone users: http://www.google.com/search?btnG=1&pws=0&q=iPhone+gets+hot+while+ch
  12. Demo Mode continues to play when the unit receives power for the first time. When you turn the key off, and then back on it goes away.
  13. The iPod 'app' you're referring to is Apple's iPod out interface. The crappy interface designed on Apple's end (if you don't believe me, Google 'Apple iPod Out')- the AppRadio just adds the small command buttons to the left and the right of the image. Since the video interface is designed by Apple, that's probably why there's no touch-scrolling or pressing of any of the information.
  14. Fail. The X710 doesn't play DVDs, but the X910 does.
  15. Here's answers to some, but not all of your questions: 1. There is no split screen (so you can see your rear camera at the same time as your rout) 4. Yes, but not right out of the box (you've gotta 'hack' the unit) 5. I've had no issues with burned DVDs 6. There is no internal hard-drive, so there is no library to populate. 7.iPod is super fast, SD card is okay- it just depends on how your files are organized on the card. 8. It's in the manual- and you can download that from the Pioneerelectronics.com website. 9. There is no library, so this isn't possible. 10. There is no instrumen
  16. Symbols in any contact (even if it's just one contact) will prevent VR from working on all contacts. Jason H is right.
  17. Are you using the supplied mounting screw hardware? Longer screws may prevent the mechanism from operating properly. Also, have you checked to see if the dash kit might be in contact with the motorized face? I've had to trim some kits to allow the Z's motorized faceplate to move freely. The other thing to check would be the Z's original packaging- it's possible that the unit could have been dropped in shipping, creating some type of mis-alignment of the faceplate gears.
  18. I think the logic is that if you were navigating and on a BT call you wouldn't hear the voice prompts- so they switch the screen to show the map so you could at least see what was coming.
  19. If you get a CD-RB20 / CD-RB10 you won't need to use the ND-G500. The CD-RB20 (or CD-RB10) is a IP-BUS to RCA adapter that allows the addition of an auxiliary RCA input through the IP BUS jack on the rear of the headunit. Just use the 3.5mm output jack on the AVIC-F500BT and get a 3.5mm to RCA male 'Y adapter' along with a CD-RB20 and you should be set. You'll have to select 'AUX' on the headunit in order to hear the audio (it won't automatically switch) but that's a minor inconvenience.
  20. It's a Bluetooth / Setup thing- not necessarily the unit. The microphone placement will have a big effect on the quality- you may want to experiment with different spots. Mine is on the top of my steering column. You may also want to delete the phone from the Bluetooth profiles on the headunit (and delete the headunit from the phone) and re-pair the devices with the handset volume at a different level. I'm not sure how/why this works but it's worked for me before.
  21. You'll need to get an external power source for your USB drive. The USB port only supports 500mA of current draw, and when your 400GB drive is starting to spin it'll pull more than that- which is why the AVIC won't see it. What are you planning on putting on that drive? Unless you're meticulous with your folder / file organization it's going to be a PITA to navigate through the drive. Unfortunately, this is one of those scenarios where an iPod is the best option for portable media storage.
  22. It's not that much of a surprise: http://www.google.com/search?source=ig& ... f&oq=&aqi= Just because one Customer Service Rep didn't know doesn't mean the entire company had no clue... Either way, it's still a cool feature that I'm glad to see.
  23. You need a video signal amplifier. The signal level is dropping with all the extra screens. You'll need something like this:
  24. I'm assuming the Z is similar to the X which is similar to the F- and on the F-Seires the unit boots up in a particular order and checks the USB and SD for files- so maybe that's why it's limited to 16GB?
  25. No Vehicle Dynamics. No internal hard-drive storage.
