  1. Woot for USAA. Inexpensive cost for coverage, covers everything, great to work with. I pay $78 a month for a VW Jetta and BMW 335xi with double the OH minimum and $0 and $50 deductibles. If you are in the military don't miss out on USAA.
  2. I have it working on my 3G iPhone and my D3. I just hit the speaker button when I play the voicemail and it works with out problems.
  3. I tapped into mine in the center counsel right by the gear shifter. less then 12" from the radio
  4. VSS is in also behind the cluster Also can hide the GPS antenna behind the cluster. Illumination at the switch is easiest
  5. VSS is located behind the cluster should be blue w/ white stripe. Make sure you solder and dont cut the VSS wire or you will have problems.
  6. I cut mine off and striped a strip of wire off and soldered the reverse signal lead into the reverse light wire
  7. Download FireFTP for Firefox 3. The set up a connection with the following host: vwinvoices.com user: guest_uploads pass: guest1234 directory: /vwinvoices.com/ Port: 21 Passive FTP = Yes Passive FTP is important because most connections that are not SFTP connections will time out or get booted if not slected
  8. again grounding the RCAs would help if it is still bothering you
  9. Another thing that you will need to do is to go into the menu w/ all of your AV sources and change your outputs from Subs and None to Full and Subs or some wording similar to that
  10. PM replied. To all who are wondering what servers I use, it is the great people at Dreamhost. Right now they have unlimited space and bandwidth for the life of your account. Prices as low as $5.95 a month with completely unlimited use can't beat that anywhere on the web. But when I talked to them this morning they were down to 20 people left to sign up. PM and I can give you some free stuff to.
  11. It depends on how you have it set up. If you have it hooked to key sense wire you will have power at the HU until the key is removed. If you have it hooked up to a 12V switched source you will loose power as soon as the key is in the off position. I have installed about 15 units in VW's and Audis and have never had a problem.
  12. grounding the RCA's will help out a lot. Especially if you have multiple amps running
  13. Servers are up and running. Last night we just went over the 2TB of transfers since Oct 1st. You might need to clear your cache and cookies
  14. I have done this and it got rid of the hum almost completly you can only hear it when the windows are rolled up an the AV sources are off along with the AC. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337644
  15. Your car sends the signal to the stock radio via the CAN-BUS network. You can not tap into it for that feature but if you take off the bottom piece of your steering column you can find a connector that has wires running to the key cylinder and in that bundle their is a wire known as the key sense wire. Which does exactly what it sounds like it senses when the key is in the ignition. When it senses the key is there it completes the circuit giving you 12v power to the radio. I know on my Jetta it was a brown wire with a red stripe. I am not sure what color yours is. The best thing would be to ge
  16. Who leaves their phone in the car when they are not in the car? As people have already said the buzzing is a standard thing when it comes to GSM and iDEN phones. That is why your phone ask you if you want to put it in airplane mode when you hook it up to the dock connector. Just think of it as an early warning that you are getting a call, text, or email. since it will create a lot of interference about 2-3 seconds before your phone responds with an alert
  17. The technology that is currently being sold would have trouble getting a good signal while you were moving. You will probably waiting a year or so
  18. They have a portable one it is slightly larger then a large breifcase and has the tuner and everything built in, including a 17" screen. A buddy of mine has it in his RV and when they go camping. I have only seen it when it was parked in his driveway but it had a clear signal and good picture quality. http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/co ... navtype=-1
  19. Direct TV has a portable satellite that would allow you to view it via RCA's. Works well but can have choppy picture quality at interstate speeds. Downside is that it is freakin expensive
  20. The iPod that you linked to would be a 6th Generation iPod Classic. In that generation you would have both the 80GB and the 160GB iPods. You can get them to play video through the iPod cable on the D3 if you downgrade the iPod to that of the 5th Generation iPod. Currently Apple is on their 7th Generation iPod which only comes in 120GB but comes in the popular slimmer case. You are going to have trouble finding a brand new 5.5 Generation iPod that is new, I would recommend eBay or a company that does iPod repair or iPod trade ins. They would be the best place to look for one. You can play n
  21. I will take 2, now if we could get some Apple stuff in there it would be great
