  1. Why play Solitare or Mahjong when you can play SMB or Goldeneye? Oh, and the search button is your friend. So is the FAQ section. Here's an idea. Combine those 2 ideas and make Avic Live. Bring online gaming to your car
  2. Did you read that he has no experience and 90% of his questions are avic related? how is a scion forum gonna help him more than an avic forum other than how to disassemble the dash?
  3. You can use those, but sometimes they don't cut into the wire enough to make a good connection. There's a few different ways to make connections, just soldering is by far the best way to establish a scure and clean connection.
  4. A fine suggestion. With some LED's and some creativity, you can add nice touches to your interior. Never was a fan of under dash neons, only the under dash blacklights caught my interest.
  5. 6th Ave is even cheaper and they include install. There's one not 5 minutes from my apartment.
  6. Is it cold by where you live? The cold drains the battery life, my fiance's iPod does the same thing. Gotta keep it by the heater vent for a few minutes to warm the battery up.
  7. There's a pattern overlay that resembles carbon fiber. after scaling it to 25%, adding a little satin, and bevel/emboss, you have carbon fiber.
  8. That is the best thing i've ever read. Words cannot express that ownage.
  9. oh that's just crazy talk, let's not go there! Yeah, can't have anything that radical! You should have thought before posting that
  10. I've heard of something like that with the 05ish Nissans as well
  11. Probably because you're not on the reverse wire IIRC after you select program 3 it will flash back 3 times. then you turn the car off and on, it'll flash 3 times and you press the program button. after that I think you have 7 seconds to start programming the buttons in the order given, by holding the button till the light on the SWI-PS goes out, then release, next button. It's all in the instructions I'm just going off of memory.
  12. Wrong wire. It's a Violet/Orange wire, not solid orange.
  13. He wants them gone completely, even when navigating. 2.0 still has them en route.
  14. Did you test that wire to make sure it's the right orange? And you used the purple/white wire and the RCA input?
  15. Lol nice. I do change it myself, paying to get it done at Jiffy Lube every 1500 miles is too much
  16. HA!!! that's something to put on the screen when taking it to get an oil change. I remember seeing one that was down the lines of an error message as well. That;d be gret for when taking it to the dealer for service Apologies if this has already been posted.
  17. Search the hacks and mods, there is a way to remove them permanently.
  18. I wouldn't use a flathead screwdriver. If you go to use it and the screwdriver slips, you can have a nice scratch on your dash. And tape wont be too effective since the corners can tear through the tape thus rendering the tape useless. In the shop we use what we call "blue tools", they're like little plastic crowbars of different shapes that won't scratch the panels. Obviously with this being your first job you probably don't have those tools, and I don't know off the top of my head what can be a subsitute, maybe another member will have a suggestion. As far as the parking brake wire, you
  19. Yes it is an effective alternative, but moving the wire is a much more secure method because of how the wire locks into place, as opposed to a wire bent around the hole. With enough tension on that wire it could easily pull out, as opposed to the mute wire method which would require a lot more force to pull out
  20. Are you sure it's lagging and not just not registering a double click? Try selecting the directory and select file open, see if it still takes that long
  21. MegamanX, bottom line is you're not building a rocket or performing surgery as compared to in a previous post. You're installing a radio and you're going to buy all the pieces needed to make it as easy as possible. You have pictured instructions on taking apart the dash, color coded wires to hook it up, and the right dash kit to mount it in. And if that isn't enough, the unit also has a detailed installation manual to help you. The steering wheel module is not too difficult if you read the instructions and follow them as exactly specified for your Scion xB Grounding the parking brake wire
  22. Not all of today's vehicles require years of experience for the simplist of installs. He's not asking to put an autostarter in a Volvo, he's asking to put a radio in a Scion. With color coded wiring harnesses and all the information he needs, It's possible for someone with no experience to do this install. Every installer started out not knowing a thing..
  23. Yeah, but when he's putting all the funds to a 2nd avic for testing, to help all of us out, it's probably the best way
