  1. Astrobill, why are you still here? You sold your D3, it's obvious you don't want anything to do with pioneer navigation units ... what your point? What is the purpose of your posting here? You're in a pioneer navigation forum and you're knocking pioneer navigation units ... you're not going to convert everyone here, and even if you did, to what end? Do you have stock in Alpine or Kenwood? Take your comments somewhere else, they aren't adding to the body of knowledge here.
  2. no voice prompt while on any screen except map or audio/video. This means if you're looking at MSN traffic reports or movie times, you can't use voice recognition at all until you switch screens.
  3. As far as I can tell, no. Nothing seems to get the f-series to preset up/down besides actually pressing preset up/down on the head unit. The steering wheel interface is sending the signal, if you programmed it in the proper order, it's just being ignored.
  4. Correction, it seems ... MSN Direct only comes in via the head unit's FM antenna receptacle, not through the HD Radio module, so you do need a splitter if you intend to get traffic updates, movie times, gas prices, etc.
  5. I get a couple of bars of reception about 5% of the time ... the rest of the time the signal seems dead. Nevertheless, if I drive around enough it will eventually start pulling in traffic reports, movie times, and gas stations. Weather seems to be the last thing it updates and I've only seen it actually finish it once. I'm getting good reception on the regular FM band tuner on all my typical stations, so I don't know WTF is going on here. Anyone know how I can find out where the MSN transmitter is in Dallas? I'd love to part outside of it and see if my signal goes up at all.
  6. I don't have an illumination output on my car, so my line is capped. The unit does seem to go by date/time when this is the case ... seems like after 9pm or so it switches to night view. Mine isn't a problem unless it's late afternoon where the sun comes in low across my windows. As far as TTS voice, you have to go back and change your navigation voice to Samantha ... Jason is a more normal sounding voice, but can't do text to speech. Samantha is computerized, but can read street names. However, she's european in origin so she reads 1.2 miles as one-comma-two miles. This seems t
  7. Re-sync your ipod, turn off VR catalog on the head unit. It's not a permanent or ideal fix, but it will get you up and running again.
  8. I use a Mac to sync. Contacted a Pioneer customer support guy. He actually seemed happy to have my laundry list of issues. He did say they were actively working on a firmware update right now for the F-series, and indicated it might be released in the next month or two.... don't know how accurate that is though.
  9. I've emailed Al and Eds. Do you have a number for Pioneer? I'll call them too. g
  10. What is the best way to have these addressed? So to summarize some of the stuff we're seeing: 1. There is no voice-dial-by-name, contrary to the video advertisements. 2. Selecting a name in the contacts list dials the first number for that contact it finds. This is contrary to the videos where when a contact is selected, the unit finds all the numbers for that contact and asks you to pick. This doesn't seem to happen. Which brings me to my next point... 3. Updates for my contacts from the iPhone it doesn't *really* erase the old and write the new. I had an old/bad home number fo
  11. More phone issues: 1. (as per previously) no voice dial by name. 2. Selecting a name in the contacts list dials the first number for that contact it finds. This is contrary to the videos where when a contact is selected, the unit finds all the numbers for that contact and asks you to pick. This doesn't seem to happen. Which brings me to my final point... 3. Updates for my contacts from the iPhone it doesn't *really* erase the old and write the new. I had an old/bad home number for a contact, and whenever I would dial him it wouldn't ask whether I wanted to call him at home or o
  12. concur on calling contacts via voice does not work ... at least with an eye phone.
  13. This business about aztechwhatzitthingy vs. pioneer doesn't belong here, take it someplace for off-topic threads. This is for those having issues with the new F-series, not philosophical debates about windows or some other crap. Hifisi votes to end the conversation and I couldn't agree more. Now back to something about important, like my needs. It was suggested that I get a splitter for my antenna to send to HD radio as well as the head unit for MSN Direct. Turns out my '02 Audi A6 has two amplified antennas for differential tuning on the factory head unit. Whatever the hell that means
  14. My '02 Audi doesn't even seem to feed me an illumination/dimmer wire anymore ... it did in my '01 A4, but they moved to CAN-BUS for this one, and no one's making adapters to get VSS or illumination off the CAN-BUS. Stupid computers.
  15. Model: F90BT Devices Connected: HD Radio, Sirius, PAC-Audio SWI/CAN AV Source (if playing) during issue: iPod Action that caused the issue (pressed button, search, etc): Plugging in the iPod Was GPS routing? (yes/no) no Was BlueTooth active? If yes, what device? yes, iPhone Anything else you would like to add: My iPod worked fine with the F90BT yesterday, fully loaded up the catalog for VR, etc. Now whenever my iPod is plugged in the F90BT goes in to endless reboot ... I never get to the home screen unless the iPod is out. [edit] I seemed to have remedied this issue (at l
  16. Canada shipping probably runs into big pioneer distribution trouble ... he may not be able respond and keep his license. additionally, customs taxes would likely kill you.
  17. From what I understand, if you have VR cataloging on, it only has to do that business once (unless your music library changes a lot) ... so let it finish and then you'll be fine ... Granted I don't know this personally, it's just what I've read here.
  18. I was debating between the W505 and the F90BT ... both have comparable features to the W205. I wanted above all iPod (+album art), bluetooth (iPhone), navigation, sirius, DVD playback, and HD Radio. The real kicker for me came down to economics. Alpine seems to nickle-and-dime you to death over nav. You don't get navigation without the Blackbird (an extra $600-700) and you don't get bluetooth without an adapter either. So for the W505 to do the same thing as the F90BT I was looking at a component cost of $1700, versus the $1100 or so for the pioneer.
  19. Hopefully mine is shipping tomorrow, since my order is waiting on 2 sirius->pioneer thingys.
  20. Website is slow as molasses, I'm guessing everyone else is doing what I'm doing. Unfortunately so far it's taken me 30 minutes to find only some of the accessories (car specific stuff) that I need. So I'm placing my order for the majority of it then I'll mop up the scraps at crutchfield. Thanks again for the hard work in ironing out this great deal for us!!
  21. Personally, I'm looking for something around $950 each, for my two.
  22. If you read the first post, that's how it was suggested it be done from the start. Call the guy up, tell him you are part of the AVIC411 group buy, pay him and give him your address. Any other way just wouldn't work. Exactly, I just wanted to clarify for the fellow checking in Houston.
