  1. I have voice dialing per se, so long as I say "call 214-555-1212" ... voice dial by name does not seem to work on any iPhone ... Pioneer tech claims this is due to an insufficient bluetooth profile on the iPhone ... that it's not their fault. I remain unconvinced, but what do I know?
  2. I got it from Al and Ed's (an authorized Premier dealer), so I do have an email receipt to provide for warranty purposes.
  3. So buying two F90BT's really put me in a jam with bills and such. I purchased the second unit for my wife's car and I have yet to install it. I have opened the box and started soldering up the wires to a wiring harness adapter for her GMC Yukon. I've also completed the little hack to unlock the controls and video while driving. I really wanted to install this in the next two weeks but I'm broke ass broke and need the dough. So unless my wife cancels this with some second thoughts tomorrow, my spare/uninstalled F90BT is available. Dammit to Hell. Note: I have yet to install the new
  4. Pandora works via Edge (albeit occasionally choppy) on the F90BT and the first gen iPhones with 2.0 installed. (Video works fine, and always has for me) If I had a second gen iPhone with 3G, I would seriously consider using Pandora full-time and dropping Sirius. g
  5. I've always had working video via the pioneer cable on my F90BT (pre- and post-firmware update) and my first generation iPhone (running 2.0). The only video that gives me hassles is anything via the SD card (choppy, freezy).
  6. I'm cranky that I have to go buy an SD card and an SD-USB adapter. I was really hoping for a CD-RW or USB stick solution. oh well.
  7. So far we don't have a means of modifying files on the F-series ... maybe when the firmware update comes out someone can break it down and expose the hex-editable parts.
  8. I initially paired my iPhone (1.1.4 or whatever) just fine with the F90BT ... there's no such thing as voice dialing by name for iPhones and these units it seems, but I do get my phonebook transferred and proper bluetooth business going on. Then I updated my iPhone to 2.0 and it still works. Granted I didn't go back and re-pair it, but everything still seems to be working just great (aside from the aforementioned voice-dial-by-name BS).
  9. So you're saying you actually have voice dialing on your F-series? Do you know something I don't? I know it was advertised that voice-dialing would be an available feature, but I have yet to see any evidence of it in actuality. I'm wondering if voice dial only works with some phones, and not others. For instance, with my iPhone it doesn't recognize any spoken names.
  10. My problem is that I didn't figure all of this out until I spent two weeks screwing around with my car and spending money on adapters that didn't do the job. I bought Pacific Audio's CAN/Steering wheel adapter, and no less than five (count'em) antenna adapters. The PAC adapter works, but you don't get illumination or vss, so now I've got to find a way to tie that in to the instrument cluster. Had I gone with the CAN-MULTI I mentioned, I would have been done by now. I could turn around and sell the PAC adapter so that I could go and buy the soundgate canmulti, but that would involve r
  11. I debated a choice between the W505 and the F90BT. For me it came down to interface and (primarily) economics. I much preferred the feel and ease of use for the pioneer, but the kicker came down to price. For the W505 I was looking at: Headunit --- $999 Blackbird -- $499 (necessary for Navigation) Bluetooth -- $199 HD Radio -- $199 iPod Cable -- $30 Sirius+Traffic -- $299 For a total of $2,225 The Pioneer F90BT was (not counting my al-eds discount): Headunit -- $1199 HD Radio -- $129 Sirius -- $129 (pioneer interface + SCC1) For a grand total of $1,457 ... NOT COUNTI
  12. This is not there on my F90BT. ... The only rerouting detours I get are automatic via the traffic from MSN Direct.
  13. I have an '02 A6, but the setup is almost the same... Get the CAN Multi from soundgate http://www.soundgate.com/index.php?request=product.details&categoryid=262&productid=590&usereferrer=1&, that way you get illumination, switched power, and VSS. You have to get an amplified HF adapter ... you connect the blue power lead to the blue antenna power from the head unit. This powers the antenna booster in your back window. Without this, you get no powered antenna, and thus static. This adapter is hard to find at local stereo shops, I typically have to find it on
  14. Can anyone confirm that MSN Direct transmissions are piggybacked onto ClearChannel radio stations? g
  15. sucky. I'd also like the channel logos like XM, but oh well. At least I have a good blues station.
  16. At this point I'm irritated, given that I own two F90BTs, plus all the extra modules like HD Radio, Sirius, etc. I'm reserving any fury until I see the results of this forthcoming update. I hope it fixes some issues that annoy me most. If they jack us around on this, even though they have an easy opportunity to do the right thing given the possibility of online downloads for firmware updates, then I'll be pissed and looking to ebay to recoup some cost.
  17. poppyq, you need to post your issue in the full format, unless this most recent post is a followup. what model, what accessories, etc.
  18. it seems silly that so many features and tricks went into the D3 that never made it into the F-Series. Personally, as spotty as MSN Direct is, I'd love to have an option to pull traffic data from XM (or Sirius whenever they feel like implementing it).
  19. The reality is that you can be sued for anything ... brush by someone on the street and that's battery. They can literally sue you for anything in civil court ... maybe you don't have the warning sign in Sanskrit or something. There's nothing you can really do to prevent yourself from being sued in civil court. You really want to avoid criminal charges though. Even if you put signs up, traps are still a no-no in every state I know of. Now if you can get your pit bull to sleep in your car at night, and put signs on your windows ... then you won't have problems
  20. Many navigation units allow you to touch the compass on screen to change the orientation ... touch once and it's oriented in the direction of the car ... touch again and it's pointing north with the arrow for the car pointing wherever. The Lexus RX units do this and it's handy. Typically, however, I just set it to point north as it's distracting to see the whole screen moving out of the corner of my eye while I'm driving.
  21. Anyone know how to get the VSS from an '02 Audi A6? I've got the service manual and I can see a wiring diagram, but it doesn't actually tell me WHERE to find it ... sucky.
  22. Laying traps are highly illegal ... you get big time jail for that. In Texas, you can defensibly shoot someone who is breaking into your car, but if you lay a trap (in your car or in your house) and they get hurt then you get serious criminal charges against.
  23. how do you get it to stay put up there?
  24. Anyone else in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area having issues with MSN signals? I get the best reception around Forrest and Dallas North Tollway. I get a poor signal anywhere south of that, particularly around Oak Cliff. Anyone know where the MSN FM transmitter is located? According to the maps at MSN Direct, we should have about 100 square miles of excellent coverage ... no such luck here.
