Seems like a good deal, at least from a media stand point. You can play mp3s from either a CD or DVD, unlike the Z1 which can only do CDs. Also it has Divx capability on cd or DVD, unlike the Z1 which can do neither. The upcoming Z2 cant do any of this either, if that makes you feel better.

we should have the ability to defrag the hd so we can speed up load times.

I have recently gotten this car, and I am trying to put my Z1 into it. The thing is that its not double din. I have read on some corvette forums about people who have made their own double din bezel. Does anyone have instructions on how to do this? have done this? or is willing to sell me one they have made? Thanks

yeah i think that is stupid too. The avic z1 doesnt seem to store any address number and it just pages you when you are near that address. If you didnt actually know what you were looking for, you would definitely be in trouble.

yes it is wireless, but it can be a bit annoying having that tied onto your steering wheel via straps. I also have a problem using it in sunlight, since it uses IR to transmit to the navigation. I have had much better luck using the PAC SWI-X to control the navigation using my factory controls. It still uses IR, but you can position the IR transmitter much closer to the unit, so its not that big of an issue.

I also would pay for a good Mitsubishi 3000gt one.

I just wanted to see if any body found some good after-market Divx player add on for their navigation. It would really work out more conveniently as converting them to mpeg then burning the dvd is way too long. It would be nice if the divx unit isnt really expensive either. Thanks in advance.

Isn't the Z series the flagship model of pioneer GPS systems? Why is it that the D3 is expected to be able to play Divx and not the Z2? The D3 also has a random function, which the Z series still doesn't have.

yes it will. If you correctly connected both wires, you will not get that message about the parking brake being connected incorrectly. If you were to only ground the parking brake wire and not the other wire, you will get that error.

Every car manufacturer keeps power going to the radio. It's the yellow wire that gives a constant 12v to the radio for memory purposes, like keeping the time correct. He must have wired that into the ignition wire if it won't go off. Try and see if that helped. The ignition wire should be the red wire, which gives 12volts when the car is on and 0v when the car is off.

It is a great time saver. It integrates perfectly with the z1 and gives you the best path to get wherever you want to go. I am a 9-5 guy so I am always hitting traffic, but the xm nav has cut my commute by at least 20mins by routing me through some residential areas

Do you have a multimeter on hand? If so you can see if the voltage levels are changing on your illumination port. If you turn on your headlights, the voltage levels should increase enough to dim your unit.

Ok i downloaded the software you told me, but now I keep getting an error saying that there is no audio in my source. What is going on? I converted it to mpeg and then from there use the dvd burning software to convert it.

I dont know what I am doing wrong, but I am using this program called "cucusoft avi to dvd creator pro" to make playable dvds out of my avi files. The discs seem to play fine in my home dvd player but it wont play in the Z1. Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on? I dont have many legit dvds and it would really be great to watch something else. Maybe someone can recommend another program too.
