  1. Does anyone have information on how to removal dash parts, specifically the front panel around the unit? I found some threads on bypassing after a full custom install, but the dash on the Mountaineer seems pretty hard to remove. I'd apperciate any insight. Thank you,
  2. I think the Satellite Icon is super cool/functional and I've read up/down this thread. I can't seem locate the code for adding the sat. button. Can someone help me out with the code and the icons? BTW Thanks,
  3. I can see it now... The next manual that comes out will have in big bold letters "SEE AVIC411 for instruction from how to turn on the unit to teaching your grandma to use the device" lol I'm glad someone took the time out to create this forum. It's a privilege to be apart of it!
  4. Well as everyone is discussing the Update worked! That doesn't get Pioneer off the hook yet. Detail that I notice go away: - When stopped at an intersection the my arrow no longer slightly starts turning for no reason. Detail That I can't get working: - I can't seem to get GOOG411's (800) number in my contacts. Every time I try to use the HU Google411 icon it's still calling a non-free number. I've tried almost everything to get this to work. my contacts will not retain the (800) number. Has anyone goten the (800) google number working through contacts, or how is the best wa
  5. Oh, my bad... thanks for the correction. reading music from the SD card on the 700, is the interface the same with the folder up icon that lets you search through all the music and while listening to one song, still playing from the SD card?
  6. Bummer man, I'm pretty sure that someone else with a 700 will post, but all the annoyances that you listed were addressed to an extent with the newer models like the 900 or 90bt. Search amazon.com add they will range from 700 to 800 buckaroos. So, moral of the story "buy an older product and get older technology..." Hope you can sort everything out.
  7. http://drop.io/102308ida I've scanned it once and seems clean. Scan with your regular scanners to make sure. I set the link above to delete itself after 24 hrs., so it will only be good till this time today. It's the windows based, let me know if you need linux or mac. Let me know how she works for ya.
  8. You are talking about the start up splash screen right? Look for the option "from SD or from USB" and then select the image from the source, ba-da-boom! Make sure the parking brake is ON and start look into every option that you have in your settings from left to right. Know the system functions and mess with everything you can. (image size is 800x400.) I'd tell you for sure but I don't even know the unit that well...
  9. Has anyone checked out the G1 Google Phone yet?
  10. If you use google earth you can check out all the 3D landmarks. But, not every city will have them. It's actually really easy to publish to google earth. Maybe there is a way to get them into the unit?? Du-No? If I had a penny for every time a Pioneer Rep told me "it was supposed to" ...
  11. Downloading it now, still need it?? Done!, I haven't tried it yet, but it's IDA Pro v5.2...
  12. Have you messed with the speed volume settings?
  13. That happened on my fiances' LG Rumor. Couldn't fix it, but some people have had good luck with that same phone.?? I was up on my 2 yr aggreement so I traded up to the new (sprint, i know) Razor, it ended up working really good! - What kinda phone? - Have you ever connected to a car kit before, with that phone? - Search this site for a compatable phone list.... see what you come up with.
  14. Guess I should stop stopping @ redlights...
  15. Same here! Also, I don't know if this happen with all Nav systems (or just mine) but, sometimes when I stop at a redlight the arrow on 3D mode will think that I'm going in a different direction. When I stop sometimes, (not always) it will kick to the right and as soon as I drive straight through the light, it then straightens up. Duh-No?
  16. Bravo Guys! These are all pretty cool. Just a tip to all who have researched for pics/grafix to ad to these menus and need to switch gears for a bit. Try to search your C:Drive for (*.png)'s. There will be a lot of pics to look through but, if you have software installed like Ulead Movie Maker, Sony Vegas, Corel 4, Photo-shop, even google earth, etc... You be amazed at what you can find. They are all pretty good quality also. Mostly icons and such, but you can run into some pretty good splash screen images, button pics, amd images for tutorials.
  17. I may be wrong but, that sounds like residual power or the HU is caught in reading and loading files that's all. At that point it's protecting itself from the power being shut off at the wrong time. Anyone try to in-line a APC adapter?
  18. Let us know if you notice any glitches after the process. You may want to start a new thread "manually updating you firmware". Or something to that affect. I do know that I used mine stock for a couple of weeks, just so that I can get a baseline of how it acts. So that later on after you start modding you'll be able to know if it's acting funny or not. Something you may consider... Peace Out!
  19. OK Mercury, so you booted into test mode with test.zip, went to the appropriate directory and backed up your data.zip file onto the SD card, modified it, and replaced the original data.zip on the unit with your modifed one? That's exactly what I did. I couldn't think of anything else. When I couldn't update my firmware, I thought it was a bad SD card at first. But, I tried a 1gb PNY and 2gb SD, my unit never booted-up in "Update Mode". But the unit read each card, with no problems. I use WinRar, always have. I actually never decompressed, sorry never extracted the file. Just
