  1. does anyone know if igo8.3 tells you what side of the street your destination is on? I'd pay $70 just for that.
  2. are your mp3's on a micro SD card in the phone? If so, you could just use a micro SD-to-SD adapter. That's what I do if there's something on my BB that I want to play on the avic.
  3. Pioneer is a Japanese company, isn't it?
  4. yeah bypassing is pretty much a given. If you get XM, you'll want to update your channel logos. A few tweaks can make the nav screen more usable. I like the linear compass, bigger clock, cancel route button, and, most of all, the nav MUTE. It's great to be able to shut Samantha up. I'm using mikegedge's data.zip. It's posted here somewhere.
  5. since the thread has already been revived, I guess I'll throw in my thoughts: I really like my F700; it's way more of a system than I thought I could get for the money. I was actually just looking for a higher-end portable GPS when I realized the F700 could be had for about the same price. It's not perfect, but for the price (I got mine with live cashback), I didn't expect it to be. XM and iPod control, which are the two features I probably use the most, work great, even though there are minor things I would change about both. I didn't consider bluetooth to be a big deal when I bought
  6. the NYT article talks of a Ch. 11 reorganization rather than a Ch 7 liquidation, so I don't think the service is going to go away. That's absolutely unreal that Howard Stern costs them $100m year, though.
  7. I have the Boyo VTL420. Couldn't be happier with it.
  8. personally, I chose the F700 for a few reasons: 1. obviously, price 2. I didn't want my wife thinking she had the option of watching some chick flick (and thereby costing me my XM) while I'm driving on a long trip 3. I can play movies from the ipod, if need be 4. I didn't plan on subscribing to MSN direct 5. The matte finish matches my interior better than the glossy F900 (minor point, though) On the other hand, when I'm showing someone all the features of the unit, they inevitably ask, "Does it play DVD's?" I kinda feel a little inadequate when I have to say "No."
  9. I had no experience installing anything like this either (although I did know how to solder), and I had no problem with it in my Titan. I just did a lot of research beforehand and went kind of slow. The wiring harness that you'll buy will be color coded the same as the harness that comes with the F90, so you'll just match up like-color wires. Couldn't be easier. There's videos on youtube that show you how to solder. And yes, if you do the software bypass, you still have to ground the parking brake wire. These forums are obviously a big help, but you should probably check out some veh
  10. This is what I used in my Titan: http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/1 ... oductID/22 Looks OK to me:

I have this problem sometimes, and I'm thinking it's just that the TeleAtlas maps aren't the greatest. I have great sat reception, and my location is usually spot-on when I'm at an intersection or at some other major point of reference. However, it's usually way off when I get back into neighborhoods. Like the OP, even on main roads that have been developed for a long time, the destination is occasionally off by several hundred feet (although its certainly more accurate than when I'm in a residential area). This, coupled with the fact that the unit doesn't tell you if the destination is on
  12. yes, you do get XM online with the $77/year plan. Your XM account and your XM online log-in are different. Just register for XM online and you'll be set.
  13. bad part about not hooking up the reverse wire is that you have to wait for the unit to boot and the menu to become accessible before you can hit the rearview button. Titan or Frontier? The reverse wire is real easy to find on a Titan. If you have an SE or LE, there's one behind the passenger kick panel. For XE, you can go to the trailer harness or tail lights. I imagine it's similar for a Frontier.
  14. I got a Boyo VTL420 for about $80, and it gives a great picture, even in dark. That said, I might have been just as happy with a cheaper camera. It's not like I need to see behind my truck in hi-def; as long as it has a picture of some sort and works in the dark, it'll do.
  15. Activated my wife's OEM tuner in her Vue today for $77/year (haven't gotten my Pioneer tuner installed yet). It took 5 tries to get the deal. I kept BS-ing the reps with the "my friend told me about this code" spiel and got shot down every time. Finally, I just said, "Look, I've seen that a lot of people online have gotten a 1 year subscription for $77, if you can give that deal to me, I'll sign up." The rep just said, "since you saw it online, I can give you that price." No code needed. Looks like my 1st grade teacher was right; honesty is the best policy!
  16. After I bought mine, the cashback hadn't shown up in a couple of days, so I went back and looked at the transaction info on the "My EBay" page. Turns out there was a button that said "Item eligible for Live Cashback, click to claim your Cashback" or something to that effect. After I clicked on that, it showed up as pending in my Live Cashback account in short order. Perhaps thats the problem?
  17. I bought a Panasonic plasma TV from 6th Ave a few years ago. They did call me to sell me some cables, a warranty and some other crap, but they didn't push it when I declined. Everything worked out great, and I got the TV for $400 less than what the big box stores were charging for it at the time. I'd buy from them again.
  18. about the ebay coupon + live stacking issue.... ebay has its own policy about this, and note that when in conflict with Live's terms, ebay terms control: http://pages.ebay.com/CASHBACKOFFER/TERMS.HTML x. eBay may permit you to combine Cashback Rewards with other eBay promotions, coupons, or gift certificates (each, an "eBay Promotion") and may permit you to receive Cashback Rewards on purchases of gift cards or gift certificates. If eBay elects to do so, you will be provided with an opportunity to combine Cash Back Rewards with the eBay Promotion during the checkout flow on www.
