  1. +1 on Newsgroup... no dependancy on someone's server and FAST connections.. 7-8 gig download in 15-30 minutes!
  2. Reset all 3D calibration settings and this should get fixed. Had did that the next day... it was buggy at first... my position remained still for around 10 minutes... then it updated and was sluggish for a couple minutes and now seems fine! so thanks for the info... kinda nice knowing i defaulted to the right answer hope it stays ok... thanks again
  3. Ok.. I've had my system updated for about a day or two and noticed today that the system is kinda jumping...... I have a Z1 updated with each new update (2009 being the latest) and it used to show position and map moved smoothly... now it's like it updates every second and a half so it's like my position is jumping in like 50 foot increments or so... really annoying.. then somehow it got off and never corrected itself (position)... i look up in the menu's and it had 5-6 satellites so i dont' know... it did complain about a G sensor and needed a reboot... so i did... and it still never correct
  4. Download almost complete... will be right around the 2 day mark... can't wait... only uploaded 4GB so far... due to bandwidth usage I will be taking my bit down after 10GB uploaded... Thanks for the upload guys!
  5. I have also noticed my xm nav traffic icon vanish from time to time after the Z1 to Z2 upgrade. I Don't know why. Never happened on the Z1 software. Alright, from what i've read in other posts. Doing a reset (using a paper clip or whatever) using the reset hole next to eject will fix it. Or atleast it did for others. Good Luck and report back if it did or did not help you!
  6. I'll give it a go after looking at the documentation. I've done programming in C++, C#, Basic, Qbasic, Turbo Pascal, VB, .NETs, and some others .. done programming for military and others i can't post. I say this because even with this background,... i'm rather crappy. but always up for a challenge!
  7. hmmm wierd. You care connecting it to the end part of the cable right? not the one closest to the middle? that would make a difference. Also, after connecting it to the CD-ROM IDE channel. setup your bios to ensure it sees the drive!! that might be what's happening. If not that.. then take it to a friends house!
  8. Use your IDE cable that your CD-Roms are connected to. YOu don't need then for this purpose. SO connect your drive via tha IDE cable. When finnished your can simply plug your Drives back in. Good Luck.
  9. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en is that of any help?
  10. Not to sound negative, but if you don't know where to ground a wire in a vehicle, then perhaps it safer that you pay to have it done. grounding is basic and if you ground the wrong wires you could blow fuses or worst case senario start a fire (highly unlikely, but possible). Always easier to pay 40-50 to have it done right... then pay 1400 to replace a fried z1/z2. IMO anyhow.
  11. Well keep in mind that it is against to law to buy a drive that is "Preloaded" with music. So one Ebay will most likely stop this guy from selling it and two, authorities may be doing it to crack down on piracy. Good luck, i'd rather do it myself!
  12. i didn't mean search for the words "know how" i meant do a search for reseting your system. i've seen it in the forum before because i had the same issue. once your reset your system it goes away. It may be just taking a paperclip and pushing the reset button on the left hand side.. i think that might do it.. but if not just do a search. **EDIT** This is if you have updated your Z1 and have correctly did the 2 wire bypass. If your Z1 is not updated or you are not doing the 2 wire bypass then when you reset your z1, the error will come right back.
  13. just do a search and you'll see... People who are upgrading to drives with a faster RPM's and some with larger storage are experiencing a LOT of reboots from every 3 minutes to hours! Just do some research before upgrading your HDD.
  14. reset your system. Search in forums for the "know how" it will reset that error so you don't have to see it everytime your system starts.
  15. but be warned... 99% of people who are upgrading the HDD are expierencing a REBOOTING issue. so look into that before making a decision!!
  16. well there is always the option of shipping your drive. After all as long as you already have the two wire bypass completed, there is no need for the unit itself.
  17. Wow... if you want to drive to FL, i'd do it for free.. (well maybe a drink or two)
  18. Not to get off topic, but i looked at the upgrade CD and everything is in .DAT files which i can't extract to debug. I was hoping to break it down and find the algorythm but no luck. If anyone can get the info out of the .DATs i'd be happy to take a look and see what i can pull out as far as the algo goes.
  19. OK, we know the original works fine. I never heard of a rebooting issue when the z1 image. So what happens when you use the same drives that were rebooting with a z1 image. If it's a hardware issue, shouldn't they reboot on a z1 image? and if it is only on a z2 image, then what is demanding the greater power. just a couple of questions for thought to maybe help out.

    Swapping HDDs

I think the unlocking part uses the device id to make the password. So if you change the HDD then it wouldn't be able to unlock the z2 drive since the z2 drive was locked with the z2's device ID. So IMO you would have to unlock it first.
  21. Awesome Job!! Thanks for all the time you put into this! and BigFloppy for the server. its now on torrent and soon to be on usenet (hopefully) so your server shouldn't be as bogged down!
  22. It wouldn't be... I would if i knew how!
