  1. I do this in my Aramda... I've got an F700 w/ the iPod setup to output to an RCA Switch box. Also plugged into the switchbox is a Playstation, Headrest DVD Output, DTV Receiver.. On the output I have it split to feed back to the Headunit and to the DVD Headrests for the backseat. This allows me to cheat Pioneer by not having to buy a DVD Headunit plus allows me to have the maximum flexibilty... One thing I have done as well was the Bypass so that my passenger can watch movies or play games while on trips.
  2. I am at a complete loss as to the problems everyone seems to be experiencing. I had a modded unit that worked well minus the slowness of the button presses and older maps and general slowness, but seriously the unit simply functioned. I updated to the new firmware via. Retells guide and it worked great, then I downloaded the X-Series 3.01 and installed that following Pioneers guide. It took a little longer than I expected for that update but it took w/o any problems. Now my button presses are quick, Navigation is solid, Bluetooth transfer from my phone is INFINITELY faster and more clear a
  3. I want to say I picked my 700 up in late December for $532.. but that included the steering wheel controls, iPod Cable, Install Kit and Wiring harness for my Armada... all in all it was CHEAP..
  4. The iPod incorporates a SOC (System on Chip) meaning all of the components of the "Operating System" are contained on a single chip.. this makes it easier and cheaper to produce for Apple... Technically doing what is listed above SHOULD work... however I am willing to bet that Apple places something on the Firmware of the storage media in the iPod to make it recognized from the SOC-IC. If not then the only technical bit left is getting the 12V+ regulated and to the Desktop Hard Drive as a USB port can not push or sustain that much power, it simply is not in the USB Specs... You can alwa
  5. The iPod interface on any external screen isn't allowed by Apple. They don't even allow it on their own devices that they make. The simple reason is this.. they don't want you to... Apple want's the iPhone and iTouch interface to remain on the devices screen in perfect proportion w/o any outside interference. The amount of money Pioneer and other makers pay to simply have an interface that works with the iPod is enough. Giving away portions of the UI so that an Automaker or even a peripheral maker can duplicate the "look-and-feel" is too dangerous. As for tethering... which is what you
  6. Use Amazon... I just bought mine from 6ave via Amazon for $432... 5min ago I looked at Amazon again and another vendor is selling it for $419... Just for comparison.. I ordered the F700BT, Steering Wheel Control and iPod Cable for $538 total shipped to me...
  7. I ordered F700 from 6ave via Amazon... good reputable folks...
