  1. Well, that didn't work, I'm crap at this but I'll get there LOL Anyone help me out, how do I attach a file for you to download???????
  2. You're gonna need an SDHC card and the FAQ section .......and also the 'search' button............... Hi Catch
  3. There's no fan or hard drive, the 500 is solid state with NAND flash memory, which is where I think the WindowsCE lives. My unit doesn't make any noise, so maybe you need to return it........
  4. Thanks for info, I spent several hours last night reading the installation manual and I'm very impressed. Any chance you could describe exactly how you connected things, and also how your unit works now, ie: what happens after turning ign off for a while then starting car again. Cheers, Mark
  5. basstoy and bwolfe, glad you like my tweaks, as I said I started with Mavs' DATA.zip hacks/mods and just played around with things to suit my preferences. I will post my codes for navigatemap_800_480 and speedcam_800_480 together with the .bmp for my altered speedcam box. I'm pretty new to all this, it took me ages to figure out how to attach the previous pic, so please be patient, I'll have it here as soon as I can. Mark

  8. I've got a LG KF750 and have no prob with transferring contacts to my Avic 500. After pairing your phone, when your Avic asks you to send contacts by business card just press ok on the Avic: then it should import your contacts without you even touching your phone - that's what happens with mine, and within a couple of minutes it's done. Hope this helps
  9. Hey Vorian, fuck em mate, your kit is your kit: to do with as you please. And I agree that what we do here isn't going to make these units completely die, it aint unheard of for modern electronics to give up the ghost without any tinkering. So I reckon you should keep on doing your mods etc., just like the rest of us

  11. Just goes to prove exactly how bad it is for us in Europe, getting ripped off yet again...........
  12. Hey, is it my DATA.zip your after? If so, you're welcome, but I aint got a clue how you can access it, I'm struggling to even post a pic on here LOL
  13. Sort of............ the v2.0 and bluetooth updates are seperate downloads, although what I did was install v2.0 first and then separately install the bluetooth. Had no probs at all.

  15. I did it, Boris - made a larger bitmap using the original as a basis in Windows Paint, and then transferred all its contents into the warning box. Doing the bitmap was pretty easy once I got the hang of Paint, the PITA was moving all the contents and getting 'x', 'y' and 'w' values just right. But I reckon the result is well worth it I will post a pic when I get home.
  16. Nah, it was a waste of time: only difference was that the map screen lagged quite considerably. Back to the drawing board........
  17. I reckon it may be your phone. I have a LG KF750 and have no probs with pairing/connecting and making/recieving calls. Check in your phone BT settings that your Navi is set to 'always connect', that may help.

  19. Does anyone know what the following setting is for? It's in the DATA.zip. > pioneer Configuration Settings > [interface] > exit_on_restart=1 < I'm guessing (and I mean guessing!) that it may be something to do with my 500 restarting when I turn the ignition to start my car, ie: ignition @ accessory > 500 powers up, ignition @ start > 500 turns off, then on, and reboots. This is a pain, especially with it having a built-in battery, I would have thought with ignition turned off for a short while the unit would go into 'sleep' mode (for as long as the internal batter
  20. No, this is in Navi settings - go to >Top Menu>Settings>Navi Settings>Regional Settings>Distance Units.......... voila! EDIT My mistake, I mis-read your post - DOH! I think you'll find it's from Mavericks DATA.zip hacks/mods, that's what I'm using.
  21. Seems that would defeat the idea of having a screen in the first place....? Go into >Settings Menu>System Settings>Picture Adjustment and turn down the screen brightness: sorted!
