  1. I did a search but if I missed this somewhere else I apologize, point me in the right direction and I'll go there. I read the post on the screen going black after 20 seconds but mine is black from the beginning and nothing works. I hear the hard disc spinning (at least I assume that's what I hear). I've tried the reset button and the menu, map, eject and reset button but neither method worked. I've also tried booting up with my back up files on SD card. The odd thing is that this has been going on for two days but this morning when I turned the ignition on, everything worked fine all the way t
  2. I agree that made no sense at all. I have the F900 in my F-150 and a comparable Kenwood unit in a company van. I like both, but I prefer the F900, I've never had any issues with it, none! I have XM, 5th Gen iPod, use the SD card for audiobooks and connect to BT with a 3G iPhone flawlessly. To ME, the Pioneer is easier to use and only slightly slower to boot. It's also much more functional.
  3. Dude, your problem sounds like it's more with America than Pioneer. You can say it's sold by Pioneer USA all you want, it doesn't change the fact that it isn't built here and Pioneer is not an American company, they have an American division to the best of my knowledge (please correct me if I understand this wrong). America is the greatest country in the world so go F%$k yourself. Sorry all, except Pertodumbass, I'm watching the President on CNN and feeling a little too patriotic I guess
  4. Hey CatchMeIfYouCan, Just in case, the "A" is audio
  5. I agree, these threads are helpful as are most debates, as long as they don't turn into ridiculous arguments. One part I'd like to clear up though, I can live with the lag, it's only slightly worse than a Kenwood I have in another vehicle but the Pioneer does so much more. I don't consider lag time a bug and I haven't noticed any bugs at all in three and a half weeks. I own a small company and have navigation units in all of my technicians vehicles, mostly dash mounted units but after a few thefts have switched to indash units for the last three, mine having the Pioneer. I will most likely be
  6. Amen! It's amazing how something so small and simple can make such a huge difference in usability. Quality is top notch, looks great but most importantly makes using the dial much easier for us with big hands while driving. THANK YOU!
  7. Well, this isn't meant as a flame but I do disagree with you. I've had my F900BT for three weeks now and love it, it works exactly as described. I did take the time to read the manual and this forum which addresses several issues that I've seen complaints about, such as the formatting of contacts. Several people complain that VR doesn't work with their contacts. My bet is they didn't check to see if they were formatted correctly. That's just meant as one example, there are many. When I turn on my unit I have music in less than 10 seconds. My navigation and iPhone are connected and usable in ab
  8. The mic looks good where you put it. Mine is on the visor, any further away and I get complaints from those on the other end of the call. Does the dash mount pick up well in your install? I'm not that fond of mine being on the visor but it works well there.
  9. Damn, message to self, read the whole message. Sorry. On the other hand, I do use the search button
  10. Vandal, You are a credit to this forum. I hope you get your limit upgraded. Your uploads are benificial to the members and that should be what it's all about. If I'm not asking too much, could you tell me what program you use to edit the imagetbl.dat. If you don't want to say, no worries. Thanks
  11. An idea just popped into my head, can the IMAGETBL.DAT for the Z series be used with the F series? My guess is that it can't unless the only difference between the Z and F is image attributes and if the IMAGETBL.DAT does not specify attributes or placement of the icon on the screen.
  12. I thought it might be something in the DAT file. Unfortunately I've tried to open it with a couple different programs and hd no luck, probably getting a lttle over my head there anyway so just as well, I know enough to get myself in trouble but not enough to get out of it . Oh well, once again thanks for all your help.
  13. Thank you Vandal, you've been a great help to many of us. I hope you get released from the limit as I have an F series:) I tried to do this myself a few days ago, I got them all mapped out except I am not getting Boneyard to show up correctly. I beleive it should be named "DPS053.bmp" since it's at the same channel that AC/DC used to be at. I did that but I still have the "DPSNOT.bmp" icon when I tune to Boneyard. If you can't upload, any hints? I have everything mapped out to a spreadsheet and not sure what I did wrong. Hopefully I can pay forward the help you've provided me.
  14. S4's point is, this thread is moot now. He's right in every respect, I beleive you just proved it.
  15. So in a month will you be on the Clarion website wanting someone to help you sue them and saying how good the Pioneer was?
  16. Good question, I've tried several pics @ 800X480 and all look perfect. If you open the pic in a viewer such as Paint, does it look normal there? If so check the attributes to verify that it's still 800X480. Not sure how the attributes could change, the AVIC unit surley wouldn't do it, but that's the only reason I can think of that would cause the pic to be distorted.
  17. I also have the same problem with my 5th gen iPod. In my case I know it's the iPod freezing up since it occassionally did it prior to hooking it up to my f900bt. I had to reboot my iPod. It's only happened once but I've only had the f900bt for 6 days. On another issue, yesterday the unit recognized the iPod and showed it as playing but no audio was coming through the speakers but everything else had sound. I had to go into the menu and set AV1 to iPod and it worked again.
  18. Trust me, if you had bought the Kenwood you would be disappointed in it too and wishing you'd bought the Pioneer. I have the DNX6140 in another car and like the F900 much more. And did you really beleive the commercial??? Come on, that's crazy. If I'm spending hundreds of dollars I'm not going to trust the manufacturer, I'm going to read reviews and surf forums. I did and I'm happy. Back to the Kenwood, it's a good unit too, don't get me wrong. I just prefer the Pioneer much more. It works better for my application and better with my iPod and iPhone than the Kenwood. I will say the microphone
  19. I've only had my F900 for five days and this is only my second post. However, I love this unit! I came from a Kenwood that I liked also but like the Pioneer much better. Are you serious about a lawsuit? First you have to have grounds, good luck with that. If you know of a perfect unit, please share and I'll switch in a heartbeat. I don't think one exists but the f900 is pretty close, at least to me after five days. Thanks to this forum, I've been able to solve issues like getting voice recognition to work with my iPhone by adjusting my contacts, now it works. I learned how to do the hardwi
  20. I just added XM plus best of Sirius for $167 for 2 years. I have multiple receivers so I think I get a discount but still, the price you mention is pretty high. I did cancel my account almost two years ago, they let me but I recieved an email a couple of months later offering a discount if I signed up for an annual account which I did. I'm not sure if the merger with Sirius takes away any leverage or not, my guess is that it does. Not much info there but I hope it helps a little.
