  1. So, after 6 months of use I lost my GPS signal today. After a couple of hours or trying figure out if a wire broke or the GPS antenna was dead, I just, on a hunch, decided to re-installed the 3.1FX and GPS started working. I ordered the free upgrade 2.xx SD card from Pioneer, just in case I ever have to go back to the old software. Anyone know how to revert back to 2.xx? Is it the same procedure where you copy over the contents of the flash drive over onto the onboard drive and reset? Thanks.
  2. In one of the menus there is an "OFF" button. Press it and it turns off.
  3. I have been playing DIVX 6 and XVID movies on the F700BT so far. Those are the movies I have converted. If you just have DVD or BD rips they need to be converted to AVIC readable format.
  4. Has anyone been able to add celebrity voices to their F-series GPS? This is one of the sources, but they don't list AVIC... http://pigtones.com/
  5. I updated the firmware last night. Other than new XM icons, which are pretty, it finally let me transfer my phone book contacts from the phone to the unit. I have tried both bluetooth drivers before, neither worked. I have LG Muziq... Now, if I could tether 3G broadband through bluetooth.......
  6. No, you are bloodninja, I am God, well, blue eyed god. My handle says so. Discuss
  7. If you're that unhappy with your unit you should probably sell it and get a new one. Not only will it make you happier, it will give you a lot more credibility when you bash the unit. I actually tried to sell it a while back. Problem is I paid 1000 bucks for it, and the ebay listing barely hit 500 bucks WITH XM reciever, and more thrown in. Instead of setting fireworks off it, let someone have it for $500. You are still going to be $500 ahead than setting it on fire. I agree, it is not as trouble prone as other units out there, but if you know how to run a windows base
  8. Wow, I haven't been on here for a few weeks, and this new kid, bloodninja is really angry. Haven't gotten any lately?
  9. Speed camera are not being detected. The GPS system just alerts you to a POI list that someone compiled of all the speedcams. If municipality installs new cameras, someone, you, will have to update POI!!!!!
  10. I am in Buffalo, so the sun is not as strong as Texas, but I still have tinted windows and put a up sun shade when I leave the car parked in direct sunlight. The sunshade keeps the interior at least 20°F cooler on a hot (86°F was last year's record) sunny day. I have not had the unit in the summer, yet, but the screen does not come on until the cabin temprature is above 10°F or so, after sitting in sub zero weather all night.
  11. Depends on the car. CR-V, at least Gen 2.5, has a CD cubby under the double Din radio. It has rubber non-skid lining. I keep mine in there, as well as a bunch of SD cards with stuff I downloaded recently and did not feel like synching the archaic iPOD/iTUNES mambo jumbo.
  12. Not sure what head units VW uses, but you can always buy a Sirius receiver, or better, XM receiver for the AVIC and continue enjoying your sattelite radio service.
  13. thanks for the easy bypass guide. Did it this weekend in 15 minutes, When I popped yellow wire, I must have pushed on it too hard as it would not lock in place at its new location, but I made it work. Next hack, TV tuner.
  14. Probably not because Converter Boxes are meant for indoor use with a TV...so you probably won't find a DC one since all houses are AC. I am sure if one were to open one of those digital converter boxes, one would see that there is a transformer and a rectifier inside. They probably run on 5V. One could just oslder wires to the board and power it through a voltage regulator or a simple resistor. This is a great idea! I am going to try it out once I get my coupons (second time) lost coupons from the last batch. Luckily, they allow you to re-order now.
  15. Are you sure this function is available on 700BT?
  16. Are you guys using 16Gb with the F700BT? The spec sheet says it only supports 8 Gb via SD and 2 Gb via USB.
  17. The PDF manual that came on CD explains how to set it up.
  18. No. You damaged the pin on the mute wire when you moved it to the bypass location and it is not making good contact. You are not alone in that. Many have posted the same problem here. Most refuse to believe that this is the problem at first, but finally give in and re-check and verify it. I never moved the mute pin. I took the parking brake cable and connected it to ground, as if the parking brake was on.
  19. Phone Make/Model: LG LX570 MUZIQ Carrier: SprintLocation: US/EU Pairing Compatibility: Yes Phonebook Transfer: No Make/Receive Calls: Make/Receive/Both Voice Dialing: Yes number SMS Alert: No Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I can't import the address book into AVIC F700BT.
  20. So, I connected the parking brake wire to the ground, to by-pass the brake brake lock out. When I first start driving it gives me the Lawyer screen, and then "wrong parking brake conneciton" screen. But, I can press OK and it goes to GPS. Is that what everyone else is getting?
  21. If your vehicle was originally equipped with steering wheel controls, PAC makes units that adopt OEM steering wheel contorls to AVIC. I have never had a car radio with a remote. It seems kind of useless since you have to reach for the remote, might as well reach for the knobs.

    Ipod cable

You need the composite cable with the RCA jacks, the AVIC uses USB to control the ipod, but the audio and video inputs are handled via the RCA inputs, not the USB. Thank you for the prompt reply. Let me get this straight. If I plug in a Sansa media player in the USB connector, it will play music and video off Sansa, and control it through Avic, correct? We only need RCA/USB cable for the iPOD, right?

    Ipod cable

Would the original iPOD USB cable that came with the iPOD work? I see that Pioneer cable has RCA leads as well as USB connector. I just bought F700BT with 2.0 firmware, but have not installed it, as Crutchfield does not have XM receiver in stock. (I have credit with them). If the stock iPOD cable works with the USB connection, why do we need RCA leads? Sorry if it is a dumb question, but I am new to AVIC, and don't know if the USB connection is capable of delivering sound out of the iPOD. From the manual is seems that if you plug in a USB drive with music on it, AVIC will rea
