  1. I saw this thread and got all excited, thinking that this would fix the sluggish touchscreen performance and frequent iPod hangs of my F700 -- I remembered that I had upgraded to v2 on my unit a long time ago. So I ordered this update, and it arrived today. I opened the package up, went to do the install, and found that my unit has the v2 MAPS on it; the SOFTWARE is v3. I wish Pioneer would use one version number for their kit, and would print the version number on the packaging and not hide it in an HTML file on SD card #1. If the seller won't take it back, I guess it will probab
  2. [*:k50d9p2o]When booting, will frequently go to the anti-theft password screen, even though power's not been removed from the unit. [*:k50d9p2o]Listening to music, phone call comes in, the unit switches to the map display; wait 3-5 seconds for display to paint before the phone menu comes up. [*:k50d9p2o]Occasionally when booting, the unit will play the radio or my iPod as expected, but the screen will lock up, necessitating a reboot of the whole car. (If only I could do a Ctl-Alt-Del instead on just the AVIC. ) [*:k50d9p2o]Every time I boot, the entire VR Dictionary for my iPod must be relo
  3. If it's the "extra" hidden files, get something like Hidden Cleaner. Rather than dragging your SD card to the eject button, drag it to this app instead and it will remove any hidden files for you, then automatically eject it.
  4. Yeah, what ianken said. (BTW, great deal you got on the unit!) I did run with the previous fw, for a few hours. It was the sux. In that short amount of time, it crashed on me multiple times. Since upgrading to 2.x, it's only locked up a couple times since I got it upgraded in March. Things I think could be improved: [*:1e3x96nz]More consistent UI -- there are at least 4 different i/f's for controlling media playback, which makes the unit look like it was made by 4 different tech school graduates from 4 different countries: [*:1e3x96nz]iPod control [*:1e3x96nz]Radio control [*
  5. Oh, I don't think anyone needs to worry -- it's Windows. It'll get hacked again in no time.
  6. Here's the one I made for my F700bt, from a pic of my Mercedes Benz C230 Sport Coupe.
  7. $409 at Abe's of Maine -- I just posted a little more detail in this thread last night. That's where I got mine (although a couple weeks ago and $20 less!)
  8. I saw that other post -- I didn't see anything in there to indicate that it would fix bad VR characteristics. I only saw it as a tool to allow users to edit their phonebooks without having to d/l SQLite Personal Edition. Will this actually fix broken VR? No matter what I say, my VR always goes to "AAA" or "Allison". I'm worried that Allison's b/f will start to worry about me calling her so much!
  9. Nuts -- I misread your initial post. I thought you were offering to code three new ones and were looking for suggestions! I was able to roll it all up into one mod: Maverickster's. Sorry if I misled you!

    Where to buy?

I just got mine from Abe's of Maine (located in NJ -- go figger...) While Amazon's price has been increasing (from about $340 a couple months ago to $410 now), Abe's had it for $400, and I used the "FRIEND10" discount code during checkout for $10 off, making it $390. Free shipping, too. Sadly, Abe's price has now gone up, too, so even with the discount code, it's only $0.95 cheaper than Amazon.
  12. I am really excited about either of these two mods. I really don't like having to wear my reading glasses while driving, and up until this point, the route info boxes have been basically useless to me. I'm a little partial to dumpystig's version that doesn't have a border (isn't the font slightly larger?), but I'd love to see either of these integrated with maverickster's group of mods... And folks, don't be afraid of putting up a "beta" version of your mods!! You might find someone willing to help! (not that I'm volunteering, mind you, but such is the nature of "open source"!)
  13. Dim the display when the dark color scheme is activated. My daytime brightness is too bright for night use, even with the color scheme changing to a nighttime scheme, and vice versa.
  14. Awesome! I'd given up on Samantha until I got this mod. Nice job, Yettavr6! Makes it much more usable.
