  1. Thanks, good info. I work in Pittsburgh and I noticed that the 3.0 teleatlas finally tells me to get off the correct (3b) exit for Oakland... But my Garmins navteq seems better. So should I try Navteq 2009.01 ? If it can only direct me around all the G20 whackjobs next week...
  2. Thanks! That is what I am thinking would be the best route. I am getting an antenna y-cable so I can am/fm/msn and the HD radio(I have just it hooked up now, (Very nice!), and a backup camera, so I will try that when I pull it all apart again for those. I might try bypassing the factory amp first, since I think they use 2 connectors one male and one female, that you just connect together if it is not present, but I think that will disable the central read subwoofer. The Kia Amanti is a very nice car for the money, and there are approximately zero web sites with good information on the newe
  3. I have a 2008 Kia Amanti that I put a F90BT in. The Amanti has the factory optional Infinity externally amplified speakers. The amp is mounted seperate from the radio, in the trunk. I hooked the normal speaker outputs directly to the vehicles factory wiring (with a color keyed adapter). Everything works great, and correct. I do get some background hiss, I assume from the wrong level of input into the amp. The radio, and most mp3s are very loud (and clear) in the mid 20s on the volume, and my mid 30s are extremely loud, getting distorted. I think I have 3 choices: 1) remove the exter
  4. This sounds like what happens if I leave a USB drive plugged in when I shut down and restart.
  5. Does anyone have any insight? Should I try again or put the 2.0006 update on first?
  6. What is the source resolution? The AVIC is 800x480 which is actually higher than DVD (720x480)
  7. I REALLY would love to get this working, but every time I try various methods i get the system startup message... I am running 2.0000 should I hold off on any mods until I update to 2.006?
  8. I have tried both ways and it never fully boots it stays at the screen with the "System Startup in Progress... "message . And while I am new to editing my F90bt, I am in no way a noob at windows or CE (I still have a CE 1.1 device!, and CE is the main reason I bought this Pioneer unit) I have a F90BT with 2.000 on it. Also is there a scripting language that you can use in CE? If I get it working I want to make it automated to add/remove it. I have testmode on a SD card, modified files/folders on my USB drive (with backups of originals), then I boot with card in and copy from usb to '
  9. It will accept an animated gif as input for the splash screen, but it will not animate, only show the first image.
  10. I wonder if an animated gif would work. Maybe I'll give it a shot tonight!
  11. go to bing.com, (used to be live.com microsoft search) and search for something to buy. It will typically have a link to searching on ebay. if it does, and use use buy it now and paypal it will be up to %8 of price back to your paypal.
  12. Where did you get it for $510? That is a great price!
  13. Thanks for the info, it sounds like I have plenty of room. I have the project on hold due to other issues in the Amanti. It has an external 3 line LCD display that will show an error if stock radio is disconnected. I might end up putting a full screen in there or get the base Amanti's analog clock to replace it.
  14. Sounds like a quote from Marvin the Paranoid Android in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!
  15. I pulled the 2 week old car apart today! Holy crap, what a pain, I thought I was going to have to pull the spare tire out next. Everything overlaps from the front to the rear, I had to start in the back seat and remove the rear panel of the center console, and work my way forward... The Metra dash kit looks better than I thought it would, it might be OK as is. I seem to have a ton of depth space, from 7½" to close to 8" in some spots. I hit a new snag, on the top of the dash is a digital display that shows trip conputer, clock/calendar, and radio info. When I disconnected the factory ra
  16. I don't but that is the only source of info I could find for a 2008 Kia Amanti. 2004-2006 is a different beast, but I think 07-09 is the same dash.
  17. Thanks for the reply, I agree, .027" is nothing. But what really concerned me is how Crutchfield said "You have 7.029" of depth and the Pioneer is 7.056" deep." But Pioneer said it is only 6.5" deep, so how deep is it really. I will be putting the dash kit in and measuring how much room I actually have.
  18. I'm going to open up my dash in the next day or two, does anyone have the actual depth dimension of the F900bt or F700bt?
  19. Does anybody have the actual dimensions available? Or a photo of the side/top view?
  20. 1st, I do not have an AVIC yet. From what I have read on this forum, your SD card may not be formatted to the AVIC's requirements. I believe it has to be FAT32, and the allocation size must be 32K or smaller. Do a search on SD formatting.

    $200 Rebate

has anyone applied for the rebate? I was wondering if I could buy it from Amazon or 6AVE and get $200 back! Pioneers site says http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... ant+Rebate Purchase a brand new Pioneer AVIC-F Series In-Dash Navigation System (AVIC-F90BT, AVIC-F900BT, AVIC-F700BT) from Pioneer directly or from an Authorized Pioneer or Pioneer Premier Dealer between January 07, 2009 and April 30, 2009. Isn't Amazon an Authorized Pioneer dealer?
  22. I am planning on getting an AVIC F90BT to put in the new 2008 Kia Amanti I just got. It is a real nice car with lots of features, but about as bland a radio as possible, and no NAV. I also have a Chrysler RB1 Nav radio in my minivan and really like it even though it is very basic by 2009 standards. I am VERY interested in accessing the WINCE and would love to put other apps in it/on it. I have read hundreds of posts on this site and think I know what I'm getting into fairly well. I already ordered the Metra DoubleDin dash kit, antenna adapter, and wiring adapter. I want to see how well t
  23. My Metra Dash kit actually came today! It looks like it is made OK, but it is textured black plastic, not metallic gray specked like my dash. I might try painting it, but it might be OK as is. I have the W.A.F. to worry about (Wife Acceptance Factor).
