Once you have your music playing through the aux, pressing the Mode button will take you to the navigation screen while the music plays.
  2. 1. Yes, quite a few. 2. You will need a PAC SWI-PS steering wheel control interface module. 3. The XM can be retained through the rear controls and steering wheel controls with the PAC OS-4, but cannot be controlled from the Z110. The OS-4 will also retain your OnStar. 4. OS-4 will also retain the rear seat entertainment system. There are also methods to wire in the Z110's dual zone capabilities.

Get some 18ga primary wire, strip back about 3", cut off about half of the strands, and twist the others up thin and tight. You can push it through the hole in the connector, and force the jacket into the hole to hold it in place. Cut the copper wiring off as flush to the connector as you can. Take what's left of the copper strands sticking out of the harness, and bend it flat against the head of the connector, away from the other row of pins. You don't even have to remove the mute wire.

  5. The mic should be something you can hardwire, and yes it will control iPod video. Are you aware of the nature of the project it would be to put a Z110 in that car? Assuming the audio system is stock; There is no radio replacement harness, it's an amplified system, with a data-based amp turn on, controlled through MOST. You can't turn the factory amp on, you *might* be able to bypass it, and if you can't bypass it, then the speakers are all individually amplified, so you would have to replace those as well, or modify the hell out of them (remove the amps, and connect the speakers wires dir
  6. What buttons on the steering wheel were they trying to use for the VR? Not all of the buttons share the same CANbus wires, so it made need a second SWI-PS. If it's buttons for factory bluetooth, then they probably communicate with the bluetooth module, and not the radio.
  7. It also has a customizable home screen, BT audio, Hi-Volt preouts, 7-band EQ, and a much better voice command system. It also catalogs the VR content in the background, instead of taking over the unit. 8. I believe you will have to put the MSN Direct tuner in between the HD radio module, and the head unit.
  9. Good luck. 6ave is sketchy as shit. For a LONG time, they listed themselves as an authorized dealer for Pioneer, but what they DIDN'T say was that they were only an authorized dealer for Pioneer's home theater products. I believe they are now authorized, though.

If you have the echo cancellation in the unit turned on, try checking your phone for an echo cancellation system, as well. If your phone has it, turn it off. Also, what vehicle, and where is your mic located?
  11. Average install cost usually ranges from $150-$200. I'll see if I can find an installer in your area to help you out.
  12. Is it a BlackBerry or other smartphone? If it's a Blackberry, then it's in the phone, not the unit. You will need to change the setting in the phone, delete (not just disconnect) the phone from the BT memory, and re-pair to correct the issue. VR works beautifully, if the mic is in the correct place, and if you speak correctly. You don't have to talk like a robot, just make sure that you annunciate. Every complaint I get about the VR not working, is typically due to the user speaking a little TOO naturally.
  13. 100% legit. http://retailer2.installationexcellence ... eid=217512 Dash kit, harness, and antenna adapter price is about right, and install price is $50 less than industry standard. No $200 interface = no LCD display.
  14. Above the steering column is usually just fine. Typically works just as well as mounting it by the rearview mirror, and in some cases, much better.
  15. I have personally installed a Z110, with that exact cage, in that exact same dash kit (Metra 99-9011, you didn't list a year), in a different model car. If nothing else, yes the Z110 will fit fine in that cage.
  16. You can add a wire, instead of trying to remove the mute wire. If it cuts off at 5 mph, then the bypass is incorrect. Also, did you install a steering wheel control interface module with the unit, or are you just assuming that they would continue to work with a new radio?
  17. Strip 3" off the end of a piece of standard 18 ga, cut off all but about 8 strands, and twist them very tightly. Push them through the hole on the connector where it's needed, and pull it so the rubber jacket wedges inside the connector (hence the need for 18ga, need a large enough jacket). Cut off the excess, leave ~1/16th". Bend the remaining copper up and away from any other pins. Ground the new wire, no pin needed, completely reversible mod, and leaves the mute wire in place.
  18. Metra Axxess P/N XSVI-9003-NAV provides VSS and P.Brake through CANbus, right at the module. No chasing wires to get what you need. Any good shop should have been able to look up the wire info, or should at least know to use the correct module.
  19. I fail to see how flooding them with garbage e-mails will speed things up... Plenty of my customers have received their rebates back without incident. Did you purchase from an authorized dealer? If you purchased from an unauthorized dealer, then you're getting your dues. Also, keep in mind, many electronic companies, and companies related to the industry, are just now getting back in the swing from CES.
  20. Funny how terrible service comes hand-in-hand with unauthorized dealers.
  21. If you need it longer, get a CD-IU200V. Same cable, just longer (~2m).
  22. Somewhat common issue on these units. Keep an eye out for a firmware upgrade. There is also a known issue with the VR system not loading at boot-up.
  23. Any reputable shop won't do the bypass anyways. And as far as bonehead installer goes, any good installer should know how to bypass any unit they install. I know all of my guys do, regardless of whether or not they do it. And it CAN be done with a switch, you just need to make sure that both wires are grounded, and you can hook a switch in line with either one to toggle the bypass. If your vehicle has a VSS output, then you could use a switch and a two relays to toggle between bypassed, and standard operation.
  24. Set the parking brake, or make sure your bypass is done correctly. USB if for charging/control, 3.5mm connector transmits audio and video signals.
  25. You need a CD-IU50V, set the AV1 Input to iPod, and there should be no issues. If you have a problem, then you're not doing something right. As stated above, the correct iPod cable, and turning on the input are all that need to be done. USB only will NOT work. USB is only used for charging and control, whereas the 4-ring aux connection is what transmits the audio and video signals.
