  1. Will this Head Unit also charge your iPhone? Yes.
  2. Updates Page: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... 10BT?tab=F Instructions: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ephox ... 1.0003.pdf Update File: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ephox ... 1.0003.zip Maybe it goes without saying, but read and follow the instructions carefully when updating so as not to brick your unit. You'll need a blank SD card.
  3. I just got one, so I'll check if mine works later today.
  4. No one has been able to get the U310 to boot in test mode and it looks like Pioneer is about to replace it with a new model. It seems that chances are pretty good that the U310 will simply never be hacked -- not because it can't be, but because there's an insufficient combination of interest and know-how among U310 users.
  5. There was a firmware update (1.0003) late last year that mercifully addressed some of the more pressing issues, although several annoyances remain (particularly incorrect locations on the GPS). http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... 10BT?tab=F Given the heavy discounting of the U310 around the web and new versions of other models coming out, it seems like an update to the hardware is imminent (maybe even as soon as the Road Show next week). I agree with VBLUE42; unfortunately we will probably never see another firmware update or anyone getting into test mode on this model.
  6. I didn't know about that. I guess I should have fiddled around more. Thanks for the tip!
  7. No problem. Glad to hear you got it working!
  8. Are you using the microphone that came with the unit?
  9. Mine is located above my air conditioning vent, very close to the upper dash plastic. If you have a newer car, it might be worth looking around online to see if there is a default installation location for GPS antennas. I did this and found a dealer manual for installing GPS head units for the European version of my car, so I knew that this was the optimal location. If you can't find a manual, it's up to your judgement. Just be sure to test it before you close up the dash. You should be able find a enough room for the antenna somewhere under the dash and still be able to pull a signal, in
  10. You should double-check that the USB cable is completely inserted behind the HU. Sometimes these things come loose when finalizing the install. If you haven't (though you probably have), I would also verify that your iPod cable works with your computer using the sync cable in question. One more thing you could check is whether or not it can read off a USB stick. Just load an MP3 file and plug it in... if it doesn't read, it's probably the connection. If the USB stick does, but the iPod doesn't, then it's a problem with the HU or the iPod. My guess is that the USB cable is just loose th

    Caller ID

When I make an outgoing call using the U310, I always see the name, but for incoming calls I only see the number. I know that some phones support names via bluetooth (with other devices), while others do not. Could this be a possible explanation? I've only used my original iPhone with my U310, and never any names for me. (That always annoyed me.) Sorry I cant be of more help.
  12. You can use any USB iPod cable with the U310.

    Caller ID

No, I have the same issue. I don't know if the U310 is even supposed to have this feature, though you'd think it would. I haven't found anything about it in the manual.
  14. Yes, you need the second step. Hold the source button for about ten seconds, until it says "Off." Now, push in the jog dial (the scrolling/pushing circular input) for a few seconds. The settings menu should then appear.
  15. Strange but neat. I'm sure this will help someone else down the line who is thinking of leaving the brake wire unconnected. Thanks for sharing!
