  1. I think it may at this point make sense to add to the description of this forum. It's now been doc'd that the F10/F20 are same hardware - and similarly software upgradeable/compatible. Since those (F10/F20) really don't fit in the F forums (which have been cracked, modded etc), I would welcome them here. It seems with a bit more 'critical mass (meaning tech ppl)', both HUs will move forward. They run pretty much the exact software etc... Just a thought...
  2. Just bumping the thread. It's also in 'Problems' - but should be stickied here....
  3. I think you have again confirmed an issue (well - really a huge monstrous design problem) with the the Z. I'm now toying with the idea to move to a random Chinese thing (had one before - but now they have in-car Internet). Just keep calling and complaining... I can't imagine a company having a flagship device with *poor* - nay *awful* BT in-call performance. I'm guessing due to the lack of a fix, they are marketing this at people who don't care about BT mic performance - meaning the ability to make a professional call ( not to your friends - I mean for conference calls, custome
  4. UPDATE 10.31.11: Just installed a new Z130BT in wife's car - same exact BT call issues..... As there is a huge number of threads on BT sound - specific to calls (not streaming music), I am asking that this gets stickied - until there is a resolution. It is well documented that people here owning Z110/Z120s are getting poor performance on calls (others hear noises - incoming voices are good). I am asking that we put one cohesive thread for these issues and possible fixes. Personally, I have now torn apart my dash to move the mic to "top left" - from steering column. There's no
  5. Issues with BT sound (mic related - only during calls) occur with any phone I have tested (MT Android, (2) separate iPhones, random Blackberry). It is a definite issue, and I wold guess most - if not all - have it. I believe some here have never had a *good* BT in car system - and maybe this is adequate - but if you have had real BT in car (meaning a factory setup - like Lexus/Toyota etc), this just does not work. I proper BT in car setup should have virtually *no* background noise. Out other cars have sound approaching a wired mic (to phone). Others can't tell you are on an open
  6. It is my personal opinion that VR issues are mainly due to a poor BT mic circuit, If others on the other end hear noise, clearly any VR software will have to deal with the same thing. This may not be for you if you are used to a 'factory' VR, or a factory BT sound (for calls). Calls are also very poor.
  7. I think there is plenty of documentation on the mic quality. YOu can get a different one (Garmin), you can move the mic, but the BT mic quality is very poor in comparison to Kenwood etc. Personally, I wish I knew this going in. BT music streaming is great. But if you use BT mic in your car, this probably is a poor choice - and likely the reason Voice recognition isn't great (it makes sense that they are linked). For straight audio, it's a great product
  8. Keep in mind before purchasing - there is a well known issue with Bluetooth and Mic. If you use it for calls, it will likely not be a great connection - but if you use a plugged in mic to your cell, it does not matter... Streaming BT music is perfect.
  9. Read all the mic / BT discussions... It seems there is little you can do (top left is "best" according to Pioneer). New mics may help - but don't fix it...
  10. It would be interesting to hear from those who actually had a good BT setup (we have a Lexus - which is perfect), and gone the distance to fix this thing. It would seem from the threads that in the end, this product has a clear issue with the mic. I have two friends who have played with it - and yes - you can get it to sound OK (meaning not close to good) - in the end, it will never be good. I updated my BT to the latest, and there was no change. I haven't moved the mic to the "drivers left" - or "center" - but from the posts, I still see no one with big "gains"... Kinda
  11. ????? How is it irrelevant ????? I would now guess that each Pioneer is running the same NAVI (with exception of display driver), likely same/similar file structure. I'd hazard a guess that in a few days, some of the things done on previous Pioneers (hacks) will become very relevant. Maybe it's time to remove your thread on TESTMODE Its irrelevant because they have already been hacked and this method would not apply. And they are not running the same NAVI. And as long as TESTMODE still doesn't work in the same way it does on those units, those threads will remain. T
  12. Watch the Hacking discussion - there are some WinCE devices that have done this - the interface would be USB...
  13. I too would love me a little iGo. Ran it for a while on a random Chinese WINCE HU. I don't think Android works - because of the 'radio/sound' layer - and that dev (which IMHO is really good comparing with the other WINCE HUs) - but a nice CE filemanager, maybe a bit of CE IE, added with a touch of CE WiFi USB driver would allow my Android to stream Internet service into the car... We can all wish..........
  14. Yes for the 920 but the 910 and F series use different software. Regardless those units have been hacked for a while so this is irrelevant. ????? How is it irrelevant ????? I would now guess that each Pioneer is running the same NAVI (with exception of display driver), likely same/similar file structure. I'd hazard a guess that in a few days, some of the things done on previous Pioneers (hacks) will become very relevant. Maybe it's time to remove your thread on TESTMODE
  15. Short: Just throwing a little more love your way....... Am I correct in guessing that Pioneer is using pretty much the same software for their other products (X910/X920), F series??? You have forced me to begin following this on my Android phone.....
  16. Search is your friend (remotes). I've got the PAC WRI (wired remote), PAC SWI (for steering wheel buttons), and Pioneer remote. While all the buttons don't work (VR etc - read the posts), it still adds more functionality than my stock 'vol', track, mode (VR). I like the thing... It's not perfect (remote has to line up with sensor - so when you are turning the wheel, it doesn't work), but nice.
  17. Read the Bluetooth hands free discussion. I don't think anyone has identified a clear cut solution. Garmin was suggested, but it seems as you see, that really does little. Your other option is moving the mic.
  18. If you read the Hack email trail, it seems possible - get that update, and follow the directions (you would in that case need the EU update).
  19. Someone did the upgrade as is detailed in hacking post. I'd go there...
  20. I've spoken with both Ray and Henry - yes they have heard about this issue - and it seems the official response is to act ignorant. I disabled my BT - but since I just did the Z120 update/BT update(s), I'll try it again. From talking with others, changing mics (Garmin) really doesn't do a lot. Ray said the most important thing is to locate the mic at the top left of the windshield - next to the visor. As I need to pull apart my dash/A pillar etc, I've put that off until I'm in there for something else...
  21. That's big news - seems to also mean you could buy a US Z110/120, and now use it in the EU (with correct updates). From memory, the US version is like 1/2 the price of the EU version (discounted).
  22. You can buy a DTV box (many run on 12VDC), and use the AUX AV inputs. It will run via remote - so either the box has to be mounted in a direct access spot, or you need a remote repeater. That said, your issue will be getting a good antenna. I could not find anything that works well (and fits) in my Prius...
  23. I'll add my thanks to the great efforts done on the Z110/Z120. It is funny that large corporations are scared of the open source world. The Pioneer for me is now (v2.0) a bit more friendly - but still *woefully* lacking. A friend in the EU has the Z (F) version, and after almost a year (first with a buggy Kenwood), is moving to Sony (http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/35338/s ... tom-satnav). I only wish a company could help to push its product more into the main stream (allowing custom upgrades - to systems like Nav). Hopefully this sets off a bit of outside dev that can do f
  24. As was stated - I'd stay clear of the MSNBC module - it's really useless... For Sat radio, the XM module is possibly better than the Sirrius because it shows stations and album art (presets etc). From what I've read, HD has the same problem - no station info on presets... I would add the PAC WRI and Pioneer steering remote is actually useful.
  25. Internationally, people use day month year - but that is sad it was a hassle...
