  1. FYP We have to be careful in the noob threads to not confuse them when they're already "not getting it" because simply horrible things happen when they ground the cars actual parking brake lead.. ....just saying... fixed my original post. Sorry, reached the end of my chain with this one and wanted to get that post out and be done with it..
  2. When doing a hardware bypass, you're grounding the AVIC parking brake lead, which is technically what connecting it correctly does when the parking break is set. However, you need to move the mute wire from it's stock location in the AV harness as outlined in the guide(s) here in order to actually complete this. It's ok to connect the relocated mute wire, the AVIC parking brake wire, and the ground wire in the f700 harness together to the factory ground on the car specific harness, most of the time. If it still functions incorrectly and you're SURE the mute wire was relocated proper
  3. I'm saying that unless there's a wire spliced into the parking brake on your H3, then run into the factory harness that the metra kit is connecting to, I don't care what the instructions say, it's incorrectly connected. Are you starting to grasp this yet, as the cause of the "Incorrectly connected brake wire" error you're having?
  4. I don't drop my phone often either, but when I do, I'd hate to be looking at smashed glass. It seems strong, but it is glass. The edge is the weak point, I'd go for something with more protection, as I said. To each their own though.
  5. because you aren't following. If you're trying to connect the parking brake wire from the avic, it's not in the factory radio harness. If you're trying to do the bypass, move the mute wire, connect it and the parking brake wire to ground. Not a big deal, nor is it rocket science. It has, however, been covered so much on this forum that the whole topic is just a pile of covers now. Not thread crapping. Pointing out what you're failing to grasp. Also, why did you reply to a thread that's been dormant for 7 months, instead of the sticky at the top of this forum dealing with
  6. Are you quitting modding, or releasing 3.0? Your mods are slick, but that font gives me a headache just looking at the screenshots
  7. what ipod do you have? What ipod cable are you using?
  8. There's this thread you're replying to, and a sticky. If yo can't folow it, don't do it. It's extremely basic. As I told you in your other thread, you aren't connecting the parking brake to anything. You're connecting it to the parking break wire on some factory adapter harness, not the actual parking brake lead. Install it correctly and it'll work. If you can't do it yourself, take it to an installer and pay them. End of discussion.
  9. I'm sure it's there, it's probably just a different color. If it truly isn't, you're going to need a different harness anyway. Stehpanie has done a pinout for the AV harness, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find one for the power harness. Even without the pinout, the power harness is simple process of elimation. Switched power, constant power, ground, illumination, 4 speaker pairs and.... Parking brake! Just looking at pictures of a stock harness should tell you which one is the parking brake lead if you didn't buy a genuine one. By the way, you're totally welcome for going and li
  10. Read This Then go to regional settings and it should be there.
  11. Either the mic is bad, or the mic port is bad. Garmin mics, which are better than the stock mic, can be had for 10-15$ either on ebay or in a local store. I'd test with one of them before diagnosing the port as bad.
  12. Your parking brake lead isn't correctly attached, or if you're attempting to bypass motion lockout, it's not grounded correctly.
  13. It makes the map full screen. The Route info and second maneuver graphic are hidden.
  14. Have you tried all the solutions that have been suggested and/or worked for people in the 752 pages of results for "black screen" when searching the F-Series subforums? If you have, there are also 22 pages of results in a search of the same forums for "blank screen"..
  15. Before you go replying to any other threads, like the one in the hacks/mods section you already have. How about some info? Which AVIC F-Series unit are you using? What phone(s) have been paired? Where is the mic installed at?
  16. I think, since the point of this board isn't to help you install a unit in your car when you clearly don't know what you're doing, you should maybe check out the A/V Forum over at HummerForums.com or another site like that. Maybe someone with a similar vehicle could assist you better than you can be helped here... At the very least, you should head over to the Vehicle Specific Wiring Subforum here and see if anyone has asked/been answered anything relevant about that adapter you're trying to use. I can tell you that unless those two wires are actually attached to something in the vehi
  17. Listen, if you're saying the only issue would be that the connection is bad/loose on the parking brake cable, what are you asking me about it for, instead of checking it and fixing it?
  18. Yeah, check the parking brake wire from your harness and make sure it's connected where it should be (obvious where it should be connected if you're bypassed or not)
  19. Interesting, but I believe the point of Apple's bumper is to prevent shock to a corner of the glass front/back, thus preventing shattering. Doesn't look that this carbon fiber bumper would provide the same protection? I'd gues sit would do fine, as far as preventing signal loss from holding the phone in an unnatural way, but I wouldn't be so quick to jump on it if it couldn't prevent shock damage from a drop..
  20. Honestly, if you aren't willing to at least search the forum to find out how to back up your existing files, maybe upgrading isn't something you should be doing..
  21. It doesn't matter, that's the answer, regardless of how it was before. The maps are part of the firmware upgrade. If you don't like it, restore your back up from the previous version of both. If you're going to live with it, like everyone else, turn smart zoom on and make the max 500ft, so you always see street names in 3d mode.
  22. back up your existing avic disk and store it somewhere safe.
  23. back up your existing avic disk and store it somewhere safe.
  24. It's how it is. You have to be at 500FT or less to see street labels.
