  1. Interesting. I use it with a regular iPod, although I have used my iPhone on occasion. Just out of curiosity, do you have "Sort Artist" information all throughout your library, or do you alphabetize your artist by first name--i.e., when you want (ex:) "Johnny Cash," do you push "J" or "C"?
  2. I think it's a Pioneer bug. Despite the fact that the unit is supposedly "Made for iPod," I don't think Pioneer's genius programmers managed to figure out that iPod/iTunes has a "Sort Artist" field for people who want (ex:) Jimi Hendrix filed under "H" for Hendrix, and not "J" for Jimi, and who don't want him listed as "Hendrix, Jimi". I suppose you can't blame Pioneer, though--that feature was only added in what, iTunes 6.0? <sarcasm> I was having the same problem as you - X920BT, 5000 or so songs in my iTunes library, but getting "Not Found" for 3/4 of the alphabet keys (including

As an experiment, I went into iTunes, selected my ENTIRE library (yes, that's EVERY song
  5. Did the 2.0003 (or is it 2.003) update fix this issue?

  7. I think this is a Pioneer quality control program -- I'm having the same problems as you guys, and have tried all of the same steps (reformatting, leaving files in "AVIC Z110" directory, taking folders out of "AVIC Z110" directory, trying different SD cards, etc.) I imagine that we all got units out of the same crappy non-quality controlled batch. You can try calling Pioneer customer support...if you want nothing but frustration. I had the guy telling me to take all of the same steps I already took, then tell me that (wait for it) the unit was probably defective, and that even though i
  8. mhermann, I'd like to try the fix you suggested -- can you give a few more details? Ex: Did you already have the SD card in the unit, then went to "change background" and it suddenly showed up? Thanks!
  9. I got the same response from Pioneer. Luckily, I bought mine from a national dealer, so if the unit does require replacement, I won't hace to do it myself. Trolling the boards here, it looks like you and I aren't the only ones having jis problem, though.
  10. Did that (with two different SD cards) -- unit simply won't recognize that an SD card has been inserted. The unit is only about a month and a half old, and this is the first time I've tried to use an SD card in it. The wonderfully helpful (sarcasm) folks at Pioneer Support told me that I would have to send the unit in for repairs at my expense. When I told them that I bought the unit from a dealer, and had no idea how to properly remove it from my car, they essentially stated that that wasn't their problem, and that I would need to pay someone to remove it from my car, if the dealer wouldn'
  11. Both. I tried the factory card--nada. I then formatted the factory card, downloaded the update, loaded it onto the factory card--still nothing. I then went to Best Buy, bought *another* micro sD card, formatted it, loaded the update onto it, and tried it. Nothing. My unit doesn't recognize that there has been an sD card inserted.
  12. Did you ever solve the problem? I came across the exact same problem -- my unit won't read the SD card at all.
  13. Did you ever get a solution to this? I'm having problems with my machine reading my SD card at all.
  14. Did you ever get a reply to this? I'm having the same problem.
  15. I downloaded Pioneer's new 2.003 update today, and after several frustrating attempts, could never get my X920BT to read the SD card. It seems like my unit doesn't even recognize that a card has been inserted--when I went to "Source" to try to look at the files on the SD card, the unit did not list "SD Card" as one of the possible sources. When I hit the "Eject" button, both "Eject CD" and "Eject SD Card" were greyed out. Anyone else have problems with the unit recognizing the SD card?
  16. How do you do a full factory reset on the X920BT? I don't mean the "Reset Factory Default Settings" that you can get to in the "Settings" menu--I mean an entire wipe-the-memory, restore the unit to the way it was when it left the factory reset.
  17. Having the same problem -- I actually ordered the card from Pioneer. I turned the car on, put the card in the unit, and....nothing happens. I turned off the car, then unplugged my iPod, turned off Bluetooth, put the sD card in the unit and....nothing happens. I then went back to my computer, reformatted the card (FAT32), downloaded the upgrade from Pioneer's website, extracted the zip file directly to the sD card, checked to see that there was nothing but the "Z110" folder in the root of the card. I took the card back to my car, turned on the unit, put in the card and....nothing happens.
  18. Think I might have found the problem, if not the solution. I took all of the songs off of my 30GB iPod. Then, in iTunes, I made a playlist of about 300-400 songs with artists from A to Z to 123. I then deleted the "Sort Artist" information from all of the songs in that playlist (so, for example, Frank Sinatra got placed under "F" for "Frank" instead of "S" for "Sinatra"). I loaded the "test" iPod with just the songs from my deleted-"Sort Artist" playlist, then plugged it into my X920BT. It worked perfectly--all of the letter tabs found the appropriate artists. So, it appears that the

  20. For what it's worth, you may want to check the "Sort Artist" field. Here's one strange result I got: For Eric Clapton, my iTunes lists the "Artist" as "Eric Clapton," but "Sort Artist" as "Clapton, Eric." Thus, as far as iTunes/my iPod are concerned, Eric Clapton is a "C" artist. The X920BT seems to think differently, however, -- when I press the "C" tab on my X920BT, I get a "Not Found." When I press the "E" tab, I get the following display: Eric Clapton The Clash The Clovers Johnny Clueless Tom Cochrane So, on the one hand, the X920BT seems to think "Eric Clapton" is an "E"
  21. The dealer and I tried four different iPods, with the following results: (1) My 30GB 4th gen iPod Video loaded with about 400 songs -- didn't work (2) My 80GB 6th gen iPod Classic loaded with about 3500 songs -- didn't work (3) Dealer's iPod Nano loaded with about 400 songs -- worked (4) Dealer's iPhone (unknown # of songs) -- worked It's not a hardware issue with the iPod -- unless I happen to have two different iPods that both have hardware issues. It's also not an issue re: memory capacity -- my 400-song iPod didn't work, but the dealer's did. The most logical explanation seem
  22. Had it installed by the dealer where I bought the stereo -- Pacific Stereo in California (www.pacificstereo.com).
  23. From the dealer -- had it installed by Pacific Stereo in California.
  24. That was Pioneer support's only suggestion -- didn't work for either iPod.
