  1. 4400nex and iPhone 11 here. Same issue with wireless Carplay. I have to go into Settings > Bluetooth and tap the 4400 to connect, then go out to the head unit and search for it to connect. Such a pain in the ass. My old iPhone 8 Plus still connects flawlessly to the 4400 (even on iOS 14), so I strongly suspect it's something iPhone 11 hardware-specific. Long shot, but did you (or anyone seeing this) ever manage to overcome this issue?
  2. Having trouble with the 2.004 update on an X920BT. It reads the Micro SD, then tries to update 15 items. It gets the the end and says "Update failed" with the number "10" in the lower right corner. I've tried a couple of different cards and a complete hard reset of the unit (Mode + Back)... UPDATE - Needed to copy RenewalIFLib.dll into the APL folder.
  3. I'm curious what the bluetooth firmware update does. More specifically, I wonder if it's more of a fix for existing issues or just increased compatibility for newer devices. Unfortunately, my experiences with Pioneer customer service lead me to believe I'm not going to get the answer from them. I'm hoping someone will provide feedback here in the forum.

  5. Where did you buy the Parrot mic from? Can you share details (model number, etc)?
  6. I am positive it is connected. The installer was someone I know and trust. We researched the VSS wire for my vehicle together and I watched him connect it. Can you give me some specific examples of Pioneer giving misleading directions in the past that have been this detailed? This guy was telling me "Yes. We know about the issues. You need to cut this wire. It's pink." I've done a lot of searching on the boards and I'm not coming up with much. Just trying to get a little history as it seems you guys are in the know about this. Also, does anyone know about VSS causing RF interference? J
  7. This came from Pioneer support and the guy was very adamant about it. Take that for what it's worth. I haven't been inside of a dash in over 15 years (and back then I was a teenager with a roll of electrical tape, an $800 car, and the best pawn shop gear minimum wage could buy) or I'd be glad to try it myself. There has to be someone on this board that it's not too difficult for.
  8. So I called Pioneer just now to cry some more about my x920bt and its horrible BT call quality and heard a suggestion I'd never gotten before. The guy on the other end suggested cutting the speed pulse wire (the pink one). Has anyone tried this to see if it resolves the BT quality issues where the people on the other end are complaining of horrible quality? Are there any of the DIY guys here who can give it a shot and report back? The second suggestion was a replacement mic; the one from the DEH-P610BT, but he emphasized trying the speed pulse wire first.
  9. Why are you trying to install Z series firmware to an X series unit? EDIT: NM - I see it's the same file AVICZ110.zip on their site.
  10. Edit: Nevermind. I'll leave you guys to it.
  11. The x930bt is in stock at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-AVIC-X930BT-Navigation-Receiver-Bluetooth/dp/B004HW6F8I/
  12. You know, I think there's a point in there somewhere. Something does seem wrong here. Where are all the posts about people counting down the release of the new units? There's almost no hype for them. It seems that either the market for this type of product is drying up, or Pioneer has just done a horrible, horrible job with previous units that people have been scared off. I know I'll never buy another one based on my experiences with the bluetooth phone connectivity and Pioneer's attitude about it. Add the lack of hackability and all the wow just seems to be gone.
  13. It's obvious they are ignoring the issue. Support people won't even take case notes when you call. They just spit back the standard "we can't guarantee compatibility with every phone" BS. This is a real problem that seems to affect A LOT of people, any may be primarily linked to people with Blackberry phones (I can confirm problems with several different models using BB OS 5.x). Pioneer won't even bother trying to replicate the issues with their engineers. If I thought I could in good conscience pawn this piece of garbage off on someone and buy a Kenwood, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
  14. Does anyone know where I can find a cheap replacement for the metal sticker/GPS antenna mount that comes with the X920BT?
  15. So to be clear, your son's Samsung sounds good when people call your car - aka no noise? Yes. Perfectly clear, no unusual noise.
  16. 2005 Elantra (obviously, I'm not above embarrassing myself) Blackberry 8330 w/ OS 4.x - Worked ok Blackberry 8530 w/ OS 5 - Sucks Blackberry 9630 w/ OS 5 - Sucks Blackberry 9630 w/ OS 4.7 - TBD Update - My son's cheap Samsung flip phone works perfectly Cabin is noisy, but the mic isn't picking that up. The other caller gets noise even if the engine isn't running. I'm running the latest Pioneer firmware for my X920BT (soon to be renamed X920BS). Were it not for the amazing price I received on this unit, I'd chuck it for a Kenwood. I will never again waste my money on something w
  17. It did not help for me. Callers sound fine but there's lots of noise on their end.
  18. The Blackberry is company-issued. Believe me, I've tried sweet talking them into iPhones.
  19. The above worked for me as well with a Blackberry Curve. Thanks!
  20. Just thought I would bring this back up to the top rather than start a new thread. This one has a lot of good info. I'm having the same problems as the previous poster on a new X920BT (sounds like wind, etc when I speak, but the other person sounds fine). My mic is in the driver's A-pillar.This problem seems to have appeared with a recent "upgrade" of a Blackberry Curve 8330 to a Curve (or Curse, as I like to call it) 8530. I don't think there were ever any problems with the 8330. Here are things I've tried: - Latest firmware for the X920BT (app version 2.002) - Latest Blackberry OS
