  1. how bizarre - that's what I was thinking it could be, even though I encoded them in Handbrake using the queue method, so the first video would be finished first. How typically Pioneer to come up with some weird-ass method that isn't mentioned, doesn't make any sense, and has no real way to rectify. I'll let you know if I can find any solutions, although since no one here seems to have mentioned anything else, I assume it's something no one either knows or cares about...lol
  2. Hey there. I'm converting some music videos, etc for playback on a 920 from the SD card. On said card, I have created named folders (movies - videos - TV etc.). As a test, I numbered six videos in a specific folder from 01 to 06. Problem: the sort order seems random. Item 03 is listed first, 04 second, and 01 thru 06 are listed third through sixth. What am I missing? I thought that by numerically listing the videos, it would be a done deal.
  3. Has Pioneer, or anyone else, created and released an ALTERNATIVE GUI for the Pioneer X920 series headunit? I nearly crashed the other day fumbling for the MICROSCOPIC "answer phone" icon that appears on-screen when the phone rings. The whole point of hands-free concept is safety, yes? So why did Pioneer think it was groovy to make a GUI interface that better resembled an iPhone. Sure, if I was standing on a street corner, it would be great to fling the screens with my thumb and watch as my screen mimics a slot-machine interface. BUT IT'S COMPLETELY USELESS AT 70MPH! (or many more
  4. sorry...have to vent about this... am I the only one who finds the way Pioneer implemented searching for artists/albums on this unit groovy if you we're standing still with an iPod in your hand, but COMPLETELY F$&@ING USELESS while driving at ANY speed? trying to place your finger at just the right place on the screen, then swishing up or down through tiny, scrolling letters like watching a slot machine roll to a stop is, and has been, the most unsafe way to operate a car audio product I've ever encountered. Kenwood got it right: bring up a stationary page of large letters, hit
  5. rock videos go well with passengers. so I guess no one has bought a VGA or HDMI cable and figured out a fix?
  6. lol, pioneer, you mean....guess we shouldn't be watching tv in the car anyway
  7. I'd love to bag a new iTouch for the x920, but losing video-out is out of the question...I wish they'd just get this corrected.... lol
  8. sorry for not knowing...what is enhanced app mode, or should I say what are enhanced apps? I do use video, so that would be a drag to lose. other than that, the X920 screen, album artwork, steering wheel access..all works fine with i5 devices, iOS6, the Apple adapters connected to the Pioneer 30 pin cable?
  9. Are they outputting analog video, or converting down to analog do you think? also, wouldn't it be more likely there was an HDMI to 30 pin that was made aftermarket, or does HDMI need a power source
  10. thanks - ihave since found out that certain apps have had their video out disabled, but it's on an app-to-app basis
  11. ok, so if this is the best that Apple is coming up with, I guess that analog video is dead forever in their eyes? http://store.apple.c...dapter?fnode=3a http://store.apple.c...dapter?fnode=3a any idea on if anyone has made either of these somehow adapt to be used with the X920 - 930 series for analog video? looks like far too many cables and connectors are going to be needed..... also...apparently...any i-devices with the 30-pin connector that have been updated to iOS6, analog video out has been disabled. Anyone have that problem?
  12. or just give new apple the toss...nothing wrong with the last gen ipod touch
  13. just got back from the Apple store - it was the first time they had the complete (I think it was complete) selection of Apple brand adapters and converters to go between 30 pin and eight pin. That being said, has anyone actually bought the Apple $29.99 converter with the included D/A circuitry and tested it with the Avic systems? I'd love to get a new iPod Touch for the car, but losing video out would be the deal breaker. Everything I've read here seems to be about third party adapters
  14. it's deceptively worded - think it's on page 18? Functions enabled or disabled by upgrade: other functions - voice screen will no longer appear...
  15. sigh...why am I not surprised that Pioneer gives you a different answer with every phone call....is it possible you have SOME form of VR due to the source of your installation software?
  16. ah, so you only updated as far as a 930? The Pioneer guy also told me that if I updated to the 940 software, I would lose voice recognition for EVERYTHING, not just NAV.
  17. and does anyone who owns a x920 know if you LOSE the Eco-driving screens with the update? yeah yeah - everyone thinks it's stupid...but my wife and I actually have quite a bit of fun with it. Hope that remains
  18. ok, the Pioneer phone guy claims my 920 will be upgraded to firmware 4.0, I will lose VR with nav, and that Bluetooth with Android will NOT give me Pandora screens on the Pioneer's screen when updating with this software: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Accessories/Map-Upgrades/NAVTEQ+2012+Map+Upgrade+for+AVIC-Z110BT,+AVIC-Z120BT,+and+AVIC-X920BT he also claimed that my 920 would essentially be a 940. I guess the real question is...how much better is it to have Navtek maps, and real-time traffic updates (after adding the antenna)?
  19. that would be good to know, as I quite like the option of VR with NAV on my 920. Having the proper upgrade package would be good. Which one is for the x920?
  20. do you know which is the correct package to purchase, aka is it an update on the x930 site, or the x940 site (there isn't anything but an old firmware update on the x920 page). When you say "manually", would the instructions be outlined by Pioneer, or is this the place to come for successful instruction?
  21. interesting...odd that just one aspect would be effected. I wonder if a stock x940 can perform VR with nav?
  22. thanks - can all of this be done without hacks, aka via purchasing the updates from Pioneer, or have they made it impossible to do this?
  23. time and energy being more important than money to me at the moment (lol), can I just buy the update from Pioneer to turn my x920 into an x940, and would that include the maps, bluetooth updates, etc?
  24. did you lose any of the voice recognition features, or any other x920 options when upgrading to the x940 software?

    2012 Maps

so you took a 910 all the way to a 940? did you lose anything?
