  1. alvarezlouie was able to do the update with no problems. I would suggest the same thing he did and do a test on your archive files. Looks like this system reported the same file size as yours for the .tib but it still updated correctly.
  2. I don't get this at all. You bought a $2000 system for navigation only!?! WHY!? I agree with you 100% that the navigation in the Z1 and Z2 is out matched by $400 portable systems but if you are looking to spend this much money, I would hope you are looking for other features besides Nav. I don't think anyone on this forum would suggest the Z1 or Z2 if you only need a navigation system, but if you want a in-dash DVD player with a 7" screen, HD for ripping music, integration with XM, Sirius, radio, Bluetooth, etc, THEN you can start considering the Z1 or Z2. That's why most of us bought
  3. yeah ... I tried doing that but i ended wasting more money than just going strait and get the DVD (i learned)....... (also i'm to lazy) with this option is just slide out the old harddrive slide in the new harddrive and done... How would you waist more money than buying the update from Pioneer?!? It cost $250 from Pioneer; the link above cost $50 (less, if you don't need to save any of your data) Also, if you were too lazy to do the above method and save yourself $200, why would you be offering to do it for other people for $150?
  4. All you need is the .01 thru .09 .rar files. Disregard the 700.iso and other files from the FTP site. Those are something else BigFloppy is hosting.
  5. And the D3 can play iPod video through the iPod interface
  6. Yes http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v ... 23,00.html
  7. That's exactly my point. The cndv-700hd iso is from a different thread. The thread I referenced is to image your Z1 drive to a Z2 and only provides the winrar files which compile into the .tib file. If you are reimaging your hd drive to turn it into a Z2, disregard the iso file.
  8. Correct. Look at STEP 9 in the link above.
  9. I think you are confusing multiple processes here. If you have a Z1 and want to upgrade to a Z2, go here: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9446
  10. No one will be able to tell you the answer to this until you actually try it. Pioneer made the software change sometime in July. Some July units were bypassable without an update, others weren't. Do the two wire bypass (you'll have to do it with or without the update and it won't hurt the unti if you do it either way). If your unit is bypassed after you are done, then congratulations, you don't need to the update. If you still aren't bypassed, you'll need the update.
  11. I haven't seen anyone say they needed a password if they were just updating their Z2. Only Z1 users needed the password. Does your software version read 1.000000 or 2.000000? If it reads 1.000000, you have a Z1, not a Z2 and would have to purchase the upgrade disc from Pioneer to get a password. Of course there are other ways of upgrading if you have a Z1, just look around the stickys at the top of this section.
  12. I just had this problem too. I reset factory defaults and reset the 3D calibration.
  13. Fixed. Before I jumped into things, I noticed my Mph were WAY off as reported by the GPS. It said I was going 11 Mph when I was really going 45 or 50. This caused me to move along the maps a lot slower than I really was. I reseated all plugs and harnesses on the Z2, and rewired the VSS connection with the PAC wireing harness. I cleaned up all the wireing and doublechecked the XM and GPS antenna placement. After getting everything back together, I reset all the 3D calibration and reset all factory settings. I don't know what piece of all that fixed the problem, but the GPS
  14. No, I used this forum and did everything myself. I have a background in installing radios, but this was the most complex I've ever gotten. I'm going to doublecheck all my connections tomorrow, and if I have to, re-wire everything from the start. I guess I needed confirmation that I wasn't missing something before I jumped back into the wireing. Thanks jimmy303, at least I know I'm not going crazy!
  15. I used C2R-CHY PAC Interface Harness. I have the Z1 with the ND-BT1 for my bluetooth and the CD-IB100II for my IPod. The car is a 2005 Magnum SXT with audio package to include factory amp. Never had a problem with my GPS and ran the system for about 6 months happy as can be. I have the 2-wire bypass, bluetooth update and upgraded to the Z2 by pulling the harddrive and re-imaging. Everything worked great and GPS was very smooth. It wasn't until I installed the XM NavTraffic unit did the GPS get very jumpy. I checked all connection statuses and everything looks normal. XM has updat
  16. Just as the subject says, is it possible to show a speed pulse in the connection status if you don't have the VSS hooked up? I just installed XM with NavTraffic and now my GPS is very jumpy. What I mean by that is it shows me on the right location but moves very slow down the road. Then the arrow "jumps" forward to correct for my position. I've never had this problem before and I've always had the VSS hooked up. I'm thinking I may have bumbed the VSS loose while I had the radio pulled. BUT, I still show a speed pulse in the connection status while I'm driving down the road. It wil
  17. I tried ZWINBACKMYP1 today and was put on hold several times. I got $77 a year w/no activiation fee but couldn't get the 3-months of XM Navtraffic
  18. No problem. I'm just glad everyone is able to complete the upgrade!
  19. The main difference is whenever the instructions say "AVIC Z1 Hard Drive" you will use your Toshiba 60 GB drive instead. Also, as navyute said, you do not need to do step number 4. On top of that, you can skip step 6 as well. If you are using a new drive, you don't need to backup your old drive since you'll still have the original intact.
  20. Thanks Nim. I never noticed the comma at the end of that link. I fixed the original post so it works now.
  21. Not exactly sure what you are asking here, but based on the PM you sent me, I'll say this: If you buy a new HD and decide to load the files on that instead of the Z1 drive, it's the same process except you don't have to unlock the drive first. BUT, make sure you still disable the lock prioring to putting the new drive in the Z1. Make sure you do a lot of reading around this forum. There are a lot of people testing new drives and haveing reboot problems.
  22. I just tested the FTP site and the files are still there. Plus it looks like they are still available through the newsgroups.
  23. Everything is available here on this site, includeing the 700HD disk image. This is no keygen that I know if yet though. 700HD disk ISO: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4T5MBJL7 I upgraded my Z1 with an image of the Z2 drive. It requires you to pull the hard drive out and connect it to your computer though. But garrettoomey is right, you could do if for $5. My writeup talks about $55 but that's only if you want to save your current Z1 stuff. You can unlock the drive for $5 if you don't want to save anything. Here's the writeup: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9446
  24. You still need to unlock your hard drive to copy the image over.
  25. I'm in the same position as you and only have a laptop. This won't work on drives connected via USB or Firewire. I had to use a friends desktop in order to do the upgrade. The security software will not be able to see the drive unless it is connected directly to the motherboard.
