  1. That's been requested before. Right now we don't have access to any of the code that drives the A/V or phone segments of the system. The only thing we can access is the navigation related code. That may change, but it will be a long, long time if ever before it does, so don't plan on it. Voice control is your best friend here.
  2. We have no access to the system files that control this screen, and no idea how to get access. This won't be doable for a long, long time, if ever. If you're swerving on the highway when you drive I think being able to see the clock on your rearview camera display is the least of your worries.
  3. Preamp out voltage has nothing to do with the volume of the signal transfered.
  4. The front panel input is an A/V 1/8" and requires a different plug than the one you would find on a standard 1/8" stereo cable. The rear inputs are A/V, not just audio, so there will be a red, white and yellow connector. Just don't connect the yellow one.
  5. If you're not sure what ground the parking brake wire means you need to go back to your installer and tell them to fix it.
  6. Is bluetooth functionality or voice recognition important to you? DNX-5140 is a no brainer to me.

    XM Signal

Do you have an F-Series or a D-Series (since you posted in both forums)?
  8. Yes, connect the car speed signal wire to the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) wire in the harness. The backup wire does not need to be connected unless you are using a camera. Most advanced integration harnesses now-a-days have a backup lead in them though, so double check if yours does.
  9. There is no voice control in EU units.
  10. I currently have an Alpine IVA-W505 (which has been in my car since I pulled my F700 out four months ago) and a DNX-6140. I keep my F700 on the bench to play around with, but every time I start it up I'm even more astonished with it's problems and poor design. Especially now that I've been using the Alpine on a daily basis.
  11. Do you have an iPod connected? You need to enable either of the AV inputs in the AV settings screen before they will work.

    Please Help

Read the FAQ linked in my signature (and at the top of every forum). I'm going to delete this topic once you see this reply. You can try again after reading a little bit.
  13. The new version of phpBB looks good, it's definitely a huge step forward and brings the software a lot closer to vBulletin, IPB, etc. Updating the forums is great, but how about a little better integration between the rest of the site and the forums, or just make the rest of the site go away and put the forums in the root?
  14. Might be a long shot, but is there any chance you have the voice volume for calls turned all of the way down? There are separate settings for the ringer and in-call volume, so that would explain why you can hear it ring, but then can't hear anything once the call has been connected.
  15. This (up there ^) is wrong, unless the parking brake lead is connected, you can't even access the menu to pair a phone. LonestarROB, you don't have to make modifications for the unit to work, but it does have to be connected as specified in the installation guide. If you (or your installer) didn't the speaker leads in the harness and you came here complaining about no audio would you be upset if we told you to go connect them? This is the same thing. You don't HAVE to make any modifications, but since your installer didn't connect that wire as specified in the installation manual,
  16. There's a reason the price is so "great"...
  17. I think we need a little organization here. Should I make a new thread that only has the specific info listed, or should I clean out this thread?
  18. Yep, that's the whole point of the FAQ, so it would be a good place to start.
  19. With the way prices are plummeting, you'll be able to pick up a brand new one for less than half of that auction in the very near future.
  20. You're doing something wrong with the install. PAC products may not be the best, but they don't have nearly that many failures.
  21. I tend to agree with the others regarding protecting the files. Really only a few of us should need to have owner rights, to manage files, the rest will just be accessing them for download. I'm not going to sticky this particular topic because I want to deeply integrate this into the mod posting process. I'll also add it at the top of the FAQ so that it's totally obvious.
  22. You can do it that way, but permanently modifying your cars wiring is never something I recommend. If you had used an adapter harness all of the problems that you're dealing with would have been taken care of for you.

    Helpp!!!

Are you doing the hardware or software bypass?
  24. I'm pretty sure superman was joking, at least I hope he was...
  25. Exactly. I haven't seen the or operator anywhere else in the code, but I would bet it's used somewhere. Many languages use the pipes (|, it's above the enter key on your keyboard) as the or operator (either a single or double), so maybe give that a try.
