  1. For all who wonder why this isn't quite 2GB... The way which this was fit onto one memory card (under 2GB) is that a the POIs bundled are only applicable to the East Coast. -Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, and Virginia. All of the maps are there, so as-is, it should work without a problem. There is a newer set of maps floating around (at least, they appear newer based on the file names). Ironically, the file sizes are smaller. I think th
  2. Same problem with me with BlackBerry Curve 8330, Touch PRO, Touch PRO2, and Samsung Moment. I do not think that this is handset related. Everything was fine (except for everything else with the unit) prior to my upgrade to 3.0.
  3. I am impressed with this updated nav system software. 119th street is no longer one-nineteen T. H. street. 123rd street is no longer one-twenty three road street. I no longer have n-st street as n street street. The system is extremely responsive, &..."left" no longer sounds like "lep". The system tells you your upcoming exits, the street names, and exit numbers -- and it lets you know the lane you should be in. Routing is intelligent now. The unit is extremely responsive. Thank you for a wonderful update, Pioneer and i-Go. The system is rock solid now. I now will proceed to recommen
  4. Oh... Duh. F700 doesn't have MSN Direct. I forgot!
  5. Unless I'm missing something, I didn't see any references to MSN Direct in the video. Does this retain that functionality? I don't think Europe has the service.
  6. This would be so nice. If only I could reverse engineer the Pioneer executable. We need the source code!!!
  7. Per XMFan, there are new channel logos: http://www.xmfan.com/viewtopic.php?t=102343
  8. Sirius XM's XM utilizes HE-AAC (aacPlus) V1 CBR at 32kbps for most of their channels. They are optimized with Neural Audio branded processors to process for dynamics, stereo image, and to avoid CODEC artifacts. Neural Audio's goal is to maintain the source as close to the original as possible, albeit you have some irregularities at such a low bitrate with HE-AAC. Sirius XM's Sirius utilizes ePAC varying VBR (0kbps - 60kbps, switched in 10kbps blocks) for most of their channels. They average around 30kbps. They are processed with Orban DAB-6200 audio processors to process for dynamics a
  9. http://www.artec.com.tw/ehtm/products/t3ap.htm These boxes are small and they have AC-DC power adapters. The unit itself takes 12VDC in; this means that you could hypothetically engineer a hardwired solution.
  10. Actually, that most likely has to do with a combination of Rayleigh fading and the Doppler Effect, and their impact on the pre-buffer of digital signals. You essentially lose your buffer when you drop your signal parity as you move. The DTV converter boxes have basic digital tuners that are meant to be utilized in a fixed location; they do not do the complex mathematical calculations required to compensate for different types of fading or the general Doppler Effect. There are some mobile HDTV tuners developed, but at this time the technology is highly proprietary, and thus the chipset
  11. "Flat" is as close as it gets to disabled.
  12. It depends on a variety of factors. Namely, the timbre of your speakers.
  13. I'm curious too. This would be FAR more practical!
  14. RadioShack has changed their inventory substantially since then. Unfortunately, I cannot find it anymore. It was a 12dB AM/FM Signal Booster. There are similar products. That said, simply amplifying an antenna may not be the best solution - if you amplify noise - you just get a stronger signal with stronger noise.
  15. Might as well just buy an 80GB ipod... Just for giggles, I'm going to quote this http://www.provantage.com/edge-tech-edg ... DG9103.htm $83.55 Granted, it's not Sandisk - but the more expensive ones are $20 more there... Good thing I didn't buy one in June.
  16. Signal Strength-Well, I get one station darn near to central Missouri in HD from Kansas City. I get WLS 890AM-HD1 from Chicago in HD through part of Missouri. RSSI's sensitivity and overall radio signal strength depends on how good your antenna is. Is my HD Radio working?-Yes. Everything that broadcasts in HD, I receive in HD. HD digital radio needs a stronger signal than analog; this greatly depends on your antenna quality. How close are you to the towers?-It varies for me. 10-40 miles. Since you're in Chicago, you should understand that signal reflections off of objects (skyscr
  17. Mine is the D2...so I'm the one missing that huge improvement! Oops, I must have ignored that point! Sorry... Go into Function --> Option 2 (If I recall correctly) to toggle display options. It's pathetic, I know. Yeah... I had the D1. That interface was horrible!
  18. Either disc. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... /CNDV-80MT Please look at the pictures located here. Click on "More Images". Illinois is a "redundant" state, as far as the map discs are concerned. You can use either.
  19. No. Please look at the bypass thread on how to bypass the D3. You need to move a wire over and ground two of them. This is completely independent of GPS. Specific instructions are on this forum in this sticky: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4670 You can either use this method, or not bypass your unit - it has to be done like this.
  20. You have to use the "Display" button to toggle through display information. You get one field at a time. D3 doesn't support a "beautiful" interface for Sirius like XM. ...And the D3 is a HUGE improvement over what the D1/D2 did for Sirius!
  21. In my truck, XM has the better *apparent* sound quality. In my home, Sirius has the better *apparent* sound quality. It all depends on the speakers, etc. you're listening to -- and what types of artifacts you are sensitive to. I am more sensitive to watery percussion than squeaky highs, for instance.
  22. How's that? HD Radio is digital and it works while moving. So is XM and Sirius. Mobile phones work. I think the theory of it would work. The frequency should be high enough that the Doppler effect at such slow driving rates should be insignificant.
  23. "90s on 9" is a new name. It was called "The 90s" before as a label. FYI. They said, "90s on 9", but the radio said "The 90s", for what it's worth.
  24. Gosh, this was so much easier on a Mac. I just drug the iso to "Disc Utility", highlighted it, and selected "Burn". Three weeks using this as my primary system. I love Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and all, but the power of UNIX in OS X definitely awakens the nerd in me. And, it's extreme application simplicity is just too cool. D3 operation is successful using both discs. I upgraded with the WEST disc, and it worked fine. The unit seems faster. XMX now has a channel logo!
