  1. Perhaps you didn't read my post about 5 posts up from this one. Yes, I installed it and the flasher bypass no longer works, as well as nothing else works without the parking brake wire grounded. I have a non-upgraded Z1, execpt now, I think I will go ahead and upgrade it since I have to do the 2-wire method now anyway.
  2. Well, the flasher lockout bypass is a thing of the past. Now I have a new issue as well. Even when I'm stopped, none of my buttons are solid colored. So I can't enter in an address now even when the car is stopped. Not sure how that happened. I will try the two wire method tomorrow night after work and see if that helps. Otherwise, it's off to Pioneer for repair. This had better been worth it.
  3. Installing the update now. I will let you all know in a few minutes. So I wonder if you have a Z1 with the new Z2ish disk installed, if you get the update for the Z1 or the Z2?? Post back in a couple.
  4. I was going to ask the same question. I was thinking about updating anyway. Probably will get a new HD and image the Z2ish upgrade. But I would LOVE to get my unit to stop freezing. Either way, if it DOES include the bypass "fix", then I'm certain that the 2-wire method still works. I'm gonna try it I think. I'll let you know ther results.
  5. Quick question on this. OK, so here's what I am getting out of this. I have a pre-Jun 06 Z1, so the DB mod comes out and the 2-wire method goes in. I got all the instructions for making the new drive. I will of COURSE make a backup of the Z1 drive. Has anyone had any problems with the upgrade and reverted back to the Z1 image with any success? I'm tring to gauge the reversability of this upgrade. Also, if I am having the "freeze on bootup screen" issue, associated with high heat (I live in NE Florida where a typical summer day sees 90+ degrees), will a new hard drive of the same size an
  6. I am now having the same problem. It "sits" on the Pioneer startup screen and just sits there. I can play music, change the input (with the remote only) and adjust the volume (also remote only), but nothing on the unit works except the tilt button. It was kind of hot today, but my windows are heavily tinted. What is more likely, an overheating condition, or a HDD error? I have only had the system installed for a few months. Actually, come to think of it, I can use the "SOURCE" button on the remote to access the music on the HDD... so it CAN'T be a HDD issue, right? Any other tho
  7. I've been hearing a lot of you guys talk about Pioneer not honoring the warantee. I bought the extended 4 year warantee and when I got it I realized it was NOT from Pioneer. In fact, it is an outsourced "insurance" company. They "insure" the unit free of defects for the purchased amount of time. If the unit ever needs service when out of the "factory" warantee, you take it to an "authorized" repair shop (best buy and circuit city were on the list) and if it needs to be sent to Pioneer, the "insurance" company will pay the fee. This means it doesn't matter WHERE you buy it, just that y
  8. Can you Subaru guys post the actual file instead of the picture?? I expecially want the carbon STi one.
  9. I am looking for some help. I have a friend with a Porche Cayane that wants to buy my N1 setup. I looked at the radio and it is about 2 inches LONGER than a standard DIN setup. Also, I can't find anywhere to find the VSS wire for ANY porche, can someone also provide this info? And yes, I want to hook up the speed sensor. I also started thinking that I remember back in the day when there were security codes for radios and aftermarket radios would not work. Is this a problem still today? Any Porche guys that know a bit about these cars, please PM me with your phone number, or I'll
  10. OK Ducatiboy! Payment sent. I can't wait to get this all installed. I'm taking out my N1 setup and putting in the Z1 as soon as it gets here, should be middle of next week. Thanks again! Excellent work! Matt
  11. My bad... I see the hack now. Still have the question about where this circuit board is located. Thanks.
  12. Sorry man... I also can't see what Guest is trying to show. What exactly was modded on the N1 picture? And a dumb noob question. Is this circuit board on the brain unit or the HU? This work for the 60MT discs?
  13. One question before I order. I see that you say that your lights don't flicker, in fact, the CAR doesn't even see the unit installed, however, I also read in your explanation about the duty cycle that it turns on your lights for 1/3000 of a second, promting this question... Does it actually send a .3 milisecond pulse to the lights or not? I have HID headlights and I see this as wreaking HAVOC on those ballasts, as well as the electrical system in the car seeing that the inital current draw for an HID ballast is EXTREMELY high. If what I understand is true, and the unit is actually
