1.
they are NOT faulty, there is no recall... they are on national backorder because pioneer cant make them fast enough
Oh okay sorry :D Just thought I saw it on this forum or another forum somewhere about a backorder, guess I was wrong? Thanks and God Bless
 2. This is what I said: Inquiry:Hello I was wondering is there going to a be a update coming out for the avic z1 soon? Looking at www.avic411.com in the troubeshooting sections, I see a lot of people having troubles with the routing issues, and I'm buying the avic z1 soley for navigation and I don't want to get lost or routing to inefficient. Thanks and God Bless This is pioneers response: The AVICZ1 has the latest version map, we have no plans for an update at this time. So I guess it's up to teleatlas to update the maps and then the avic
 3. Why is everyone buying the bluetooth thing when I heard it's not available on crutchfield because it's been recalled because of some faults? So is everyone now using the faulty model?
 4.
If you're in a car in Atlanta, you're fine. I am in a tractor-trailer. The navigation will sometimes tell you to take a u-turn when you don't need to. I haven't found any roads in Atlanta that aren't in it, yet.
OH okay, but the do certain things like the POI and freeway lane information work great? Like when you select Georgia Dome does it lead you right to it and etc? I just want to be safe without the maps. Thanks and God Bless.
 5.
I wonder if you can buy the Crutchfield pre-paid installation for $99? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2FBJPdIM78o/popups/accessory.asp?i=597421007
Yeah I plan on getting this, did anyone use the crutchfield pre-paid installation? I want to make sure it's legit.
 6.
I've been using my AVIC-Z1 for about 1.5 months with back up camera, ipod controller, and have Bluetooth on order. I had it professionally installed and yesterday I hopped in the car (Toyota FJ Cruiser) which is parked in the garage and the head unit it dead. javascript:emoticon(':(') Sad No lights, nada. I tried the reset button...nothing. I called Pioneer support and they suggested have installer remove power for 20 minutes to see if it will reset and that did nothing. The installer checked for power and everything is hot. So now I'm having to pay for shipping
 7. Anyone want to give a update on thier z1? Hows it going so far, is it still having problems, or is it accurate still? Also has anyone called or emailed pioneer or teleatlas about this problem?
 8.
The alpine double-din has been out nearly as long as the Z1. It looks awful in the dash of most cars because it sticks out so much. Seems like most would be disappointed that they spent more $$$ than a Z1 and still got an awkward looking unit with a seperate nav. Not to mention you would still be short all the hard drive based features, and Alpine's voice recognition is garbage when you look at the amount of things you can control vs. the Z1. The Z1 is definitely not perfect, but nothing else out there is close, yet. Maybe next year at CES, or maybe the Z2 will fix
 9.
First of all, this is just my personal opinion, the best nav out there is Alpine OEM in Acura, the next best thing would be Alpine after market especially if you can get the new one with HD radio (not available in most shops yet). TeleAtlas may rule in Europe, but in North America, you cannot get more accurate maps than Navteq (Alpine uses Navteq and Pioneer uses TeleAtlas). If I can get Alpine to fit in my car and can wait another month or two, I would definitely get Alpine. I got the Pioneer, which is still nice, but it's soley because I cannot wait for the new Alpine
 10. Anyone see how they re-did their website? www.pioneerelectronics.com they also have a lot of contact numbers listed so anyone can call and maybe ask about maybe some updates for the z1 and etc. God Bless
 11.
It would be cool to be able to ask a Pioneer Tech questions like this.
Yeah it will also be nice when we will know if there is a update coming out soon to get these maps and etc worked out everyones complaining off. I don't own one so I don't know if that problem is for everyone.
 12.
I have had mine installed for about a week. I drive for a living in the Atlanta area. The information does tend to be a little behind at times. It does offer alternative routes when yours is clogged. I like it so far-it's the navigation that bugs me.
Yeah I wanted to know how does the avic work in the Atlanta area? I never drove there before and plan and driving there for the first time, you think it's safe to do that with the avic z1? Also what do you mean "it's the navigation that bugs me"?
 13.

Anybody else having these problems with the routing? I don't plan on getting it until the end of this fall, but the main reason I'm buying it is for navigation and traveling and don't won't to be lost, or be going on a bad route and not be aware of it.
I bought a Magellan Roadmate 860T yesterday for my other vehicle. I plan on setting the same routes on both units to see if they differ and if the difference is significant, I'll report back.
Yeah that will be interesting. Let us know. God Bless.
 14. Anybody else having these problems with the routing? I don't plan on getting it until the end of this fall, but the main reason I'm buying it is for navigation and traveling and don't won't to be lost, or be going on a bad route and not be aware of it.
 15. Anyone tried calling pioneer about and seeing what they say? Ask about update info too. God Bless
 16.
Yea I gotta be honest the routing on this unit is pretty bad. It wants to route me about four miles out of the way to go to one of my favorite eateries. On another trip it insisted my destination was three blocks away from its actual location. And on another trip it wanted me to drive through a gated community. Well I didn't buy it for the navigation -- so this is mostly an irritation rather than a critical problem. Still Pioneer needs to fix this thing.
Well the main reason I'm getting it is because of the navigation, so they need to fix this. Anyone
 17. That was about 5 hours right? How was the lane feature? And was the points of feature reliable in Canada and traveling? Also I thought avic only covered portions of canada or was it all of CanadA?
 18.
Sorry if I've missed this on the forum, but I haven't been able to find a thread regarding this: Are the necessary future CDDB updates for the Z1 available for free? I imagine that in order to rip new cd's as they come out, one would need to be constantly updating this database on an almost daily basis. With that said, will these updates be available for free? Also, where do we get the update downloads..from Pioneer or directly from Gracenote? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rob
Well I'm not absolutely sure, but this site [url=ht
 19. Here is more information on the S1. Seems like they will be using NAVTEQ for their map database  Wonder why they didn't use navteq for the Z1 :x The Z1 uses teleatlas, I don't know much about teleatalas, so that is probaly a good map too. God Bless
 20.
Cool site, where does it say Z1 will be update via DVD? And what does 'optional' mean? I don't want to fork out another $250 to update this thing. It should be included for the price we paid for the unit.
Hey, when you enter the site, goto AVIC z1, then click guidance, then goto HDD navigation, listen to the voice prompt. It says, "The TeleAtlas database stored on the Hard Disk drive can be updated by inserting optional DVD's available from pioneer." So maybe it may be more then one update DVD, like one for streets, one for ipdod, but it should be integrat
 21. Remember this site from pioneer? It's not on their offical website yet, so I guess they are still working on it. Here it is here http://www.pioneeritknows.com/#AVIC-HOME Look at the site they said the z1 will be updated by optional DVD's I guess put into the system, check out the z1. Thaks and God Bless.
 22. Anyone call them or e-mail them about this?
 23. The last two guys who posted your pictures, I hope you have some good security systems in your car  , nice pictures though.
 24. I had a chat with one of the crutchfield rep's and they said they never heard of a re-call of the z1's, so maybe they just sold out. Or maybe they fixed the bypass thing, so if anyone buy's a new one let us know. God Bless!
