  1. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...but AppRadio mode for the Android simply allows me to do from the head unit what I could do from the phone. If I want Pandora to work as I think you'd like for it to work, I simply plug the phone in without going to App mode. Unfortunately, Pandora stops playing through the head unit when the phone's screensaver comes on. Me, I see no usefulness to App mode. For me, it'd be better if they could bluetooth Pandora and the phone's music player without extra cables. GM's OEM "Intellilnk" does the job quite nicely with Apple products. I understand that Android'
  2. A "Y" splitter won't work? Do you need more than two USB inputs? I wondered about this when I was considering the Z150. There's a separate input for Apple products, a HDMI to MHL setup for the Android, and I put a 3.5 mm jack on the console so I could input a MP3 player. I also put a separate USB charging port on the console...one that will service an iPad. If the Y splitter will work for you, or if you want to try this, you may be able to use these, for that aesthetically pleasing installation.
  3. Not only would the auto headlights turn my display to night mode, so would turning the fog lights on.I turned the auto dimming off on the head unit. The day view at night is hardly insufferable.
  4. The Android gets hooked up to the HDMI port through a MHL adapter. Apple products go through their own port. You need a special cable from Pioneer for that. The USB port on the back of the head unit is for charging only...the MHL adapter.
  5. One of the options once the nav unit finds your destination is "registration." That's how I've saved my searches. They'll show up in "My POI."
  6. What are you using to "trigger" the camera? 12 volts it the standard voltage in cars if you're not using something that comes off of a computer. Your taillamps or back up lamps, even if they're factory LED, should have a 12 volt source running to them. You can run a separate 12 volt switched source as the previous poster suggested but there should already be one in the trunk. Your backup lamps should be the perfect place to tap. You do want to have a switched source (comes on only when the key is in "ACC" or "RUN") particularly if your car is prone to long periods of inactivity. These
  7. I can't help you with your destination history problems other than to ask if you're "registering" the destinations. I haven't yet put all that many in...I'm really familiar with my current home area and bought the unit mostly for traffic and a future move out west. I can offer that I had your problem with my iPod with the AVH-P2400 that I had previously. I could count on it freezing about once a week and it would take a reset of the iPod to get it back. I have had the Z150 since early June and the iPod has locked up only twice.
  8. Let me know if you get it to work. When I tried to calibrate my Z150, I kept getting a message to check my front speakers...which were working just fine.
  9. You will, of course, need the Pioneer cable with the 30 pin Apple connector to do this. A regular sync cable won't work. It's pretty much the setup I have. I own an iPod Classic 160 gig and have just about my entire library on it. Set it on shuffle, and there are times I wonder why I'm paying for Sirius/XM.
  10. That's an unfortunate side effect of Android...its so called "fragmentation." I've had Android phones now for nearly five years. I don't believe I've seen an issue where an app designed for an older version of Android wouldn't run on a newer version. It's usually the other way around.
  11. I think you'll be sending your unit back to Pioneer. If you're getting AM stations and audio, you've eliminated just about every external possibility. It's pretty easy to get mine out of the Grand Prix...about five minutes, a little less if I use the cordless driver on the eight screws. And, like you, getting it back in is a bit tougher because of the wires and modules I've gotta shove back in.

    Soundcloud

Maybe your issue is with soundcloud. I'm sure they'd work with Pioneer if they saw an economic advantage to do so, and I'd think that Pioneer would feature any app that they could reasonably guarantee would work reliably for their customers.
  13. Get the iPod classic. You won't have any of the indexing problems of high capacity hard drives.
  14. I haven't tried video in my system yet, but for many of the functions, they're locked out as soon as I start moving, I'm supposing from the parking brake wire from the Axxess. The head unit is also getting a signal from the vehicle speed sensor which would be a pulse. The shifter position doesn't seem to make a difference. There is a wire that goes from the Axxess unit to the head unit that is supposed to be reverse sense. I suppose one quiet day I'll grab a Tech II from work and watch what's actually going on.
  15. Yes. I've only played with it for a little bit, but right now I prefer Pioneer's app over AR Liberator.
  16. Now that I've gotten all of the adapter cables that I need to do what I want this head unit to do, I think I've been able to answer some of my own questions. 1) The Apple adapter cable does indeed have a separate audio cable. There is an USB break a couple of feet from the head unit side of the cable, but none for the audio cable. I have a decision to make: run the cable as is under the center console and drill a hole in the bottom of the compartment box to pass it through, or do surgery on a $35 cable to add a couple of 3.5 mm jacks at the split, so I can install what I think is a more el
  17. I know nothing about the capability of the Z120 unit, but after almost a week of running a Z150, I've found a few nits. 1) No voice recognition. 2) No speed limit warning in maps. I was using a $5 iPad program that had it...NAVTEQ does offer it, at least in the 2013 GM vehicles version. 3) No "what's playing" when using the Sirius/XM receiver while in maps. It will give the channel information, but not the song and artist, like it does when I'm using the iPod or Pandora. 4) I've just started to play with it, but I've found the AppRadio application to be somewhat wanting. I'm us
  18. That's what I found to be the case. I cut the wire from the Metra unit and life is good. I can still hit the mute button on the steering wheel and the unit will mute.
  19. Did you do the parking brake bypass, or did you run the mute wire to the adapter?
  20. For what it's worth, I had to mute the AV source for both nav and phone. It's in the volume page off of the settings menu.
  21. I'm waiting to see how my system works out. I haven't set a destination to navigate to yet, so I haven't heard the voices inside or outside of my head. Mine is a GM car. The Axxess adapter I have cut out the radio on the last Pioneer head unit when a call came in, and yes, it appeared that the phone audio only came out of the front speakers. I'll have to see how it deals with the nav voice when an incoming call is answered. Apparently you're lucky they can hear you on the hands free mic.
  22. For what it's worth, Crutchfield's website said that my AVIC-Z150BH wouldn't fit in my 2005 Grand Prix. The "double DIN" refers to the radio opening size. Length and width should be fine, it's depth that may get ya. The best thing to do is to take your OEM radio out...don't unplug it or you may trigger the Theftlock feature...then measure from the lip of the radio opening in the dash to the closest obstruction. Make sure you allow for cooling, wiring bundles and any adapters you might need for steering wheel controls and whatnot. My Grand Prix has an about 1 1/2 by 6 inch opening betw
  23. Good! I get my cables tomorrow and that's exactly how I planned to set mine up.
