  1. Tell them to do this: http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html#newbypass
  2. From this picture, I would say you already have that update. That screen means that you have a valid update disk but the update has already been applied. Then if you reset the unit, little recessed button to the right of eject, you should be fine. If you are not fine then you have one of problems (or both), you have the entirely wrong update disk or the 2 wire ground isn't done right. you have the entirely wrong update disk: This is if you have an Avic Z2 and you are trying to load the Avic Z1 bluetooth update disk or something like that. If you have an older Z2, then you need the
  3. Alright please correct me if i am wrong. According to this statement, i can ground the light green wire permanently but not the green wire ? Well what is this green wire you speak of? Is this "green" wire you are talking about a permanent wire that is original to the vehicle's wiring? This is what the quote you had above was talking about. There is a wire in your vehicle which is grounded when you pull (or step on) your vehicles parking brake, it was there from the factory. Normally the install calls for the Avic's light green wire to connect to that wire, so that when the car's wire
  4. The last person we want to ban around here is BigFloppyDonkeyBalls. We will need a little more time to test than 24 hours. I'm going to try to test this as well. But I won't have the image till later tonight at the earliest. And some of us do have lives you know. I might not be able to test it tonight.
  5. ahhhh.... I don't know if I would do that. Glue is not needed for this connector. There are 30 other wires on those harnesses and those are all reliable, if you needed glue you buggered up the terminal before you re-inserted it. If removed correctly and inserted correctly, there is no need for glue. The other problem is that if you glue it in and don't get it correctly, you won't be able to change anything. You might need to take the little "tang" which holds the terminal in and pry it out with a pin, it should be at about a 35 - 40 deg angle.
  6. Yes, that's working as I would expect. The "old" version means that the CD you have was already installed and not needed. The week of working and then not, sounds to me, like you reset the unit and wire #2 is not connected correctly. http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html#newbypass Or wire #2 is intermittent and is wiggling loose. It doesn't take much of a screw up in the connector to make it intermittent. If the CD you got in the mail won't install cause it's "old" then the software is up to date, now you need to work on the hardware. If you reset the unit and it works for a
  7. They are BMP files not JPGs. You make JPGs for the CD, it changes them to BMPs for the hard drive and stores your most recent selection as a BMP on the hard drive. If you search your hard drive for them you will find them. I can't remember off hand. It's pretty obvious when you find them, in a DEFAULT folder or something. Also you can't just add a dozen files (at least without removing the stock ones). There is something in the Z1 software (don't know if they carried this to the Z2) where it will only show you 12 backgrounds and it comes with 8 or something so if you put in
  8. Thanks. Nothing is official yet, but it's looking very very promising.
  9. I'm assuming you might be asking me... and yes. Also new development, I think one of my co-workers found another company that needed a new site of engineers who has agreed to lease the building we were in and hire all of us as a group. So it looks as if we all might have found new employment.
  10. How about a hi-tech site working on medical electronics? Anyone want to sign on in NJ?
  11. Well, today was my last day of real work. My parent company in their infinite wisdom decided they did not want our location anymore and due to budget reasons they decided to close our facility. So I'm out of a job. I started with an OEM medical manufacturing device company, we were bought by another company and a few years ago we were bought out again my St Jude Medical (CRMD Division). But St Jude decided they didn't want us anymore so they are closing my site down. It's pretty sad, I've been working for the same facility since 1991 and made it through both buy outs. That was
  12. Yah, I really need to copy the same thing on to a specific Z2 screen.
  13. I really like TMPGENC http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/index.html To convert And I use TMPGENC DVD author http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda3.html For authoring dvd's. There are TONS of these out there. Nero does it, I have used Ulead. Check video help and see what the reviews are for each program. hottwhyrd's recommendation is VERY highly rated but I have never used it http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ConvertXtoDVD I will have to try it some time. It's even higher than TMPGENC http://www.videohelp.com/tools/TMPGEnc_DVD_Author hottwhyrd, thanks for the tip.
  14. I seem to remember hearing that they changed the video out on the latest release of video units. I just got an ipod touch and I heard that the old way of outputting video doesn't work (don't have a cable and didn't try it) and the new cable has a computer chip in it to do the video out. So this cable might not work if your video is too new, don't know about the iphone, being close to the ipod touch, it might not.
  15. You need to pronounce it very correctly: Suck - Rah - Men - tow
  16. Just waiting for rage2 to publish his document on how to create the playlist files.
  17. Can you play any copied DVD's? I never tried playing the media center created DVD's. I play copied DVD's in there all the time. It should play DVD's on recordable media. So it's either the media itself, or the way the DVD was authored (by the media center). So make a copy of one of your DVDs on the same brand media, play that. Does that work? If not it's the media. If it plays it might be how media center authors the video. You could take the video files right out of the storage directory and reencode it with TMPGENC and author it with TMPG Author. I really like those for authorin
  18. No I think that 6 orange sats is good. I think gray is no connection to the sats. Red is ok connection. I don't think you need to rip it out to check. Are you having trouble with your nav tracking your position.
  19. No, orange is good. I think that might be the best signal. I don't think they go green.
  20. Also if pioneer sent the disk, call them as well... yell at them that this is happening.
  21. Did you put the update disk into your computer and look at the files on it? How many files are on the disk?
  22. EXACTLY! Come on.... couldn't you afford a Buick or something cool?
  23. You can use any audio cd, but it will only name the tracks for you automatically IF they are legit/legal CD's and IF its in the database. But it will rip any audio cd you stick in there.
